breathing sounds like claustrophobia… and it sounds like you have depression and your depression has now been overwhelming your body. You really need to tell a doctor about these problems and go see a therapist. If not please at least tell your parents.

Q&A: I know this is a lot to ask, but can someone please edit my essay about eating disorders? (10 points)?
Question by Iheartart: I know this is a lot to ask, but can someone please edit my essay about eating disorders? (10 points)?
Please give your opinions and incites on what you think, what I should improve on to make it better, and correct any misspellings. Thanks a lot! Only constructive critism please! Here is my essay:
Sometimes, you can’t just be happy with who you are. You feel depressed but you want to keep your feelings all in. Having low self-esteem, depression, or stress can lead to an eating disorder. An eating disorder is an illness that causes a person to develop unhealthy eating habits. The three types of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating. Having an eating disorder can affect your relationship with other, cause you to think many negative thoughts about yourself and your body, and damage your health. If you suspect that someone has an eating disorder, it is important that you show support for that person so they can have a healthy attitude and body. As you grow older, you begin to feel more conscious of your body. You go through physical changes, as well as “social pressures.” One or two out of one hundred kids, particularly girls, that struggle with this disorder can successfully hide their extreme weight loss from their parents for months or years. Anorexia can come from psychological, genetic, social, and family factors. Many girls are exposed to images of thin models that have the “ideal” body size. Participating in activities such as gymnastics, where thinness is emphasized can also lead to anorexia. Since parents are role models fortheir children, a parent’s body image, their lifestyle, and their dieting Once someone is obsessed with dieting, exercise, and taking laxatives, they will still see themselves as overweight even if they can see their bones.
Anorexics usually portion their food carefully or come up with excuses to skip their meals. Without receiving the nutrients the body needs to keep your bones strong, and help the body maintain homeostasis, the lack of nutrients will affect the body in many ways:
bulleted-(in women) losing at least three consecutive menstrual periods;not wanting or refusing to eat in public;anxiety; weakness;brittle teeth; shortness of breath;obsessiveness about calorie intake;severe malnutrition;a drop in pulse and breathing rate;kidney failure;hair loss and fingernail breakage;lanugo hair;lightheadedness and inability to concentrate;anemia;swollen joints;dry and yellow skin; higher levels of cortisol and vasopressin
death
Being anorexic can also result in an irregular heartbeat, permanent failure of normal growth, and osteoporosis, a condition in which the bones become weak and can breakeasily. You may feel cold most of the time because your body temperature decreases.Taking laxatives can wear out the bowel muscles, causing it to decrease in function. Sometimes, it’s hard for parents to tell the difference between their child to be “self-image” concerns and “warning signs” to anorexia. Someone that is self conscious and on a strict diet may not necessarily be anorexic. There are “glaring” abnormal behaviors and physical signs.
Someone who is anorexic may:
become very thin, frail, or emaciated;be obsessed with eating food and weight control;weigh herself or himself repeatedly;count or portion their food carefully;only eat certain foods, such as diary and wheat;exercise excessively;feel fat even if their body is literally only showing a sheet of skin and bones;withdraw from social activities, especially meals or celebrations involving food;be depressed, lack energy, and often feel cold
If you suspect that your child or someone you know is anorexic, it is important to give as much support to them as you can, and try to help them admit that they have an eating disorder. Some people may feel depression, anger, or denial when faced to admit that they are anorexic. Try to show your concern and approach the person in a loving and supportive way. Use “I” instead of “you.” If the person is still in denial, try to be patient, saying that you’ll be there whenever they are ready to talk about it. Get help from a doctor, nutritionist, and a therapist. Encourage a healthy outlook on nutrition, exercise, and their appearance to help them raise their self esteem. For parents, it’s critical to make exercise a regular family activity and have their child help prepare nutritional meals for the whole family.
Bulimia is another type of eating diorder that involves dieting. A person with bulimia is tempted to eat “comfort foods”, such as ice cream or cake. After their out-of-control eating, the person will feel ashamed and guilty for what they have done. They will try inappropriate methods of weight control, such as vomiting and fasting. Bulimics will show excessive shape and weight concern, yet still consume quantities of food up to 20,000 calories a day. This all begins with dissatisfaction of the bodt.
Like anorexia, bulimia also involves being exposed to pictures of thin models and then not being able to feel good about themselves. Fami

just a few tips…
try not to use contractions
when you say “anorexics” you are isolating them from the everyone else it would be better to say people with anorexia or something like that
“Being anorexic can also result in an irregular heartbeat, permanent failure of normal growth, and osteoporosis, a condition in which the bones become weak and can breakeasily.” you use a lot of comas here. take out the one between “osteoporosis and a” and replace it with “which is” then take out “in which” and replace it with “that causes” then take out the “can” before “break”
try to read through it yourself and see if there are any other places where comas can be taken out. otherwise it looked superb

Why do I have so many mental disorders?
Question by RFP: Why do I have so many mental disorders?
I am currently being treated for mood and personality disorders i’ve had my entire life. I am currently 24 yrs old and went to the psychiatrist for the first time because my life was beginning to fall apart at the seams. I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder as well as ADHD. I also have trouble sleeping and my psychiatrist also gave me ambien and rozerem to take if i have trouble sleeping. I spend entirely sleepless night sometimes because i dont want to take sleeping pills all the time. Although both medications are helping I still have an extremely high stress level, partly due to my life situations, and partly due to my natural tendencies to headaches and stomach problems. My psychiatrist diagnosed me with a low dose of paxil but I don’t want to take ANOTHER med! Is anyone else taking this many medications? I mean unfortunately, I know I need them, but I still have my quandries being a person who hasn’t taken meds for any of this.
I also wonder why so many disorders? I mean i know it might be hereditary, but I happen to think it has something to do with a neurological damage i suffered at birth. I was born 3 weeks overdue and by this time the meconium fluid had built up so much that i was breathing it in. My mother had an emergency c section, lost a lot of blood, and has an ugly scar because of me. My father, who is a doctor, had to such out the fluid and give me cr to revive me because my heart had stopped beating. I wonder if in t between this time I may have suffered some sort of neurological damage. I also have a rare problem with my eyesite that causes double vision horizontally and vertically (prisms correct this).
if anyone has anything similar going on or is knowledgeable on the subject, i’d appreciate your answers.
prescribed me a low dose of paxil*

The best thing to do is to get a second opinion. The psych that you’re going to now might be making money off you. You could merely be a hypochondriac, which means that you keep thinking that you have mental illnesses that you’ve heard of.

Q&A: Experiences with sleeping disorders?
Question by The Southern Oracle: Experiences with sleeping disorders?
I am looking for some info on various kinds of sleeping disorders.
Sure I can Google it, but I would like to find someone who has been through something similar so I can get your story on how you dealt/deal with it.
My husband is 29 years old, and I believe he has some kind of sleeping disorder.
He has a well balanced diet, gets moderate exercise, not overweight, and is generally in very good health.
He is on a few medications, but is well adjusted to them and the sleep problem is present whether he’s on anything or not.
No street drugs, takes daily vitamins…
So what happens is he will sleep all day if I let him. He does not hear his alarm clocks (there are FOUR). If I manage to wake him up he will fall right back to sleep even if he is sitting up. He complains that he is tired no matter how much sleep he’s had. I know his dreams are very detailed and vivid from what he tells me. He twitches (muscle twitches) constantly in his sleep, talks quite often and sometimes acts things out, but never actually leaves the bed. He rarely snores or has any kind of breathing problems that would indicate it’s any kind of apnea. I don’t believe it to be environmental (I live in the same house, am 5 years older, never sleep more than 6 hrs a day and I could run marathons).
Had some blood tests a few weeks ago, and among these his thyroid was checked.
Everything keeps coming back normal.
Anyone ever dealt with something similar? I’d like to hear what it was, if you were able to fix it, etc.
No sarcasm or personal insults – I feel no remorse in reporting mean people.
Thanks

Answer by Topper (Linda)
Muscle twitching.. I had that when I was ‘bad’ hyper and going into storm (thyroid)…. the exhaustion and the vivid dreams.. that all fits too. Though I didn’t seem so narcoleptic. each body does respond differently.
Personally I’d want to look closer at the thyroid labs, make sure they did the correct tests and that they were properly interpreted.
Should have had TSH and thyroid antibodies (any family history of thyroid disorder?) checked. If TSH was at either end of the range than thyroid hormones should be tested too, both Free T4 and Free T3.
Quick home screening…. take a look at his thumbnails, or yours. See that half moon shaped lighter area at the base of the nail?? If the ‘moons’ are missing on the fingernails.. that’s indicative of a thyroid disorder.
…. might not hurt to check out adrenal function…… that’s a saliva test, taking four samples over 24 hours, to determine if the adrenals are working properly.
Does he happen to do a lot of soy?
Any history of exposure to chemicals?
I dealt with insomnia during my hyper years.. and after getting my gland destroyed (thanks to doctor negligence) I ended up dealing with insufficient sleep due to adrenal issues… whole long story… but as I said, body response varies from individual to individual and I have seen a LOT of cases over the years of docs failing to run the proper labs to determine thyroid disorder and even more that have no clue how to interpret the labs.

Well, when I was a kid my parents beat me a bit too much I’d say. (Especially my Father.)
But if you ask me, what hurts me the most is the mental damage done by being yelled at by my Mom.
I always have nightmares of her yelling and screaming at me to this day.

(Edit) :: What helps me feel better? Doing anything that can release steam, punching something, screaming in my head, or sometimes just laughing at a good joke, and taking my mind off of serious thoughts.

That’s a common side-effect. Sometimes fear of a panic attack causes the attack. I’ve even blacked out before during a panic attack. I thought I was dieing. It was as if all of the life was sucked out of me, then it all came back, suddenly.

Dizzyness common with anxiety disorders?
Question by Healthy Guy: Dizzyness common with anxiety disorders?
I have GAD, and i have been doing really well as of late in controling my anxiety….im NOT on medication, but do take Klonopin if i need it….i take 1mg about ever 2 weeks if i feel i need somthing to relax. ANYWAYS- for the last week i have had no symptoms of anxiety disorder, BUT tonight i am…right now….
i was sitting here surfing the net then i felt funny in my head, i stood up and walked from one end of my hose to the other and i was unstable, but badly but basically a little dizzy, then my heart started racing FAST….i guess i had a little bit of a panic attack in there, but with controled breathing i made short work of this…
so my question is, is dizzyness like that common with theGeneral Anxiety Disorder /Panic Attack?
p.s. if you have suffered panic attacks, its like you can have different symptoms every time it happens…it sucks…thanks.
p.s. the dizzyness lasted around 2 minutes and was mild….DEFINITLY not the worst i have had…

Answer by Elizzabeth
Yes I to have anxiety attacks. One of the very first symptoms I ever had was dizzyness. And my head felt “weird”. (I don’t know any other way to describe it, just weird).
It may be different from person to person. When I get the dizzyness, it is only for a second or mabe a few seconds. Sometimes my heart feels like it is racing. That one I think is a pretty common symptom. Deep breathing and self talks help me. I have found that the more I exercise, the better I do.
*****
Other symptoms I have are (and you may have too) are numbing of the fingers, hands, and arms. (not all at once)
*****
As for your question, I think symptoms can vary everytime it happens. Just my opinion.

what do people think about this poem about eating disorders?
Question by eyepublishing: what do people think about this poem about eating disorders?
I once knew a girl who was so thin her photos looked like x-rays,
So insecure in her own body she’d try and make it disappear
And late at night after a drive-thru dinner
I’d hear her weeping out the window
Breathing deeply into a brown paper bag
In, out, in, out
Whatever creates stability she’d laugh
She’d show me her wrists sometimes
Trophies that she was in fact the victim
Proof that this problem was the driver
And that her seatbelt was fastened way too tightly to allow proper circulation, motivation, and composition
Of a situation that she saw no way out of other than to write epitaphs
On every single napkin she ever needed to use
A wastebasket filled with goodbyes, stained with ketchup
And at night now I wonder if she’s vanished
Into thin air
Like a magic trick I saw when I was younger

Cure Anxiety disorders With Selfhelp Measures
Cure Anxiety disorders With Selfhelp Measures
Article by Hollis Sprecher
It’s always difficult consider that the first is capable of curing panic and anxiety attack with exercise, or Yoga, as well as other self help measures. Learning brain translates a predicament, triggering cortisol production can certainly help one inch understanding, anxiety. Any alarming situation is responded with fight or flight, from a person. This fact is generated by Amygdala, this organ pair makes note of emotional reactions to specific objects or situations, which you’ll find again repeated when looking at it. To be brief, we train our brain to induce anxiety weight training are anxious of an certain situation historically. Reversing this training procedure is key for stopping panic disorder.
One other way to cure panic disorder is exercise, that may be much easier to indulge into. Every time a person diverts her / his energies into workouts, they are really giving a work seem to brain, to boot. Exercise is really a person sweat and breath harder. To have pace with demand for oxygen by muscles which can be being used, breathing becomes faster, so that more oxygen is supplied. This is done subconsciously by mind and hence, people are diverted from trained response stored by Amygdala. Such type of route to cure anxiety and panic attacks, is best suited for anytime an individual is not experiencing severe form of anxiety.
Practicing Yoga to cure anxiety and panic attack is an effective proposition. Yoga poses are aimed to remain one’s body-mind relaxed. Yoga techniques are super easy to follow when a person is training with a registered Yoga instructor. Meditation is mode of brain exercise. One has to shut all thoughts that will at their mind, just like emptying a bowl. Keeping in this state extremely for amateurs, but those who are accomplished at blocking thoughts believe that it is to be a powerful exercise that cures panic attacks or averts it.
Online selfhelp guides or e-books to stop panic disorder may, or definitely isn’t effective. People who completely trust these programs find courage to handle an anxious situation. This can be so because, they train their brain the measure will certainly get them due to anxiety and so it does. It makes sense positive, since a person ever done it to coach their brain positively. Then again, people that try every measure with halfhearted trust, won’t get such results. One ought to recognise that your brain alone can stall an oncoming panic or anxiety attack. Sadly, individuals are manufactured to realize its a treatment program that cures anxiety and panic attack.
For stopping anxiety, selfhelp measures alone aren’t the path out always. When anxiety couples with depression at a person, these measures is probably not fruitful. It’s so because, you might have developed suicidal tendencies or concern with an issue sometimes have conquered your skin, which ends up in reduction in interest, in facing it, or coping with it. They will often desire to turn tail and run originating from a panicky situation. When you’re experiencing such severe mode of panic disorder, utilised together seek out professional guidance. This is the best practice to cure panic and anxiety attacks, or get gone them for years.

Workers Describe Job-related Cumulative Trauma Disorders 1990
The workers in this video suffer from cumulative trauma disorders caused by or made worse by conditions on their jobs. They give voice to the tragic effects of these disorders on workers lives. They are examples of the nearly 1 million people in the US each year report taking time away from work to treat and recover from musculoskeletal pain or loss of function due to overexertion or repetitive motion either in the low back or upper extremities. These include both musculoskeletal disorders to which the work environment and the performance of work contribute significantly or musculoskeletal disorders that are made worse or longer lasting by work conditions. These workplace risk factors, along with personal characteristics (eg, physical limitations or existing health problems) and societal factors, are thought to contribute to the development of work-related musculoskeletal disorders. They also reduce worker productivity or cause worker dissatisfaction. Common examples are jobs requiring repetitive, forceful, or prolonged exertions of the hands; frequent or heavy lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying of heavy objects; and prolonged awkward postures. Vibration and cold may add risk to these work conditions. Jobs or working conditions presenting multiple risk factors will have a higher probability of causing a musculoskeletal problem. The level of risk depends on the intensity, frequency, and duration of the exposure to these conditions and the individual s capacity to meet …

Autoimmune Disorders And Diseases And How They Are Treated
Autoimmune Disorders And Diseases And How They Are Treated
Article by Blake K. Pitts
Prednisone is used to suppress our immune system. It is found in four different doses: Prednisone 5 mg, Prednisone 10mg, Prednisone 20 mg and Prednisone 40 mg. It is used in treatments of wide arrays of conditions such as psoriasis, allergic disorders, skin conditions, breathing disorders, arthritis, lupus, and others. Except for treating inflammatory diseases, the same medication is prescribed to persons affected by cancer or to persons that have undergone organ transplantation, usually together with other drugs. While the Prednisone 20mg and 5 mg are the most recommended tablets, intravenous and intramuscular injections are available as well. Prednisone is actually a pro-medicine that is processed by the liver and converted into prednisolone, which is the main active substance.
Although for most of the inflammatory diseases the typical dosages are Prednisone 20mg and 5 mg, the actual appropriate dose varies not only from one condition to another, but might depend on the overall health and bodily weight as well. If you have been prescribed this medication as either long-term or short-term treatment, you should take the pills exactly as directed and should not change the dosage on your own. The generic Prednisone 5mg and 20 mg are easily available on the Net and could be at times purchased without prescription, which is a great way to save a lot of money, but they still should be used responsibly and only after they have been recommended by a qualified doctor.
Because Prednisone is a very strong drug, it can cause a lot of unwanted side effects and in the vast majority of the instances they would be experienced only after long-term course as the short-term treatments typically do not cause unwanted reactions. If you are taking either Prednisone 20mg or Prednisone 5mg and suffering from any of the side effects, you should inform your physician as soon as possible. Another important point to remember is to never abruptly discontinue the treatment since if Prednisone is taken for longer than seven days, it can cause dependency and gradually reducing the dose is the only way to prevent it.
The generic forms of this drug are almost always more affordable than the brand name pills that you can order from the local pharmacists, which has encouraged many men and women to buy these medications online. Your safety should be your number one priority and you should shop only from trusted and reputable Web drugstores that stock only high quality and genuine drugs. In case of any doubt you should always ask your physician and follow his recommendations. On the other part, the genuine generic drugs carry the same ingredients and therefore act in exactly the same way as their costlier brand name analogs. They can also be found in various different packages and if you decide to order Prednisone 20mg or Prednisone 5 mg that you need for long-term treatment off the Web, you can purchase the larger packages which would even further decrease the price per pill.
In order for the treatment to succeed you should be properly diagnosed by a doctor, follow his directions and never share your tablets with others, even if you think they suffer from the same medical condition.

Sleep Disorders and Insomnia in Women – What Causes Them and Natural Insomnia Treatments
Sleep Disorders and Insomnia in Women – What Causes Them and Natural Insomnia Treatments
Article by Dee Braun
Did you realize that women are twice as likely as men to have sleep disorders? Women are known to have frequent sleep problems during their reproductive years.
There are numerous factors which can influence a woman’s ability to have normal sleep patterns. These can include hormone levels, stress levels, lifestyle, sleep environment and menstrual and pregnancy related issues. It’s quite common for women to experience premenstrual sleep disturbances during which they have difficulty falling asleep, may awake during the night, or have difficulty waking up. They may experience daytime sleepiness or suffer from insomnia, which is sleeplessness, and is one of the more common symptoms associated with premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
Many women acquire unhealthy sleep patterns due to the demanding roles they face as mothers, wives and career women. Women tend to choose to ignore fatigue and work long hours, both of which cut into their sleep time. On top if these, women also frequently have their sleep interrupted by their responsibilities as mom.
Women older than 40 years of age report more sleep disturbances than do women in their 20s or 30s. Lack of sleep in perimenopausal women can contribute to decreased job performance, decreased ability to concentrate, a decline in social interaction and a lack of general well-being.
Pregnancy can also be a major factor in sleep disturbance. The sheer demands of pregnancy on the body can make a woman feel sleepy during the day and yet inhibit sleep at night – especially in the first trimester. The pregnant woman may receive better sleep in the second trimester, only to face sleep issues again in the third trimester due to the size of her abdomen and the aches and pains of pregnancy.
Lack of sleep, or poor quality of sleep during pregnancy are often attributed to frequent urination, heartburn, discomfort from bodily changes, fetal movement, low back pain, leg cramps, vivid nightmares, sleep apnea and snoring which can occur or worsen during pregnancy.
As women age other sleep disturbances tend plague them due to menopause. The causes of sleep problems during this time of a woman’s life can often be blamed on hot flashes and night sweats which wake them up or make it difficult to fall asleep.
The most common sleep complaint that women report is insomnia. Women have many reasons for having insomnia (sleeplessness) including physical pain, anxiety or worry, medical conditions that disrupt their sleep, and breathing disorders.
Statistics also show that sleep apnea increases in women who are over the age of 50. As women age they are far more likely to have restless legs syndrome, periodic limb movement disorder or even narcolepsy.
There are some natural ways to combat insomnia such as herbal teas, herbal baths and aromatherapy. Here are a few you can try to help you get a good night’s sleep:
Sleep Easy Bath
* 2 drops Ylang-Ylang essential oil
* 3 drops Lavender essential oil
Add to tub full of warm water and mix well.
This is a soothing, relaxing blend that helps ease away a day’s stresses and strains.
Insomnia Aromatherapy Blend
Ingredients:
10 drops Roman Chamomile
5 drops Clary Sage
5 drops Bergamot
Directions:
Blend the oils well in a clean dark-colored glass bottle. Add 1-2 drops to a tissue and place inside your pillow to aid you in falling asleep.
If you prefer to make a Diffuser blend that you enjoy during the hour before bedtime, make a blend with a ratio of 2 drops Roman Chamomile to 1 drop Clary Sage to 1 drop Bergamot and add to your Diffuser.
Lavender can also help provide relaxation and drowsiness, but using more than 1-2 drops can have the opposite effect.
Sleepless Night Tea
* 1 part Chamomile flowers
* 1 part Catnip herb
* 1 part Lemon Balm herb
* 1 part Passion Flower
