Question by ThomaS: Asbestos related to home improvement!!?
I have a home in southern CA built in 1964 and I recently removed the popcorn ceiling in one of my rooms without testing for asbestos. (i am in the process of testing) I was told i didn’t need to worry about it but i now know better. Anyways I am sure that their were particles floating in the air and I inhaled them. So here is my question how likely is it to actually get sick down the line from this. I mean there has to be people all over doing home improvement ignorant to the fact they are exposing themselves to asbestos. Assuming the test is positive how likley is it to get sick i am a numbers person so if someone could give me the likely hood in like 1 in a 1000….thanks.

slim to none for such a small exposure, and slim just left the building. i know old-timers that used the stuff for blankets and worked with it on a daily basis for many years… they are still ok…. and they get a mandatory chest x-ray every year…. don’t worry
