He is currently taking Sutent.
I would like to know what to expect. Is he going to be cured? Is he going to die? How long does he have? How likely is this to spread to the brain? The liver? His bones?
His oncologist has been very evasive and my husband does not want to know.

You don’t want answers to this question from random people out on the internet. Not at all. Demand answers from the oncologist. This is your husband’s life at stake. If he doesn’t have all of the answers, press for likely scenarios and options. Don’t give up and don’t give in until you are satisfied. Doctors are not God, and they are working for your husband. Even if your husband doesn’t want to know, he needs an advocate to get through this, and it is you. Best of luck.

First of all, congratulations on your compliance to the entire treatment.
Fibrosis is the sequel of pulmonary TB and does not indicate active TB. (It actually indicates a healed patch.)
You should try to get a fitness certificate from a physician (preferably one who specializes in chest medicine or treating TB) in a country where you are located stating that you no longer have any active form of PTB and are completely cured of the past infection & are physically fit to do the job you do.
To answer your question, there is no maintenance therapy for TB. Just maintain good diet and take proper precautions (whenever possible) in avoiding direct contact with a known contagious case.

With all of new technology, stem cells, medications and new genetic manipulations…how long do you give it.
I figure that most cancers will be curable within 10-15 years
I think the gene therapy and being able to change the DNA of cancer cells is going to be the big breakthrough.
Now we can isolate them, we can begin to “reprogam them” or send genetically altered virii into them to seek out and destroy only them or reprogram them that way.
I just wish the USA allowed stem cell research

i hate to break it to you, but the chances are grim. i can’t find any specific figures from my pathology book, but stage three is relatively advanced. the average case of lung cancer has a 15% chance of surviving five years. stage three would have less of a chance.

My fiance’ had Cancer in her early teen years. She was a Freshman when told she had Leukemia. She fought through it and by her Junior year, it had cleared… she had a very serious case of it. Now, after blood work and what not… she found out she is completely clean. I was told you could never be 100% clean after having it… so is this true or false on her word? She is sometimes to embarrassed to talk to me in detail about it. Well, I was wondering… even though she fought through it, and is okay, and has been for about 8 years now… because she had it, will it shorten her life-span? Meaning, do most Cancer / Leukemia survivors usually die before that of someone who never had it? If so… whats the usual life-span for one who has been previously diagnosed?

I’m not entirely sure. I had a friend who was diagnosed with leukemia in 6th grade. We’re both 20 years old now and as far as I know she’s doing great. Aside from some joint problems she’s basically normal. There’s always the risk of the cancer coming back, and she may have a slightly weakened immune system but if she’s otherwise healthy I would take her word for it. Working in a pharmacy I’ve seen people who were diagnosed with cancer at a young age die at a nice old age and their deaths weren’t related to the cancer at all.

so we found out my grandpa has lymphoma. I have a few question about it since i only know a little about this disease. I know its a disease where water fills your lungs or something right? is it deadly. i know any type of cancer is but idk i just want to know. is it spreadable from person to person? cause my mother told me not to go near him. I saw my brother drink after him today. also is it curable for good without it coming back. my grandpa is 65. He is allergic to every kind of medication. He has had the symptoms for a while. At least that’s what i heard. i don’t think he knew it was lymphoma until we called the ambulance for him. he thought it was a cough or cold. so did they catch it to late? they gave him an antibiotic but he is allergic to it.
srry she didn’t say stay away from he like he is deadly. she just meant not to drink form the same cup. she told that to me so far since my sis and little brother are sleeping. should she warn everyone
also are there any home redies that help.
he also smokes. were trying to get him to quit but he won’t. he has been smoking for aa very long time

Lymphoma is a cancer in the lymph system. It has nothing to do with the lungs. The lymph system provides white blood cells that fight off infection. The lymph system stops working when a person has lymphoma, so they have little immunity and they are susceptible to infections. You can be a threat to him be he is not a threat to anyone else.
Lymphoma is treatable with chemotherapy or radiation. There’s several types. Some have have a better outlook than others, but in general this type of cancer is curable in the majority of people.
