Signing of Letters of Intent to Collaborate between 4 Latin American countries and NCI
On September 29-30, 2009, the US National Cancer Institute, part of the National Institutes of Health, signed letters of intent to collaborate in cancer research efforts with the governments of Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Uruguay. These bilateral partnerships aim to accelerate progress against cancer in Hispanic populations in the United States and Latin America, and improve cancer research.

:I was diagnosed with CD at a very early age (9 months, i’m 24 year old now) and treated at that age. I had developed normally, without any of the physical defects associated to the disease, but my immune system has always been sort of fluctuant, and i grew predisposed to respiratory and small gastrological problems (I have asthma, and had pneumonia almost every year, as a child) . I would like to know where is the connection between the disease and body immunity, and most of all , does CD still influence the body immunity even if the disease, in an acute form, has been controlled by medication, in the beginning, and diet, for so many years?

Celiac disease, as you may already know, is an autoimmune problem. The immune system builds up antibodies against itself and attacks the small intestine causing damage. You still have antibodies, is my guess.

My dr put me on ActosplusMet & I’ve read that if you have congestive heart disease that you shouldn’t take it. She also thinks I might be in the early stages of COPD so I’m pretty concerned. I haven’t seen her since I’ve read about this so I thought I would ask here.

It’s really hard to find this research, unless you already know this. I would like the the ingredients of both cigarettes and pipe tobacco, and if regular pipe tobacco causes lung cancer too. Are there additives in both of them? Are there still just as addictive? i don’t want biased answers. Please help!

Most pipe tobacco has an additive to make it smell or taste good. These flavors that are added can cause cancer, more so than just plain tobacco. Pipe tobacco really isn’t intended to be inhaled, nor a cigars, it is more for the aroma. cigarettes don’t contain the additives and have a filter to help block the tar and what not. I push my own cigarettes in tubes and some times add a little pipe tobacco (like a pinch for evey 10) so to give it a good smell. Oh and you may think class A or J are the quality of tobacco that is not so It is for taxing purpose. The class has to do with the amount being sold for use. The more Quantity the less tax. I don’t know the actual chemicals they put in the tobacco but I do know if you inhale it a bunch you’ll be coughing and have a scratchy voice.

My husband had another MRI. Now they said he has a mass in his colon. They also called it a tumor. How can they tell this with the MRI? The mass could be something else. According to what I have read, lung cancer does not go to the colon.

Once it metastasises cancer can spread to any part of the body. The MRI only shows whats there the doctors interpret that information based on their knowledge of the patient. MRI cannot actually tell its actually cancer it shows any mass or growth as a picture only.

My birthday is on June 26, about 7 days away from a gemini, so i was wondering could I be a cancer-gemini? I am sensitive, sentimental, nurtering, loving, and cuddly. BUT I have another personality that is wild just like a gemini. Trates like being wild, wanting to go everywhere all the time, and things like that.
I just met a gemini and already fell in love with him pretty much the first 5 minutes, but the sites are saying when there is romance between a cancer and gemini, the gemini will tend to fool the cancer into thinking they’re a real charmer.
But maybe if I have gemini tendencies it would work?

My 80 year old mother was just diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. We’re learning about it now. She’s had increased shortness of breath over the months and has a dry cough for quite some time. Many years ago (probably 5-8…she can’t remember), she took the drug Macrodantin to help relieve her urinary track infections. I’m just understanding now there could be a link between that and developing pulmonary fibrosis. Can anyone comment and/or offer some insight? Her condition is considered “moderate” by a pulmanologist. She’s about to undergo the “breathing functionality” test, but hasn’t done so as of yet. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance. Also should she be changing her diet at all (or any tips there?). Thanks.
