Dugway Proving Ground Chemical Warfare Testing Utah 1955
The mission of Dugway is to test US and Allied biological & chemical defense systems; perform Nuclear Biological Chemical survivable testing of defense material; provide support to chemical and biological weapons conventions; and Operate and maintain an installation to support test mission. Dugway is located approximately 80 miles west-southwest of Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1941, the Chemical Warfare Service (CWS) determined that it needed a large-scale chemical and biological warfare testing area. With increased population growth near the US Armys Edgewood Arsenal, MD, and because of restrictions on various testing there, the CWS surveyed the western US for a new location to conduct its tests. The construction of Dugway Proving Ground began in the spring of 1942. DPG was officially established 12 February 1942, and testing commenced in the summer of that year. During World War II, DPG tested toxic agents, flame throwers, chemical spray systems, biological warfare weapons, antidotes for chemical agents, and protective clothing. In October 1943, DPG established biological warfare facilities at an isolated area within DPG (Granite Peak). DPG was slowly phased out after WWII, becoming inactive during August 1946. The base was reactivated during the Korean War and in 1954 was confirmed as a permanent Department of Army installation. In October 1958, DPG became home to the US Army Chemical, Biological, and Radiological (CBR) Weapons School, which moved from the US Army Chemical …
Semiconductor Industry Workers Ask for Chemical Information 1979 Working For Your Life LOHP
This clip is from the late 1970s in the early days of the semiconductors industry and before workers had the right to know what chemicals they worked with and were exposed to on the job.. Due to rapid changes in this industry, manufacturing processes and their associated hazards may change completely every few years. These changes make hazard assessments more difficult to complete and require that they be conducted more often. Common hazards may include exposure to solvents, acid and caustic solutions, toxic metals, and radiation. For a look at the hazards from the late 1990s, read the article Where the Chips Fall at www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov . For current information, go to OSHA’s website at www.osha.gov This is from the wonderful 1979 film, Working for Your Life (58 minutes, Labor Occupational Health Program) explores the health and safety conditions of America’s working women by examining the hazards and demands they face in their workplaces. Andrea Hricko and Ken Light, working for LOHP at the time, created this important documentary film. The film is based on the 1976 handbook – Working for Your Life: A Woman’s Guide to Job Health Hazards, by Andrea Hricko with Melanie Brunt. A joint publication of Labor Occupational Health Program and Public Citizen’s Health Research Group This handbook is available on the internet at content.cdlib.org . Filmed in over 40 workplaces, this film highlights occupations that are both traditional ones for women (such as clerical and hospital …

Vote DOW Chemical for Greenwash Gold 2012
Vote Dow Chemical for Greenwash Gold 2012: www.greenwashgold.org The Dow Chemical Company has a long, sordid, history of environmental crimes spanning many decades. They produced Agent Orange to be sprayed on innocent Vietnamese people; they lied about the safety of their products, while people were being poisoned; they bribed officials in order to register banned, dangerous pesticides; and they’ve regularly poisoned the rivers and the air around their factories. After World War II, who do you think employed the Nazi scientist responsible for developing the gas that killed millions of Jews? Step forward Dow Chemical. Dow GreenwashGoldBut, we are the Bhopal Medical Appeal, and our main issue with Dow is their connection to the 1984 Bhopal Gas disaster and the ongoing chemical contamination that sees, to this day, thousands of people drinking water heavily contaminated with dangerous chemicals. The Bhopal Gas Disaster began on the night of the 2nd/3rd December 1984 at a Union Carbide pesticide factory in Bhopal, India. The Dow Chemical Company acquired the Union Carbide Corporation (UCC), back in 2001, and are happy to claim that they have nothing to do with the disaster. Just one simple set of facts should explain otherwise: In 1987, UCC were criminally charged with ‘Culpable Homicide’ for the gas disaster and Dow knew full well it was acquiring UCC’s criminal liability when they merged. Dow was summonsed, by the Bhopal Courts, in 2005 and asked why it had not produced UCC …

How to eliminate heavy metals and chemical toxins using sauna therapy Part 2
www.balancedhealthtoday.com www.balancedhealthtoday.com Cadmium is also a toxic heavy metal that can severely damage our health. It can be found in the water, soil, food, air, batteries and industrial paints and solder. But the highest level of cadmium can be found in the cigarette smoke. Cadmium exposure can make our bones more fragile and raise fracture risk and can cause slow growth, zinc deficiency, kidney stones, decreased appetite and sore joints. If we breathe contaminated air, we drink water or eat food that has high levels of cadmium we can cause severe damage to our lungs, stomach and we can even die. Inorganic arsenic is also included in the list of harmful toxic chemicals that can affect our health in a negative way. It can be found in the air, food, water and soil. If inorganic arsenic is inhaled, it can cause lung cancer; many studies have proven that people who work in smelters, mines and arsenical chemical factories or in the area where these are placed, are very susceptible to develop lung cancer. People are also exposed to aluminum compounds which can cause anemia, headaches, speech disturbance, memory loss, extreme anxiety, decreased liver and kidney function and even Alzheimer’s disease. Aluminum compounds are mostly present in certain medicinal products, such as laxatives and antacids, and deodorants. People who have kidney problems store a large amount of aluminum in their bodies; they can even develop brain or bone diseases due to a high aluminum …

Chemical Reaction to cure cancer?
Question by whatever: Chemical Reaction to cure cancer?
You have figured out how to make a compound that can cure cancer (Congratulations!). However, to do so, you need to perform a chemical reaction for exactly 15 minutes. Unfortunately, your laboratory is ancient (thanks to budget cuts at the National Institutes of Health) and all you have at hand is two hour glasses. For one of the hour glasses, the sand will run through in 11 minutes; the sand in the other hour glass will run through in 7 minutes. Explain how you can use these two hour glasses to measure exactly 15 minutes and cure cancer forever. Note: these hour glasses are sealed, therefore you may not transfer sand between them.

turn both upside down. when small one runs out at 7 min, turn small one upside down, when big one runs out at 11 min in, turn small one upside down. ones small one runs out, thats 15 min
or, u can turn both upside down, when small one runs out, start the time, and let big one run out giving you 4 min, then big one over again to give you the other 11 min
2nd method is easier

Q&A: White Residue in Soviet GP5 mask, rubber residue or dangerous chemical?
Question by : White Residue in Soviet GP5 mask, rubber residue or dangerous chemical?
I just bought a GP5 gas mask for my brother (he’s a collector, no fetiche thing going) and we noticed there’s some greyish eraser-like residue sticking to the mask, which is made of rubber. Let’s remember that these things were manufactured during the Cold War, so the rubber might be up to 40 years old. The question is, is it a common thing between old rubber stuff or should we be worried about asbestos or any other biohazard chemical/radioactive residue?

There are a lot of different types of chemotherapy drugs and they act in different ways. Maybe what you should try doing is research a specific class of drug and draw up reaction schemes for that specific class of drug.
Here’s a good place to find different types of chemotherapy drugs and a basic overview of what they are. You might try something like Google Scholar to find free journal articles about some specific biochemical reaction schemes.

AMAZON The word that stands for GREATNESS, STRENGHT AND NATURE. And one-fourth of the oxygen in the entire world is produced by the Amazon rain forests. They’re known as “the lungs of the earth.” An ecosystem protecting an earth’s biological treasures. More than 10 million species of plants, animals and insects live in the forest. The Amazon contains the largest collection of living plants, species animals on earth. Evergreen as far as the eyes can see, at least 3000 edible fruits are hidden here. The natives used 2000 of these. Only 200 fruits are available in the West. The natural healing power of theses treasures of the Amazons has not gone unnoticed in the scientific world and those who seek the fountain of youth. The US National Cancer Institute said that 70% of these 3000 plants that are active are found in the rain forest. Today 20% of the western pharmaceutical ingredients are found in the Amazon rainforest. The Amazon is still largely undiscovered. In the heart of the forest ……….stands the tallest palm tree in the world. And from that tree comes the most grand treasure…..the small, round, dark violet berry….the ACAI berry. Because acai palms are the tallest trees in the Amazon and provide shade for the other vegetation, they’ve learned to adapt to absorb more solar radiation than other plant sin the forest. And because the rain forest is, in fact rain forest, acai palms must survive flood conditions that often leave their trunks under water for days and …

If a product contains a chemical that is used to induce skin cancer in lab animals…?
Question by neminly: If a product contains a chemical that is used to induce skin cancer in lab animals…?
Should that product require labeling stating that the chemical is used to induce skin cancer in lab animals?
How about if those lab animals were the same animals used to study skin cancer treatments?
How about it the products containing the chemical used to induce skin cancer in mice, rats and hamsters was being heavily marketed to teenagers?
I was just seeking labeling thoughts. However I do have a ton of research showing that there is quite likely a direct correlation between skin cancer and benzoyl peroxide.
Here’s a couple of study excerpts…
1. “Benzoyl peroxide has been shown to be a tumor promoter and progression agent in a number of animal studies. The clinical significance of this is unknown.”
“Benzoyl peroxide in acetone at doses of 5 and 10 mg administered twice per week induced skin tumors in transgenic Tg.AC mice in a study using 20 weeks of topical treatment.”
NOTE: Acetone is simply alcohol. Another common ingredient in skin care products.
2. “Inorganic peroxide (H(2)O(2))-mediated malignant transformation was also enhanced effectively by iron.”
3. “Benzoyl peroxide promotes the formation of melanotic tumors in the skin of 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene-initiated Syrian golden hamsters.”
4. “CONCLUSION: This study indicated that benzoyl peroxide could increase carcinogenesis of golden hamster
No, these are all recent studies. The rates used to induce skin cancer are lower than is being used on the faces of our children. And these kids are slopping it on like it’s finger-paint. The source of these studies is the National Library of Medicine.

What is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome?
What is Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome?
Article by Derek Schimmel
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome, or MCS, is a condition that people suffer from after being exposed to dangerous toxins or chemicals for an extended period of time. As a result, sufferers of MCS will develop a heightened sensitivity to whatever substance it was that originally caused the sickness. Any number of events can lead to MCS, from an oil spill to a hurricane. In fact, many people in New Orleans that were stuck in the city after Hurricane Katrina showed symptoms of MCS from the harmful particles floating through the water that flooded the city.
The following are symptoms that are commonly associated with MCS:
* Fatigue* Dizziness* Nausea* Irritability* Irregular heart beats* Muscle atrophy* Diarrhea* Gas & bloating* Mood swings* Difficulty concentrating* Head and body congestion* Memory loss* Skin rash
Most doctors are still confused about the principles of Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome. Some don’t even consider it a medical illness and believe that some people simply react differently to certain chemicals. That being said, studies have shown that MCS is more common among those who have served in the Armed Forces. This idea, combined with the fact that wars expose military personnel to harmful substances, show evidence that MCS is indeed a tangible disease.
Some of the chemical that can trigger MCS include:
* Tobacco Smoke* Traffic exhaust* Fertilizers, Insecticides, and Pesticides* Paint & Paint Thinner* Nail Polish Remover* Chlorine (swimming pools)* Perfume* Newspaper Ink
The actual cause of MCS is unknown. Most physicians agree that the chemicals given off by the aforementioned products travel through the nasal passage and reach the limbic system in the brain, which controls emotions, voluntary behavior, and memory. Other theories suggest that chemicals damage the immune system in those suffering from MCS.
Multiple Chemical Sensitivity Syndrome is often associated with other disorders, some of which include Chronic Pain, multiple allergies, food intolerances, Sick-Building Syndrome, and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Treatment centers are available worldwide for those suffering from the symptoms that come with MCS. If you are a loved one suffers from any of these conditions, don’t hesitate to see a doctor or visit a treatment center.

chemical reaction Hydrogen peroxide + potassium permanganate
Hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate in a nice chemical reaction I only used low concentrated chemicals. If some one use high concentrated chemicals it would also work faster. But this is dangerous. I am careful with chemicals. This reaktion can by used in rockets and both chemicals are caustic. If the chemicals are too high concentrated it could by like an explosion. From the Journal of the National Cancer Institute.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10413421
“Among the multiple components of tobacco smoke, 20 carcinogens convincingly cause lung tumors in laboratory animals or humans and are, therefore, likely to be involved in lung cancer induction. Of these, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and the tobacco-specific nitrosamine 4-(methylnitrosamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-bu… are likely to play major roles. This review focuses on carcinogens in tobacco smoke as a means of simplifying and clarifying the relevant information that provides a mechanistic framework linking nicotine addiction with lung cancer through exposure to such compounds. Included is a discussion of the mechanisms by which tobacco smoke carcinogens interact with DNA and cause genetic changes–mechanisms that are reasonably well understood–and the less well defined relationship between exposure to specific tobacco smoke carcinogens and mutations in oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes.”
Also from http://jnci.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/short/91/14/1194
This article from the Univ. of Pennsylvania talks about “oxidative stress” caused by carcinogens in tobacco smoke.
http://living.oneindia.in/health/disorders-and-ailments/2008/tobacco-carcinogens-cause-lung-cancer-300508.html
If you missed the key points here -
Chemical interaction with DNA causing mutations is one mechanism
Mutations in oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes are other biochemical considerations. You might access entire articles for more detailed biochemical information.
