Well, if you know you have lung cancer, you should go to a doctor, so they can treat it. But, most likely either way, you will become very sick and eventually die.

I think you already know the answer. Unfortunately lung cancer is terminal. All one can do is make themselves with the help of their medical community as pain free as possible as the disease takes it’s course.
The obvious would happen – they would get progressively weaker, thinner and short of breath; they would develop a pallor of the skin and a listlessness. They would become depressed and, eventually, they would slip in and out of consciousness. Death would be imminent.
Of course, we are not all the same, even those battling lung cancer. There are always miracles.
I, personally, have known of two people both of whom had Stage Four cancer and who, for all intents and purposes, had little reason to hope. However, both of these people have “recovered.” It’s been over five years for each of these individuals, and their respective cancers seem to be in long-term remissions. They were both people of deep faith and did, indeed, believe in prayer and miracles.
Still, medical treatment was utilized by both of them. Ignoring a lung-cancer diagnosis by simply “doing nothing to treat it” seems unwise and limiting in many ways.
Lung cancer as such is NOT terminal. There have been cases where the cancer is such that it can be cut right out and seered over with a hot blade. Other cases involve removal of one lung.
There is evidence that shows that treatment of this disease does prolong the life of most lung cancer people.
However, in some cases, people live about as long with or without treatment, it varies greatly and it depends greatly upon the extent of the cancer when it is detected. Lung cancer is a “fast moving” cancer, unlike prostate cancer which barely moves.
I have recently lost 2 loved ones to lung cancer. Both cases had spread to the brain before the primary cancer tumors in the lung were discovered. Both were gone in a matter of months. One became very demented, combative and mentally confused and no longer trusted a soul – fighting up until his last breath… The other began having seizures and then went into a coma until her death. Both were heavy drinkers but neither were big smokers. If these cases are typical, then doing nothing about lung cancer would likely result in a similar outcome. At least the dying process is relatively fast. Better than suffering for years which I have seen happen with skin cancer + other old-age illnesses. Long suffering is a horrible thing to watch when it’s someone you love.
My mom had lung cancer which spread to her brain. She never smoked. She opted not to treat the lung, but to treat the brain lesions with gamma knife surgery. She had two good years and only really went down the last few months. She only needed oxygen for the last 3 months. She had only one really bad week right at the end.
She was 83 when she was diagnosed, which was the main reason she chose not to have aggressive treatment of the lung.
So it varies a lot with the individual and how the cancer spreads.
