A client is diagnosed with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). He uses portable oxygen at home and when he leaves the house to go anywhere. He lives with his wife and their 25 year old son. The house is two stories and all of the bedrooms are on the second story. What interventions can you suggest to aid this client in returning to normal daily activities while still managing his COPD? Is this your homework? Geeze I hope you’re not going to be in charge of patients lives one day. Well judging from the fact that this is being asked on a yahoo forum, I can only assume you won’t be a doctor; you’re more likely a nurse or nurse’s aid perhaps. Anyway.
You won’t learn anything trying to get everyone else to do it for you.
Knowing about COPD is important as it seriously effects a lot of people.
Think about what you might change if you couldn’t breath when you moved and as a result had to carry a tank around with you everywhere you went. Would you want to have to walk up stairs to go to bed?
Think about the logistics of portable oxygen. How much oxygen does he need per day? How much oxygen does a portable tank hold.
Use your head darling, this isn’t rocket science.
