Well, by nature of what exercise is and does, we do know that it does indeed improve mood (endorphins). Exercise also by nature of what it is doing helps you have more energy. We also know that it does decrease body fat and increase muscle.
Now, exercise is NOT going to cure cancer. But by the things that exercise does, it helps you keep moving and keep fighting.
There are many statistics that almost prove that having a better mood and outlook will help you survive and heal after cancer.
Also, exercise works your lungs, which will help from pnemonia setting in. It was always preached to me, if nothing else, get up and walk, as the breathing will help the lungs.
I dont have a source outside my experince with cancer. I know that doesnt count for your paper, but…
Just make sure you understand they are not saying exercise will cure cancer. They are saying exercise is an important part of the over all treatment, because it does the things it does.

Very few insurance companies cover anyone with existing conditions .
And legitimate ones that do will be over a $ 1000 a month .
If she applied for Social Security Disability , she will get Medicare 24 months after the SSDI starts .
Sorry about that , but medical care reality suckkkkkks .

I think its bs.
I think allowing people to be healthy allows them to be out and working instead of sitting on their rear collecting disability.
I think that an official cure of any type would bring in more profits and revenue than what these people currently dream of making.
An umbrella cure is virtually impossible – cancer itself is an umbrella term for an entire class of diseases, not a single disease. Out in the public we say things like breast cancer or skin cancer or stomach cancer, like its all the same thing. but the doctors use long words, and there are different types of cancer. I had leukemia, and there are something like a dozen different types of leukemia. They all have things in common, but each one has its own specific symptoms and its own causes, and its own effects, and therefore its own treatment.
I think it is very easy to be cynical about gov and health care. And I think it is very easy to beleive something like this if you arent medically educated or have been through cancer yourself enough to know the medical side of whats going on. I believe pharmaceutical companies are greedy bastards, and currently in the US health care is a luxury for the rich.
But I dont believe scientists world wide are holding back a cure for fear of loosing money, simply because people would pay far more for something that is definitely a cure than they do for horrible treatment that gives you a 50/50 shot at best.

My father worked full time until April, when he became ill. He is also retired and receives SS retirement benefits. He applied for and received short term disability from his company in April and has been receiving payments every month.
The problem is that, now that he’s approaching time to go into long term disability, his company is NOW telling him that because he’s receiving retirement benefits, they’ll have to reduce his disability checks.
I am wondering why his company did not bring this up while he was receiving short term disability. His retirement and receiving of SS benefits are not a secret, all the info’s right there if they access his SS# AND it’s not illegal, it’s ok to work and receive SS benefits.
Is he not entitled to both LTD and SS benefits? It’s upsetting him a great deal; on top of fighting for his life (he has stage IV lung cancer), he has to worry about this stuff, too.

I was hoping someone here would have an answer to this. My dad was in the Air Force between 1961-1964, and received an honorable discharge. At the moment he is undergoing chemotherapy for lung cancer and he is out of work, but not yet eligible to retire. He applied for disability, but hasn’t received anything yet, plus thats only a fraction of what he makes anyway. Does anyone know if he might be able to receive help because he was in the military. Money is really tight right now. My sister passed away recently and my parents are caring for her children, and I had to come back home from school to try to get a job that pays reasonably well to help them out. If anyone knows of kind of service that could help I’d really appreciate it. Thanks

You could phone S.S. and ask but be warned it takes 2-3 years to get disability, so be prepared to wait.

Professionally, I’m a big believer in guided imagery as an adjunct to traditional cancer treatment, but I don’t know what books are out there for the patient. What have you read or could you recommend? She’s open to the idea, but isn’t sure. I’d like to buy her a book on the subject. To help me choose, please explain why you liked it?

My dad is a Veteran of Vietnam, he is at the point of he life where he really needs to see a dotor about his health…regarding his heritage, diabetes and blood pressure and some serious dental work too. I am really worried for him. He is a very hard worker, and won’t just take a min for himself, he is always about helping others first and work work work…. He rally needs a break, he was self employed most of his life dealing with asbestos training people to remove it properly, and actually doing it himself too… years ago they didn’t have the safety they have now to deal with that stuff properly, he has no health insurance and can’t afford any really. So what i am asking is there anyone out there that knows who I can talk to about the VA hospitals about getting him covered by the VA or something… don’t they get benefits, or some sort of assistance… I am worried that they won’t help because he wasn’t injured in the military

He can receive disablity living allowance. There is a section on the form which you fill in if the person is terminal and so the application gets dealt with quicker.
You can also receive carer’s allowance yourself for taking care of him.
