Answer by Panda Cancer is an ancient disease . . so not exactly sure what you are talking about . . I suppose you could credit Greek physician Hippocrates (460-370 B.C.) with the origin for the word cancer. As far as scientists go there are a number of names . . none specific to lung cancer, but cancer in general who were instrumental in identifying cancer throughout the ages.
