Question by Thomas F: Is Congress really going to shutdown government over Planned Parenthood?
Everything now has been figured out except 400 million in funding for Planned Parenthood. Services provided at locations include contraceptives (birth control); emergency contraception; screening for breast, cervical and testicular cancers; pregnancy testing and pregnancy options counseling; testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases; comprehensive sexuality education, menopause treatments; vasectomies, tubal ligations.
In fact PPH does not even provide abortion but services to avoid abortions and in only very extreme cases helps those with abortion services. Only 3% of their budget goes to abortion services. It is estimated that the program saves 650,000 unwanted births a year and 200,000 abortions. Our Military families won’t get paid and won’t have health coverage if this shutdown happens and are being told they won’t be reimbursed even after a shutdown would be over. Congress needs to pull their head out of their you know what.
Regardless if there are still other issues this program should not hold up our budget process and leave our military families without pay and health coverage and ready to strike if the shutdown happens. I have friends in the military and today their check were cut in half in anticipation of the shutdown and are being told they won’t be reimbursed.
Jonathan- The money spent on abortions is 30 million total and that goes to help determine whether an abortion is the right thing for the women and to educate them . Planned parenthood does not perform abortions
PPH keeps us from spending billions later on in social programs from kids who are unwanted, who then become teenage criminals, who then become low life adults in society, and drain our social services.

Oh, so you saw Harry Reid’s speech and you believed him.

A couple of weeks ago Reid was complaining that the budget cuts were going to eliminate federal support for the Cowboy Poetry Gathering held in Nevada each year.

Reid has gone nuts.

Dr. Herbst on Screening Studies at the Upcoming Lung Cancer Congress

Roy S. Herbst, MD, PhD, Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center, thoracic oncology program, and co-chair of the 12th International Lung Cancer Congress, discusses the screening topics that will be discussed at the congress taking place at the Park Hyatt Aviara in Carlsbad, CA, August 11-14, 2011. Herbst explains there are still as many questions as there are answers. He believes the next step for the academic community is to use molecular epidemiology to identify patients at the most risk, treating patients with small nodules detected, and the minimally invasive techniques and treatment of early lesions to prevent metastatic cancer.

Carbon Nanotubes are basically graphite molecule rolled into tubes at molecular level. Like diamond molecules, this form of carbon becomes very strong. The potential application is endless.
