Question by paulyitaliano: My symptoms include: headacahe, back / neck soreness, difficulty getting a full breath?
During the last 5 days I have experienced a dull headache on the left side of my head, what feels like a pulled muscle in my back, and I feel like my right lung does not fill up as much as my left. I have also feel like I am getting out of breath easily.
I am an avid weightlifter, and I noticed these primarily after a hard shoulder workout. I am otherwise in good health and have no history of any major diseases in my family.

Q&A: How many types of cancer are there name them?
Question by Satyen D: How many types of cancer are there name them?
Best answer:
Answer by Panda
There are over 200 different types of cancer and just as many subtypes.
You can find a small list of cancer types at the National Cancer Institute::
http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/alphalist
In general . . the types fall into categories:
Leukemia – blood (ALL, CML, AML, etc)
Lymphoma – lymph node (Hodgkins, Non-Hodgkins, etc)
Carcinoma – body organs such as breast, lung, liver, etc.
Sarcoma – bone, muscles, tendons, joints, fat, soft tissue (Osteosarcoma, Ewings, Rhabdomyosarcoma, Synovial, etc)
That is a generalized list of the categories . . under the above categories you can list all the various types of cancer . . and under those types will be even more subtypes (rare cancers).
Basically, every single cell type within the body has the potential to turn cancerous.

Question by JackShit: Lung cancer has spread to bones?Progression?
My sister inlaw has been diagnosed with lung cancer that has already spread to her bones,it was caught to late. They say she only has about 1 month to live.Does anyone know what the progression will be,what effects it will have on her before the end? They are giving her pain meds and she is in the hospital. And what are some of the signs that we missed before it got to late.I’ve checked online but every thing is so vague. She had no lung pain and didn’t cough up blood or anything.Thanks.
Thanks for the kind thoughts and words, she’s already in the hospital and they said she won’t be going home. Thanks again.

Unfortunately there often are no symptoms until it has progressed beyond a treatable stage. Controlling her pain is the only thing they can do to help her. Annual physicals are necessary to attempt to catch many diseases in their early stages.

What’s the name of a heart cancer? Need answer ASAP!!!?
Question by : What’s the name of a heart cancer? Need answer ASAP!!!?
Alright, my boyfriend says he’s got a kind of heart cancer, he told me this yesterday. All I remember is that it started with a “T” and may have actually started with “Tri” something, not sure at all, just had a T in it, does it exist, what is it called, what’s it do? He said it’s extremely rare and that he “might be the third person in the entire country to have it” he also explained it as “an illness and a cure” I’m really not sure what it means, anyway, he says he’s come to grips with it and is fine, but I want some info on it.
He said the only way to cure it is if all his organs are switched out and he has a blood transfusion. Any info is helpful.
Thank you.

Is this a good opening for a financial aid appeal letter?
Question by : Is this a good opening for a financial aid appeal letter?
My name is ________and I am writing to ask for an appeal of my ineligibility of financial aid. Spring semester was overwhelming because during this time, my mother health declined and was diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Emphysema. I am the only person living with my mother and so I had to care for her to due to her inability to perform duties for herself. My grades were greatly affected and fell below the satisfactory academic progress.
Best answer:
Answer by trh2000_2000
Well, what about the other quarters? It takes more than one quarter for them to suspended your financial. You were put on probation before spring quarter, so what happened the prior time you was here?
When you do an appeal, you have to discuss your whole situation, not just the last time you was here.

Q&A: How to convince my ill mother to come live with me? (Its a long one…)?
Question by Yvonne: How to convince my ill mother to come live with me? (Its a long one…)?
My mom was diagnosed with breast cancer about 11 years ago and has been a strong fighter. Still is…and that is most of the problem. Before, she was a survivor. Now, she’s merely surviving. In the past 11 years, more recently the past 5 years, she has been diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer 4 more times in the lungs, bone, breast again and liver. Her health took a turn for the worst last month and she got cellulitis. She was hospitalized for a week and was discharged last Friday, the night my family and I went up to visit her. The only way the doctor would let her go was if someone moved in with her, and she said I did. I had to let my husband and two kids come home (300 miles away) and I stayed with her all week. She lives off of the couch, can barely walk more than a few minutes with her walker before she gets sick and vomits, even after taking her anti-nausea medicine. She says it was from the caffeine since she doesn’t drink soda anymore and she had a little Dr. Pepper the one day. Complete bullcrap. My sister and her family came up for the weekend and we just got home tonight. We are so worried about her living alone 300 miles away but she is so stubborn and proud that we know she won’t hear a word of us trying to convince her to move in with me. She always says she is ” tired but fine”…even though I called her the night after she was admitted. She didn’t even tell me she was in the hospital! The neighbor’s daughter’s guy friends had to CARRY her to the car and take her to the hospital, which is luckily only 5 blocks away. If she was just a little more tired or a little more weak and wasn’t able to make it out to the porch, she could have died.
I just became a SAHM two weeks ago so it would be perfect. I would drive her to her appointments, chemo, anything she needs. I am more than willing to sacrafice anything I have to, husband agrees, to make sure she is “okay”. We have a small house to begin with and some steps to walk up but those are minor details that can be worked out.
On top of her health conditions, she owes almost $ 6000 by 9/24/09 in property taxes or the house will go up for sheriff sale. The water pipes broke 4 months ago and the water company has been providing “free” water since, now threatening to shut it off. It will take at LEAST $ 1000 to repair. Which I believe they would then condemn the house without running water. The house is so out of date and in violation it should have been condemned years ago. She is trying to go back to work this week or next week so she can get a loan from the bank for the taxes and water lines but its going to be impossible. She thinks lying to us and acting “healthy” will convince us she’s ok but she’s not. Everyone else has stepped into reality but her.
I’m sorry this is so long, and thank you if you read it all. I just don’t know what to do. My sister works for a medical company so she has a lot of connections with people about diseases, treatments and all that stuff so she’s going to try to pull some strings and see what she can find out on her end.
I just don’t know what to do as a daughter. I’m 22 and my sister is 29. We’re not little kids anymore. We’re settled and capable of doing this but my mom doesn’t want us to know what’s going on with her, let alone take care of her.
Please give me any advice you have to offer. My YA msg screenname is msryan06 if anyone would like to talk that way.
Thank you.

Well, it sounds like it is going to work itself out when the house goes up for sheriff sale. She will then have no choice but to go live with someone else.

no warrant or warning was given when I was terminated .?
Question by srgofcb: no warrant or warning was given when I was terminated .?
defamation of charachter, wrongfull termination, lack of any consideration towards notices, changes in work hours, codes of conduct towards employees, lack of following it’s own company procedures, denied time off towards recent family medical emergency. “I had to use my vacation time to bury my father after a year long fight with lung cancer”
Not only do I feel regret, but a huge amont of doubt in life. What kind of employer would willingly and purposly treat there employees (reason why buisnes can profit) with such malace and discrimination. It feels like I’ve been raped or violated beyond company borders. I have no reasons or explinations to offer to fellow industry associates, businesses, stores, and even future employers.
I lost a good job, and don’t know why. They offered me no severance package, time of notice , or help finding another job?
If I use them as references, what are they going to say?
If I dont use them, how do I account for the last 4 years?

Very small spot on mom’s lung found in Chest Xray?
Question by heavenly: Very small spot on mom’s lung found in Chest Xray?
My mom is 65 years old and is scheduled for parathyroid surgery to remove an overactive parathyroid. Yesterday they did a pre-op chest xray and routine blood tests.
The surgeon called last night to say that they saw a very small spot on her chest xray and they want a CT scan now. The doctor said it is probably nothing but they must follow up to be sure. Health insurance is now dragging their feet to grant the Dr’s request for the CT scan.
My mother and I are very scared. She has never smoked and is in good health besides the parathyroid problem. She has no symptoms regarding her lungs and just ran up 6 flights of stairs twice last week at work without any issues. She did have bacterial pneumonia in the past and has traveled to Denver, Colorado lately. She hasn’t had a chest xray in a very long time.
Of course I am fearing the worst….cancer. What are the chances that this is cancerous and does anyone have any experiences with small nodules discovered on chest x rays?
I love my mother very much and hope it is nothing…but any info would help.
Best answer:
Answer by Cathy G
Try not to worry until the CT Scan is done. That will give you a more definitive diagnosis of what it could be.
If it is cancer, the area appears small so they might have found it early. Do not let this go with out further testing. My father had a small area on a chest xray a while back and they said they would just watch it and come back in 6 months. 6 months later it doubled in size and they found out it was cancer.
My mom had the same thing but was found early, had surgery to remove 1 lobe of her lungs and that was 8 years ago and she is doing fine, no chemo, no radiation.
Just don’t let them tell you it does not need a CT scan. Maybe even an MRI if they still are not sure.
