Question by Ryder: If you have lung cancer, and it spreads to your neck causing a lump there, are you pretty much a finished man? Does that mean “it’s all she wrote”, “no possible cure”, and “good riddence to you”?

Answer by here comes the sun to be honest the lung cancer pretty much does for most people
secondaries are just a sign that the cancer has spread and patients often do not live too long when this happens
i had a friend with lung cancer – he had radical surgery and his lung was removed…..a few years later he developed brain cancer and died soon after
if his lung had not been removed he would not have lived for as long as he did …he had this surgery in singapore as they would not do it in germany or holland where he lived

It depends a lot on the condition of the patient. If in fairly good shape physically, the oncologist may order more chemo. I know a lady with lung cancer with mets to the neck, they put her on Tarceva and she is doing well with the tumors in her neck shrinking.
There is no possible cure for lung cancer to begin with.. all we can do is hope for a longer survival time.
Lung cancer is really aggressive and if it has already started spreading, it’s not a good thing. Doctors will tell you all you can do is chemo/radiation, but there are alternative natural treatments out there as well.
Look up clinical trials in your area, alternative therapies, etc.
Every patient is different and nothing is ever written in stone. Metastatic cancer grows at different rates for different people and likewise responds differently to treatment across patients. Your oncologist is the best person to discuss this with. Try to keep a positive outlook and find out what your options are.
