True Story from 1992; This whole entire Song was inspired by an incident where I was getting just one of my car’s brakes fixed because one day as I was driving in Bel Air, I hit like this big typical LA Pot-hole on Sunset Blvd and it jolted my car and almost made me lose control of the vehicle !! The hole in the ground shattered one of my brake pads into an asbestos explosion …and it also dented my rim too…Anyway, I had to have my car (A 1980′s era Brown Izusu pick up truck) towed to this brake place where I told them that I went over a hole in the road and that it ruined my one front brake…Well, the guy told me that i needed ALL MY BRAKES RE-DONE…and I just said “No no dude..I just had them all replaced about a week ago”..”Don’t need to work on any other wheel but the front passenger one”…Anyway, when I came back to get my truck ( It took them like an agonizing 5 days of my stress), I found that some other mechanic had REPLACED ALL MY BRAKES FRONT and REAR and they gave me this bill for like 09.00 dollars (Big money in 1992 and much more than car was worth)…And I was like..”Dude..I told You blah blah” ..and it was some different dude who was like… ; “Well no one told me”…aND i WAS LIKE “i JUST PAID 600 BUCKS about a week ago already at some other shop man !!”You get all that new shit outta there NOW AND YOU GIVE ME BACK MY TRUCK NOW !! I NEED MY TRUCK FOR WORK!!”…And I remember he was like “Here talk to my manager…!!” ; Well I somehow got their …
Well here it is as promised, the full length version of the replacement of brake shoes. It seems my viewers have an interest in 2 things in particular, brakes and check engine lights so here are some brakes for you. To tell the truth I don’t do too many drum brake jobs these days so I’m a little rusty but the principals here are sound and should get you through a basic drum brake job. A couple of things to note here, I replaced the drums on this particular job but if you have enough “meat” left on the drums you can have them machined for a lot less than replacing them.
