my grandmother called me earlier today and told me that she had just been diagnosed with rectal cancer and about 2 years ago my grandfather was diagnosed with lung cancer i was just wandering witch one is more deadly because before today i had never heard of rectal cancer i just know that she thought it was hemorrhoids and it turned out to be cancer and im just really worried does anyone know witch one is more deadly i need as many facts possible thanks so much!

Untreated both can kill you, but it is possible to live without a rectum, so rectal cancer which has not spread yet can be cured by removing the rectum. It also depends on how far advanced the disease is, the overall health of the patient, the treatment they choose, and on and on. I know that cancers of the colon and rectum have a good chance of cure if they are caught early. I don’t know as much about lung cancer.

There are over 200 different types of cancer and nearly all of them have the potential to be deadly. Survival from cancer depends on many different factors . . it depends on the type of cancer, location of the disease, stage and grade of tumor, the overall health of the patient, patient age, and the response to treatment.

Metastatic cancer is called stage IV disease. The mets can travel all over the body and lodge in a distant location . . common spots are the liver, the lungs, bone, or the brain . . new cancer colonies will start to grow in those spots and repeat the entire process . . growth and than metastasis . .indefinitely unless treatment stops it.
So you need to ask your grandmother what stage her cancer is in . . if it is in the early stages than it can be treated with surgery and maybe chemo . . if it is in the late stages than the cancer can be treated but it will be very difficult. There are no guarantees.
