Green Scissors – Where to Cut and Where to Invest (Questions and Answers)
Cutting waste and powering up the economy should be the focus of the upcoming federal government, says the Green Party of Canada. The Greens have suggested a list of potential inclusions for the budget to Finance Minister Flaherty. “All of the elements we have suggested are politically practical and should be in line with the Conservative Party policy goals. Minister Flaherty may have already included some of them, but we wanted to offer our ideas in the spirit of cooperation,” said Green Leader Elizabeth May, Member of Parliament for Saanich-Gulf Islands. Greens have suggested increasing federal revenue by closing loopholes for off-shore tax havens (saving .2 billion), taxing estates exceeding million (bringing in .5 billion/year) and raising the corporate tax rate back to the 2009 level of 19%, still competitive with OECD rates (saving .5 billion). “With these three measures that mostly target the richest portion of the population, we can create savings that can be used to get Canadians back to work and reduce the deficit,” said May. Tax relief for business, workers and youth is the best way to stimulate the stagnating economy. Greens suggest eliminating the punitive increases in EI payments and deductions and investing in youth employment programs. “Our focus should be on supporting the small and medium businesses that are the lifeblood of our economy,” said May. “They should not be stifled by a regulatory burden that makes it harder to employ people in good …
Q&A: Where do I go to get answers about end of life legal issues?
Question by Teresa P: Where do I go to get answers about end of life legal issues?
I have a friend who has end stage lung cancer. He would like to make bequests of his personal property (house, car, etc) where can we get information on how to do this without the expense of a private attorney?
Best answer:
Answer by manabell
Unless your friend already works with a financial advisor who knows about estate planning as well, you really do need to consult an attorney who specializes in estate planning.
He needs to make sure his will is current, beneficiary designations on IRA’s, etc. are correct, power of attorney, healthcare power of attorney are ok.
These are important issues that must be addressed. Consider the cost peace of mind.
After all, if his will is not in order, his things will go through probate and he will fork over that money in tax. In actuality, he is saving money by hiring the attorney.

22 year old female need answers to lung problems?
Question by : 22 year old female need answers to lung problems?
I am a 22 year old female and I have been smoking cigrettes since i was 15 or so.I smoke about half a pack a day.A month or so ago I started having excessive coughing and I thought I just had the cold.It has persisted since and I also find myself short of breathe after barely doing anything.I dont know if smoking has caused this or if it is some outside influence.Any information would help. athsma, phenomia enphizma, swine flu????
Best answer:
Answer by Joe
Look up information on COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
The irritation of inhaling smoke is making the millions of little air tubes inside your lungs inflamed, or swollen. The same way your eyes go red and watery if you get smoke in them. This makes you short of breath and makes you cough.
Smoking makes the mucous producing cells inside your lungs go into overdrive, this produces extra secretions (leading to more coughing/shortness of breath). Over years and years, these rapidly multiplying mucous producing cells can go haywire and grow into a tumor or lung cancer. Over years, the inflammation of your airways will lead to irreversible scarring and loss of elasticity. This gives you Emphysema which is a severe late stage of COPD.
My advice, quit smoking now while you’re still young : )

Who wants ten points? Here is a test!!! Do you know the answers?
Question by kasey. ♥: Who wants ten points? Here is a test!!! Do you know the answers?
Many people spend a large portion of time indoors- as much as 80-90% or their lives. We work, study, eat, drink and sleep in enclosed environments where air circulation may be restricted. For those reasons, some experts feel that more people suffer from the effects of indoor air pollution more than outdoor pollution.
There are many sources of indoor air pollution. Tobacco smoke, cooking and heating appliances, and vapors from building materials, paints, furniture, etc. cause pollution inside buildings. Radon is a natural radioactive gas released from the earth and it can be found concentrated in basements in some part of the United States.
Pollution exposure at home and work is often greater than outdoors. The California Air Resources Board estimates that indoor air pollutant levels are 25-62% greater than outside levels and can pose serious health problems. Both indoor and outdoor pollution needs to be controlled and/or prevented.
How can we prevent the damaging effects of air pollution?
Directions: Read the following samples of student work, and determine if each is an example of plagiarism or not. Then answer the question by saying the appropriate letter.
Quoted from: LBL: “Indoor Air Pollution” Indoor and outdoor air pollution, ELSI. Web 15 Sept. 2009.
A. No.
B. Yes because it is COPIED material without the use of QUOTATION MARKS.
C. Yes because it is QUOTED material without documentation.
D.Yes. because it is PARAPHRASED material without documentation.
1. Radon is a natural radioactive gas released from parts of the earth, and it can be found concentrated in basements in some parts of the united states. (LBL, 2009.)
2. Tobacco smoke, vapors and cooking and heating appliances are some different sources of indoor air pollution.
3. Indoor pollution levels are greater than outdoor pollution levels and “can pose serious health problems” (LBL, 2009).
4. “Many people spend large portions of time indoors- as much as 80-90% of their lives”
5. Pollution is a growing problem for our generation, and it is our responsibly to make it change for the better.

My possibility of getting cancer and hypertension? Answers please?
Question by : My possibility of getting cancer and hypertension? Answers please?
My dad’s sister and mom both died of breast cancer. My mom’s father died of lung cancer and those are the only people I know of in my family. I have a 3 fibroadenomas on my breasts that are benign but I still worry from time to time. So what are my chances? How can I prevent this early?
Also, my dad has Hypertension and I’m in the Pre-Hypertension stage. I’m 19 and I often get symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, light headedness, fatigue, sometimes my vision is blurry. Also, when I go to the doc, the nurse repeatedly takes my blood pressure until its at a “normal” level. Could this be affecting my health? Why don’t they want to admit my blood pressure is high?
Thanks!
Well i don’t smoke, drink, and i try to eat healthy but being in college, I don’t have to the time to cook that often. I try to exercise but with work and homework time is crunched.

Answer by Doctor J
Hi MzMarine. The good news is: 1) there are many basic things you can do to reduce your risk for cancers and your risk for hypertension, and 2) they are essentially the SAME things!
Here is a simple list of things that can reduce your risks for cancers and hypertension:
1) Maintain a normal body weight.
2) Exercise moderately every day (e.g. 30-60 minutes of brisk walking).
3) Eat a healthy diet – no junk foods, fast foods, or processed foods; eat at least 5 servings of FRESH fruits and vegetables every day, eat 3 servings of REAL whole grains daily, consume moderate amounts of red meat, and eat fresh, deep-sea fish 1 -2X per week (or take a quality fish oil supplement).
4) Avoid smoking (and all other sources of smoke).
5) Get enough exposure to sunlight to maintain a high level of Vitamin D production but not too much sunlight that can damage your skin.
6) Take a quality vitamin/mineral supplement every day as recommended by the American Medical Association (JAMA June 19, 2002).
Best wishes and good luck.

while replying to the questions put to him by
the participants of the gathering rahul gandhi

of atomic power with other sources of energy
like coal one should take the health related
issues and expences also tobe taken into
consideration. For example ‘coal mining and
its burning does cause respiratory system
diseases’ but i wonder weather atomic reactors

gives mankind foolproof healthy environment?
Best answer:
Answer by parshuram
Partly.Because buring fossel fuel (like Coal, petrol) does release harmfull elements which are bad for the environment. Now though nuclear energy is much cleaner as it does not release similar substances but the biggest problem of Nuclear power is “Nuclear Waste”. This is a hazardous material and it needs to be stored safely.Further this waste remains in existence for centuries as it contains radioactive material. Many countries have built speical facilities to store this waste.Mind you if there is leakage or improper storage it will be unimaginably harmfull. Also there is a danger of Nuclear power plants being terrorism targets and Nuclear power plant accidents.

Mum has stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer? need answers?
Question by : Mum has stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer? need answers?
Hi my mum has stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer, she only has a few spots on her lung and liver. They said the cancer is treatable but not curable and could put her into remission. I’ve never been so scared in my whole life, I want things to go back to normal. My grandmother (her Mum) also has breast cancer now. I am so scared, I’ve recently been positive, but reading stuff online has lead me to fear her dying. I already have a severe fear of death myself and of other people, in fact it sent me into depression thinking about death a year and a half ago. Im only 21 and I dont want cancer to destroy everyones lives. My Mum’s only 43, she has so much life to live. Theres no guarantee she’s going to be here and it makes me want to die myself. I couldnt live without her and I refuse to. I was always a clingy child and a mummy’s girl. What do i do? could she survive this ? i need peoples stories, anything to give me hope

whenever worried.. just pray to God.. though i’m a doctor, i believe there are many things on this world for which only God can answer… trust him!
