Q&A: Is it possible to have 2 different types of cancers simultaneously and not even know it?
Question by xyz1: Is it possible to have 2 different types of cancers simultaneously and not even know it?
I am wondering if it’s possible to have 2 types of cancers simultaneously and not even know it….as weird or as stupid as that sounds…..I suspect I may have early stage throat or lung cancer since I have alot of weird symptoms (see my other question for details) but I also think I might have stomach cancer as well. I get these SEVERE tummy aches all the time (even when I’m not on my period or due to start it for several days) and can’t help but think of what it is. I don’t think it could be endometriosis but what do I know? I’m no doctor, nor can I afford to see one right now, which is why I’m hoping a doctor could answer my question on here. My tummy also hurts alot before AND after I eat, many times. Is this normal? What’s the deal?

Detection of Bile Duct and Pancreatic Cancers Doubles With New Tests
Pancreatic cancer and bile duct cancer are difficult to diagnose and often fatal because they are discovered in the advanced stages of the disease. Researchers have developed new tests that double the ability to detect bile duct and pancreatic cancers according to a Mayo Clinic study Bile duct and pancreatic cancers are very difficult to diagnose, says Lewis Roberts, MD, Mayo Clinic gastroenterologist and senior author on the study. We were very pleased to see that the combination of FISH and cytology significantly improved our chances of diagnosing patients reliably. The earlier we can diagnose a patient, the better the types of treatment we can offer and the more likely they are to have long-term survival after treatment.

Q&A: what are all the possibilities of lung cancers spreading and where to?
Question by : what are all the possibilities of lung cancers spreading and where to?
please help. what effects can lung ancer have on a person and whats the life expectancy.
Best answer:
Answer by norton g
Aoife, the possibilities of lung cancer spreading, where to, and life expectancy has several possibilities. First is the type of lung cancer; second is the stage or other body places where it has already spread when first discovered. Lung cancer can spread to just about anywhere in the body, Then it depends upon the effect of treatment such as surgery, radiation, or chemotherapy. It also depends on the general health of the patient. Still, many patients do survive and some are even cured of this worrisome cancer.

Q&A: what are the different types of cancers?, and how can you protect your health?
Question by melina s: what are the different types of cancers?, and how can you protect your health?
Best answer:
Answer by rbanzai
There are many different kinds of cancers, and even more theories on what can protect you.
There are some simple and undisputed practices, but nothing guarantees 100% protection. Examples would be not smoking (to avoid getting lung cancer) and protecting yourself from excessive sun exposure (to avoid getting skin cancer.)
The good news is that this is part of any healthy lifestyle and gives other benefits. If you’re just focussed on cancer check out the American Cancer Society’s website for more info.

What types of cancers are there that kill within a year?

I think just about all of them, even if they are treated. My brother died within 7 months of pancreatic cancer and he had all the treatment he could take. An uncle died of colon cancer three days after they told him he had it.

Q&A: What are the symptoms of various common cancers?
Question by Joan: What are the symptoms of various common cancers?
Could you list the basic symptoms of these cancers?
Stomach Cancer [most likely]
Breast Cancer
Ovarian Cancer
Liver Cancer
Colon Cancer
..and any other cancer common in women age 50+
I think my mother has cancer, and these are her symptoms:
-She goes to the restroom every 20 minutes
-Pain in lower abdomen, apparently (doctor said) caused by stress from her work (lawyer), but now has spread to her upper under-chest area…
-Always tired
-Easily stressed
She’s not sexually active anymore, if that makes any difference. Never used birth control or condoms.
Thanks. She’s going for a checkup next month, but I think it would be better if we all were ready for a possible diagnosis.
Evie, f*** u. The last thing I need when I ask a serious question is scam spam. Take your shit and go somewhere else, I’m not clicking on your virus-infected site.
What? another one?
Urine…she goes every 20 minutes, even less sometimes.

Answer by Baa Baa
This is kind of hard to answer since there are different types of cancer, different types of cancer cells, different rates of growth, etc. I think the best thing I could say to answer this is that anything out of the usual needs checked out such as pain in an area where you never had pain before, unusual bleeding or discharges of any kind, any kind of unusual lump that is present, etc. I think we should also pay attention to how we feel like if something just doesn’t feel right or you are have become super tired and get fatigued easily. Of course none of this means it is malignant cancer, but we need to pay attention to our bodies more and get checked routinely.
Some cancers have no symptoms until the disease has progressed to the later stage. This is the case with ovarian cancer which can be silent and you never know you have it until it is pretty far advanced. You don’t say why your mother has to go to the bathroom so frequently (urine or bowel?) I assume it is urine, but that could be just a common urinary tract infection or something minor. The symptoms you describe can be from so many things other than cancer, so I don’t want you to think it is the worst thing right now. I learned this years ago when a doctor misdiagnosed me with malignant ovarian cancer. Told me he was 99% sure I had it. I had to wait a month to go to a top gun cancer specialist oncologist to find out when I was going to die only to be told nothing was wrong with my ovaries and I had no cancer. So please don’t worry until you really have something to worry about. I know you are concerned for your mom, but have hope it is something that can be treated and she will be fine.
My brother just recently had the same symptoms as your mom and it turned out to be kidney stones. Not very pleasant to have but treatable and he is fine now. I’m not saying this is what your mom has, but I just want to give you an example of reasons why not to think it’s the worst thing possible. Don’t put yourself through that. Wish your mom the best. If she is having a lot of pain, she should see a doctor sooner than next month to find out why.

Q&A: What about the rest of the cancers?
Question by AprilSS: What about the rest of the cancers?
I am by no means trying to be ignorant or insensitive but there’s something I’ve always wondered….why are there so many races, fund raisers, and awareness programs for breast cancer? What about all of the other types of cancer that kills people. Bladder cancer, prostate, esophageal, lung, etc. Why isn’t there as much attention towards those?
I am all for all of the programs for breast cancer, but I think there should be equal attention for the other ones as well. I lost an uncle to esophageal cancer, an aunt from bladder cancer, and a dear friend from lung cancer. My boss is fighting skin cancer for the 2nd time around.
Best answer:
Answer by Memere RN/BA
Hi April, I know it sounds like all they do is give for breast cancer research, but there are also walks for leukemia. Just yesterday someone asked for a team name for a leukemia walk. They are fundraisers for all kinds of cancer it’s just that breast cancer is so prevalent among women and when caught on time can be cured. A lot of cancers cannot but they still do a lot of research on them. In my family, we’ve had a great deal of cancer survivors and a great deal of cancer death. My brother died of brain and spinal cancer. All my mothers sisters and her mother as well, died of breast cancer. My nephew died of lung cancer. Believe me just because you don’t always hear about the races or walks or fundraisers, they’re out there. I’ve been to a few. Good question and you’re not being ignorant or insensitive, just curious. God bless
