If a person gets the swine flu and then pneumonia as a secondary infection, would the vaccine help at all?

No. The CDC even stated that the flu vaccine given 08-09 will not prevent the swine flu. Let’s just hope that it dissipates soon and doesn’t turn into an epidemic.

The No part at the beginning is the answer about the pneumonia vaccine. It only covers strains of bacterial pneumonia.

I smoked for two years (from 18-20) but decided to quit while I was ahead. I haven’t smoked for about 8 days now. Have I already done serious damage to my lungs.

I really wish I hadn’t been so dumb and started.

george burns smked cigars almost all his life and lived to nearly 90.
my grandfather smoked hardly at all and died in his late 60′s….

Pancreatic cancer. Any answers will be fine?

I just found out my neighbour accidentally found out he has pancreatic cancer.
He developed jaundice (yellow skin) and when they did a scan they found a tumor.
A biopsy has come back positive.
He was told that if cancer was on a scale of 1 to 10. 10 being the worst. He’s a 9! And given him 6 months tops.

I am so upset. He’s has such a tough few years. It’s just not fair.

I know through my studies that pancreatic cancer is one of the worst, deadliest cancers to get. Is that correct?

I had pancreatitis a few months ago and would rather give birth again any time as it hurt so much. Is Eric going to suffer worse than that pain wise? Stupid question I know.

Please. Anybody with any information please answer.

Why is marijuana illegal?

Any historian will tell you that early american settelers were required to grow hemp- the equivalent to marijuana, used to make rope and paper- by the LAW of the united states. Hemp was used for everything, even the declaration of independance was written on hemp. Aberham Lincon once wrote that “I love nothing more than a devine pipe of hemp an a summers day.” In fact the oil from hemp seeds is a natural burning fuel substantially more efficant than oil, in theory our energy crisis could be solved if we all ran our cars on hemp.
However anyone who would try to grow hemp today would be arrested as a drug manufacturer. How can this be? The government will tell you its because marijuana is dangerous and associated with violent crime and should be illegal. However the actuality is that titans of the oil companies do not want hemp to be produced.
The reason for the united states legal policy on marijuana is here is because George W. Bush and Richard Nixon had substantial ties to the oil industry, leading Nixon to create the “War on Drugs” in 1970, read about it here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/War_on_Drugs.
However It has been proven that marijuan is less harmful the smoking ciggaretts and alcohol. the reason there is so much fear around marijuan is because people still think of maijuana as a drug, which classifies things from alcohol to marijuana to heroin. Heroin is a much much more dangerous drug than marijuna, with life changing consequences, however it is described by the same word, drug, as marijuana is. FACT: noone has ever died dirtectly from an overdose on marijuana. however people die from their first hit of heroin all the time.
Lastly there wouldn’t be any violent crime arround marijuan if it was legal. The reason there is so much crime associated with marijuana is because marijuana is illegal, anybody having to do with it is considered a criminal. The things that marijuana does to you are not criminal, you can feel at peace if you wish. It makes you a criminal because it is wrongly illegal.
The best way to combat this is civil disobeadance, why even the United States of America was created out of a rebellion. This Marijuana rebellion will save the world.

Therefore I ask of you why do you think its illegal?

Keep in mind i do not condone useing marijuana all day everyday just as no one would condone useing alcohol all day everyday. I ask that the government look at marijuan the same way they do alcohol, a drug that when consumed at the appropriate time should be legal.

I lost my mother yesterday, very suddenly considering she had lung cancer. She died just 16 days after diagnosis. I never had a chance to really say goodbye and I just feel like I hurt all over. I was at her bedside when she passed but she was not awake and I feel lost without her. I am in my 40′s with my own family but we talked often, about everything. Please help with any ideas.

All of my family, with the exception of a few brothers/sisters have passed away……..thankfully, as a Christian, I have the love of God and His Son, plus knowing that I will be reunited with some of the family very soon…………may God be your guide

Hi. I’m 13 and a girl. Im in 7th grade. I’ve always been good at writing, but its not my intention to be a writer when I get older. We have a project where we need to write a 10 chapter book.
The basic plot of my book is–
Faithfull and Faithless are two twin girls, one night while in the bedroom, Faithless makes a wish that there was no more music, and is fed up with it. That night while sleeping, they get woken up by a fallen angel, the fallen angel takes them over a dark rainbow, to see life without no music. They run into the Shadow (stalker, bystander) and Dracula (god of music). While they get dropped off in dark alleys and black holes, Faithfull looses the one thing she keeps with her at all times, her favorite music tape, and Dracula drops her off in a black hole, Faithless has to go through 42 days of mazes and obsticles to hopefully come out alive and find her sister and when she does she regrets the one thing she said, and will NEVER repeat it again…

Here is my first chapter–

It seemed like an ordinary day last Wednesday, for Faithfull and Faithless, or ordianry in the sense of odd, well, you get the point. Faithfull and Faithless are not your average twins, per-say. Faithfull was your average, nice, sweet, outgoing, generous, A+ student. While on the other hand Faithless, not so much. She’s more of a dull, punkrock, hibernate in your room, ‘I’m not listening to that pop crap” as Faithless says type of person. Last year Faithfull and Faithless’s mother died of lung cancer, while they were on vacation in Mexico. Their dad was in jail for drig abuse. Then they went to live with their grandmother, and that’s when things started to go downhill. Faithless used to be like how Faithfull is now,but she changed alot. Not only in attitude wise, also apperance. Who would choose to name their twins Faithfull and Faithless? Faithfull ment to have lots of confidence, and faith, faith in not getting cancer, full of faith. Faithless ment to not be faithfull, lifeless, or the fact that their mother wanted to name them both Faith but couldn’t. Before they were born their mother already had signs of cancer, but the doctors couldnt figure out what kind. Faithless also had to do with their dad getting off drugs , he was already addicted to them and their mother was sure he wouldn’t quit.

I have a friend who has lung cancer that spread to her intestine that is now in her lymph nodes. She is going to die. She is 37 years old. She is receiving no treatment. Her intestine has been operated on but she still has lung cancer and its in her lymph nodes, as I said.

With this kind of cancer how long would it be till she leaves? How long does someone usually last in this situation?

The doctor said the prognosis isn’t good” I heard my mother speak, I saw her lips move with the words but some how I still couldn’t hear. “Your sister’s going to be in the Oncology unit at Children’s Hospital for at least two months under going treatment for stage 4 melanoma” my mind drifted away from the dusty kitchen table and from the white empty walls to last summer.

“Halley wear the sunscreen, you already look like a gang of orange markers attacked you” I said handing her the bottle of SPF 70 she examined the bottle as she hit the gas pedal.

“Lila, you expect me to wear this? It’s summer for god’ s sake not Halloween and I don’t want to look like a pale ghost like you!” she said throwing the pink rigged bottle at me .

I snapped back into the moment remembering the picture that day from the beach, she looked like she was of Spanish descent, her long wavy black hair against her dark skin and then me looking like your typical Irish girl, long blonde hair and pale skin. She was wearing a leopard print bikini and I a black one piece. They both kind of suited our personality, me classic and simple and my sister’s risqué and vibrant.

“Did you hear me Lila” my mother said as she sniffled and took her left arm rubbing her blue blouse that accented her red hair and green eyes nicely.

“Yeah” I said as my voice also shook back to reality

“Your father will be bringing her home to get her things for the stay, they need to start the chemo immediately.” my mother said peering out the window.

It’s being told by the perspective of the younger sister, while her sister is in the hospital she will be with her for most of the time because her parents are working to pay all of the hospital bills, while Lila (Thinking about switching the names) is at the hospital she meets and begins a close friendship with Owen, who is dieing of cancer and has a slim chance of survival. Anyway in the end it looks as if Halley is going to make it so she focus’ her attention on Owen, but then in the final days of Halley’s life they find a MET rapidly growing on her lung, that soon kills her. Owen then makes it. The title would be “Short But Sweet”

while being diagnosed with breast cancer my relative took an overdose and is now in a mental health institute . No treatment was started and while in the institute nothing is being done and will not be done until she is more stable which could take a while, she has been unstable for quite a while before her diagnosis.

The laws vary from state to state, but the general rule is a person can be committed to a mental hospital if they are a danger to themselves or others. As long as she is a danger to herself, i.e. suicidal, she will remain committed. I suggest consulting with an attorney on this matter, a court order requiring the mental hospital to transport her to her doctor for cancer treatments may be necessary.
