Top Notch Braking Action from Mazda Brake Pad
Top Notch Braking Action from Mazda Brake Pad
Article by G. Wiggins
The Mazda brake pad is an important part of the braking system either you are using a drum or disc brakes. This is basically a steel backing plate with a friction material bonded or riveted to its surface facing the disc brake or drum. It has the capacity to convert the kinetic energy of your moving vehicle into a thermal energy due to friction. The brake pad is attached to the brake caliper, one at each side of the brake rotor. Early brake linings are made from asbestos since they known for their heat absorbing capacities and quiet braking operations. However, due to health risks, the use of asbestos has been outlawed so new and better friction materials are now used. Whenever the brake pedal is engaged, the brake fluid contained in the master cylinder is channeled to the brake caliper where it pushes against a piston. This piston will then do its job of compressing or squeezing the brake pads, allowing it to rub against the rotor. This process will create a friction that will stop the wheels from spinning.
When the Mazda brake pad is subjected to heat due to the friction it creates when it rub against the rotor or drum, it starts to transfer small fractions of material to the disc, which makes the pads look dull grey. The brake rotor and the disc, now having those friction materials on, will then “bind” at each other in order to provide an effective stopping power. However, the friction of the brake pad against the disc is the one greatly responsible for the majority of the stopping power. In disc brake applications, there are usually two brake pads employed per disc which are held in place and operated via the brake caliper that is attached to the wheel hub or suspension upright. In drum brake applications, the brake pads are attached to the wheel hub or mounting plate wherein the friction surfaces push out against the inside of the brake drum.
There are various types of Mazda brake pad and the difference will have to do with how long the pad will last and how quiet it operates during braking. Since it is a normal wear item in your vehicle, it is just right to properly follow its recommended replacement intervals stated on your owner’s manual. If your brake pads use hard linings, surely they last longer and stop better under all conditions, but it may produce an irritating squeal when the brake is applied. The brake pad should be inspected for wear periodically since it the lining wears down to the metal brake shoes, then a “metal-to-metal” contact will certainly occur which can cause grave damage and loss of braking efficiency. Some brake pads are equipped with a brake warning sensor that generates a squealing noise to indicate that the pad are worn to the point where they need to be changed. The noise is usually emitted when your foot is off the brake pedal and disappears as you step on it. If your vehicle is equipped with this sensor and you hear the noise, have your brakes inspected as soon as possible.

Q&A: I breathed in some green mold spore, what should I do?
Question by Seth Jhgjhgjh: I breathed in some green mold spore, what should I do?
I was growing some shiitake mushrooms and I followed the pf tek, when my jars finished colonizing, I opened it and saw green stuff and I touched it and a lot of powdery spore like things comes airborne and got some on my face and I breathed in a little.
So basically I breathed in some green mold spore yesterday, I think it is trichoderma or other mold, and today I cough a lot, not sore throat, but more like some irritation close to my lung and the airway.
So would I get cancer or something for breathing in green mold spore? Is there any OTC medicine I can get to cure the cough?
Is it serious?
Best answer:
Answer by Dr. House
No, most of the molds out there can not cause human disease. You’re probably experiencing an allergic reaction to the spores, and it should resolve on its own. There are very specific molds that can infect people, called aspergillus and Mucor. Both of these usually would be infective only if you were immunosuppressed, such as in AIDS, or if you were diabetic. Otherwise, give it a few days, and it should go away.

Q&A: Elementary School vs. Middle School vs. High School: Which was worse?
Question by ♥Jericho and Eve Are The Sh!t♥: Elementary School vs. Middle School vs. High School: Which was worse?
Elementary School: The level of school where picking on the fat kids, and kids with glasses is the cool thing to do.
Middle School:
1. A place where your parents drop you off to be ripped apart by your equals.
2. Where you go from being a sweet, cute, elementry school kid to being a poser goth cutter listening to Avril Lavinge.
3. Where your hopes and dreams are shattered just in time for the next pit of hell: highschool.
High School: High school is a failed experiment in preparing young people for the adult world. All high schools in the country were built around 1960 and were designed to hold about half as many students as they currently do. Nothing seems to work quite right in a high school building. The heaters only work during the summer and the air conditioning only works in the winter. The asbestos insulation has all fagged out and the building becomes an oven or a meat locker, depending on the time of year. The plumbing is usually a disaster in high school, with drinking fountains never working but toilets that never stop running.
High schools are usually poorly run by a team of out of touch assholes, also known as Principals, counselor, teachers, and ex-Marine drill sergeants (gym teachers). These people seem hell bent on destroying all hope for students through tedious testing, poorly planned projects, educational videos made during the Truman Administration, and text books that mention the Soviet Union on every page.
High school is also the place where the stress of growing up and the stress of fitting in join forces to destroy even the strongest among us. Most of High school is not spent learning but involves trying to find friends who aren’t complete douche bags, trying hook up with people of the opposite sex unsuccessfully, combing your hair, buying cloths in the effort that someone will notice you, working out so you will not get your ass kicked everyday, trying desperately to get rid of the zits that have taken over your face, driving a car that a homeless person wouldn’t piss in or riding on an over crowed bus while choking on diesel fumes, while people you don’t know make fun of you worse then your friends do, and on top of all of that, you must act like nothing is wrong in your life.
Cortesy from Urban Dictionary, which I agree with. For me, High School was the WORSE (friendship wise) but Middle School were bad emotional wise…

Asbestos Removal — How The Experts Do It
Asbestos Removal — How The Experts Do It
Article by Christine O’Kelly
Asbestos is a scary thing to find in your home or workplace because of the devastating effects it can have on your health. Even the smallest second hand exposure to this substance can cause mesothelioma, a terrible and often deadly cancer. Removal of this material is certainly not a job you want to do on your own, but knowing what is involved in cleaning it up is helpful. In all, professionals go through three main steps to eliminate this substance.
Gathering Protective Suits And Safety Equipment
Protective suits such as the right Tyvek suit and other safety equipment are extremely important when it comes to protecting professional cleanup personnel. A suitable respirator will protect the lungs of the expert while vented eye protection will keep their eyes clear. In addition to protective suits or a Tyvek suit, the expert will also need protective boot covers, rubber boots, and disposable rubber gloves.
Items such as rags, sealants, asbestos sealants, and tape are needed for the removal process. The experts will also need tank sprayers, detergent, ladders, putty knives, gyproc repair tape, and dust pans during the process. Lastly, you will find that professional removers rarely work on their own. Instead, you will notice that two of the experts wearing protective suits will do the actual removal. The third Tyvek suit-wearing expert will stand outside of the removal area to help pass supplies in and out of the contaminated areas.
Preparing For Removal
All of the small items need to be removed from the space and the area needs to be blocked off so that others not involved in the cleanup know to stay clear of the area. Heating and cooling systems also need to be sealed off to prevent spreading the fibers to other areas of the building. Next, the experts will take out anything the rogue fibers can be caught in. This includes fire safety equipment, lighting, and any other semi-permanent items in the room. Anything else left in the space will be sealed off with tape to prevent further contamination.
The next step for removal professionals is to contain the area and prepare it for cleanup. Any of the areas in the room that will not be worked on, including the ceilings, walls, windows, and doors, will be covered with a heavy layer of poly-plastic sheeting. A separate area will also be constructed temporarily to give the experts a place to change in and out of their protective suits.
The Elimination Of Asbestos Material From The Space
The single most important step for removing the harmful fibers is to ensure the entire area is well soaked with a mixture of water and detergent. This prevents the dry threads from flying through the air and spreading to other areas. This includes the contaminated area as well as the protective sheeting. The professionals will then use items such as scrapers and putty knives to peel the asbestos from the surface and drop it into a small pan that can be dumped into specialized disposal bags. Once the bulk of the material has been cleared away, the experts will thoroughly clean the area with a clean rag and toss them out in the same manner as the fibers themselves. Once the job is complete, any items that were used in the clean up including their Tyvek suit, safety equipment, and clean up tools are all disposed of in those specialized bags as well. This waste is then buried in a specific landfill designed specifically for these highly toxic items.
Getting even one of these dangerous asbestos fibers inside the protective suits and into your body can be deadly. Therefore, hiring a team of experts is the best way to remove this substance and ensure everyone is kept safe.

Q&A: Does my vinyl tile floor have asbestos?
Question by jus_some_dude: Does my vinyl tile floor have asbestos?
My home was bulit in 1980. From what I know I’m the 3rd owner. I want to replace the 12″x12″ vinyl tiles in the laundry room. The tiles are worn and damaged, so I am unable to lay new tile on top of existing tile floor. What is the possibility that the existing tiles contain asbestos? Supposedly homes built after 1980 don’t have too worry about this, but with my home having been built in 1980, I not sure I want to test my luck.
Best answer:
Answer by WhachooSay
If they are very brittle, chances are high. Get an asbestos mask. Or float the floor. Either way, just do something. You’re exposing yourself to something, no getting around that. Keep it wet.

Can smelling nail polish/nail polish remover cause lung cancer or something?
Question by Anonymous: Can smelling nail polish/nail polish remover cause lung cancer or something?
I paint my nails a lot and try not to smell it but sometimes I accidentally inhale a lot of it and also nail polish remover. Is it bad?
Best answer:
Answer by namairb2
Not unless you put it right up to your nose and snort the fumes. The truth is most of these polishes and removers now have been made perfectly safe so you can feel free to polish and remove all you want and still not have any ill effects on your health. That’s just one reason they came out with acetate free remover. Please don’t ever intentionally sniff these though. I’m not too sure why anyone would actually do that, but nothing can be obtained by doing it. Some people thought long ago that it might be a cheap way to find to get high like glue sniffers. Those days are long gone as today’s market has only types that you can use for your nails. Good luck and God Bless
