Q&A: Why doesn’t God cure cancer?
Question by MthrNatures_Son: Why doesn’t God cure cancer?
If God is all powerful, why doesn’t he fix some things that should be simple for him. How about amputees, paraplegics, cancer patients, mental illness, etc. Some of these folks even believe in Him–why not help your people out.
Some folks out of desperation beg Him for mercy, yet he lets them suffer or die. Why?
Why do many good and kind non-believers go on to lead fruitful, healthful, happy lives with many riches while some people who dedicate their lives to Him are poor, sick, hungry, and helpless.

Q&A: What does it mean when an interviewer says that she doesn’t have any more questions for you…?
Question by brubbletrubble: What does it mean when an interviewer says that she doesn’t have any more questions for you…?
Aside from the obvious that she has no more questions to ask..I recently when on an interview for a large company (I had made it up to round 3 of an interview for a position in skin cancer, but wasnt chosen and was invited i interview for head and neck cancer since that is more suited towards my goals). I had told her that I had interviewed with the company prior and from my perspective, the interview went well..only it only lasted 25 mins (my other at this stage was 45 and i was asked intense questions for the same position/different dept). I was simply asked 2 how would you handle this situation ?s and a few regarding my past experience. Also, I wasn’t given a business card but told id hear back soon from herself or HR. What are my chances of getting a third interview? Did she cut the interview short bc she knew i was not the right candidate or because I obviously was fit/qualified for the position seeing that I had already met with others? Has this happened to anyone else and there been a positive outcome? Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated

Answer by bull_rooster_aardvark
I suspect that either she cut it short because she felt you were not right, or that is just her style – to only ask a few things and make a determination based on that (and maybe she was running short of time). This could be a bad thing or could just be neutral – but hey, you’ll know soon enough so don’t sweat it.

Is it possible if anyone doesn’t have Blood Pressure?
Question by Still Alive: Is it possible if anyone doesn’t have Blood Pressure?
My mother is 45 years old. She diagnosed with Lung Cancer (None Small Cell Cancer) a month before. She is now under Chemotherapy treatment. When we took her to the Doctor yesterday, the Nurse tried to check her Blood Pressure but it was so strange that her Blood Pressure could not appear in Blood Pressure Monitor. My elder brother told to the Doctor, he then checked her pulse it was OK but he didn’t describe that why can’t her blood pressure appear on the monitor.
So can anyone explain it that how is it possible? Please give me some information.
Thanks,

Question by : i want to be intimate with someone with hpv but he doesnt want to?
basically, its all in the title. im in love with someone with hpv, he told me and said he wouldnt sleep with me because of this. i have lung cancer so my immune system is dead. thing is, i haven’t told him but my cancer is spreading to the lymph nodes. he’s worried about me developing cervical cancer when really in my head thats nothing compared to whats going on. im planning on telling him but not right now.
if im honest, i love this guy, im sexually frustrated and i just want to be intimate probably with the last man ill ever have. how do i get this across to him?
so we both get sexually frustrated, he doesnt want to spread it so i get it in the ear because he has HPV and i have to find someone else to make me satisfied and i lose the man i love? yeah, great advice but im not leaving it. he says he loves me, the ultimate reason why he doesnt want to make my health worse, thus i cant ignore this problem and just leave it.

Why doesn’t the U.S. have cigarette warning labels like most other countries?
Question by My Avatar Is Beautiful: Why doesn’t the U.S. have cigarette warning labels like most other countries?
They’ve done studies and the graphic images do have a better effect over fine print. It’s common sense. You wanna smoke something from a box that has a black lung on it, or one that has a couple words about cancer?
Do they not care, it’s insulting, check it out:

Q&A: Is this the signals my doctor of 20 years is giving me to say he doesn’t want to treat me, and why?
Question by Victoria F: Is this the signals my doctor of 20 years is giving me to say he doesn’t want to treat me, and why?
I’ve had this doctor for 21 years and he was always with me in all my medical crisis’, up until I told him I was BRCA positive and getting preventative hysterectomy and preventative Mastdectomy and that was November 2008. He is primary doctor, and been my doc for over 20 years. Now he refuses to give me my one medication for anxiety, doesn’t call me back, hasn’t billed me in one year since I told him, and told my Aunt and mother that I am “trouble” “have a big mouth” and other hints. When I call his office, his assistant gives excuses but I did get in to see him about 1 month ago and he said, “I made a big mistake in giving you a beta blocker for high blood pressure,” which hindered my lung and they had to cancel my surgery for boob removal. Then my pharmacy started questioning that one medication he has given me for 8 years, and when I told him, he started screaming at me, saying he will never prescribe it again, and that because of me he may lose his license. When we went to see him 1 month ago (my husband and I), he was cold to my hubby and barely examinined me. I had to get the med thru my Gynocologist who is now questioning me saying he can’t keep giving it to me because he will lose his license. So I am looking for new doctor, which is very hard. What can I do, and does this show my main doctor doesn’t want to treat me, and why not just tell me “I can’t treat you, get a new doctor” like a normal person… Why am I the addict now, why am i the bad girl? I don’t get this issue. I need the med. How else can I get it besides doctors! HELP!
“BRCA” is a term for a gene associated with breast/ovarian cancer in women who take this test and have the gene and therefore have to take preventative methods to not get that cancer.

I’ve been told that I already received the max dose of radiation, doesn’t that mean I can never have it again?
Question by ♥ Animal Luvr ♥: I’ve been told that I already received the max dose of radiation, doesn’t that mean I can never have it again?
I didn’t know there was a “max dose” until my treatment was complete. I received the max dose of radiation and it was concentrated in my pelvis for cervical cancer and nodes, but it also extended all the way up to my armpits because there were lymph nodes higher too and they were worried it had microscopically spread even higher, they were playing it safe they said by going higher than shown just to make sure nothing was missed. Now I am anxiously awaiting another PET scan in a week which will show if theres any activity, last scan showed a tiny speck on the cervix itself and if its still there I was told surgery is the only option. I asked why I couldn’t have radiation for just that spot and I was told that I can never have radiation again because I received the max dose, any more is toxic apparantly?
Can someone please explain this a little better?
I am worried, because now I am at increased risk for other cancers as well since I already had CC and I had radiation which increases risk. If I found cancer say, breast cancer, could I be treated with radiation for it? I am really worried that the over-compensation in the radiation may have cost me the chance to ever have radiation again if I need it. I am trying to remain calm about it but I think this is something that should have been discussed with me prior to giving me the max dose so I would understand the risks and benefits of getting the max dose and have some input on the decision making process.

Radiation is a very dangerous substance to humans. It corrupts us on the cellular level. Radiation therapy works because cancer cells are more susceptible to radiation. I think it was the right choice to use the maximum radiation in the beginning. That way you remove as much as the cancer as possible, but hopefully all of it.

Uncle has brain/llung cancer and the hospital he’s at doesn’t have radiation or chemo, they cant transfer him?
Question by Shawn M: Uncle has brain/llung cancer and the hospital he’s at doesn’t have radiation or chemo, they cant transfer him?
My uncle has been in the hospital for 5 days and is unconscious. He collapsed after a business trip and was admitted to the ER where after tests and scans, they diagnosed him with brain and lung cancer. He’s at stage 4 with little time left. Our family isn’t rich nor does my uncle have medical insurance so the hospitals at other cancer ready hospitals are wary of accepting him in. So at the moment, my uncle is dying in front of our eyes with no treatment. Our doctors and nurses took pity on our situation and told us a way to help our uncle. They told us to check out of the hospital, put him in the car and make a drive to the ER room of a cancer ready hospital. They said they have to accept him. Problem is, i’m afraid they’ll have to run tests on him all over again and waste time. Can I tell them that we checked him out thinking he was fine but all of sudden he fainted because of his brain/lung cancer? Im just wondering if it’ll work cause we love him dearly and he’s the only family member that is close to me, apart from mom, brother and grandma (my dad left us). Thanks!
Best answer:
Answer by melissa b
i’m very sorry about your situation. i wouldn’t lie to the other hospital though because that may have an affect on the care that they give him. they can’t not accept him as a patient so just try taking him there and see what happens. you could always go back to the first hospital.

Q&A: What kind of cancer of the buttocks is treated with chemotherapy that doesn’t cause hair to fall out?
Question by sufferinsuketash420: What kind of cancer of the buttocks is treated with chemotherapy that doesn’t cause hair to fall out?
I’m an actor and I’m playing the role of a young man with cancer of the “ass”. He says that the chemotherapy he is taking to treat the cancer doesn’t cause his hair to fall out? What is the scientific term for the cancer someone get on their ass?
Best answer:
Answer by Spreedog
A malignancy in this area would be a sarcoma – probably a rhabdomyosarcoma http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/001429.htm of the skeletal muscle in the buttocks such as the gluteus maximus muscle. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.audreysmassage.com/images/medical/GluteusMaximus.gif&imgrefurl=http://www.audreysmassage.com/featurepage/gluteal.html&h=211&w=250&sz=23&tbnid=Y-PjsEjwZ-muSM:&tbnh=94&tbnw=111&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dgluteus%2Bmaximus&usg=__77kVQFzXterlFY54rr2vcjJ94RM=&ei=2vlAS92cHIS1tgeKs7ht&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=5&ct=image&ved=0CBoQ9QEwBA
– that is of course unless it happened to be a skin cancer in that area.
Most chemotherapy regimens for rhabdomyosarcomas would cause hair loss.
Of course in theater there is the audience’s willing suspension of disbelief – you can change reality in a play. Sounds like a nutty script. Glad you don’t really have a malignancy of the as*.
- – -
Hmmmm. Maybe you mean an anal canal carcinoma like Farrah Fawcet. These are becoming more common with sexually transmitted HPV infections. The treatment for these is radiation plus an IV cis-platinum / 5FU combination chemotherapy regimen with or without mitomycin. This might not cause hair loss.
It sure would help us to know exactly which body part you are asking about.

Basal cell skin cancer doesn’t spread?
Question by C’est Comme Un Rêve: Basal cell skin cancer doesn’t spread?
If it does not spread, why is it dangerous?
Oh, and how fast does the typical (non-basal cell) skin cancer spread?
Best answer:
Answer by Jamie
Question 1, basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas CAN metastasize (spread), but rarely do, but if left untreated can be locally disfiguring. Squamous cell carcinomas are slightly more serious in terms of metastasis, but still not as concerning as melanoma. Basal cell carcinomas are extremely common.
Question 2, Melanoma and some other rare skin cancers (merkel cell carcinoma for one) have a much higher propensity to spread, but varies widely person to person, and depends upon size, location, and subtype of the primary tumor. “Melanoma in Situ”, for example, will never spread until it turns invasive. Metastasis usually goes to the lymph nodes first, which can be cured with some success, and then to distant organs, from which a cure just does not happen.

More cancer….more chemo. One doc wants to do surgery, the other doesn’t?
Question by Yvonne: More cancer….more chemo. One doc wants to do surgery, the other doesn’t?
My mom was just diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in her colon. It’s previously spread to the lungs, bones, new cancer in her other breast (same exact type of breast cancer 9 years after the first one), liver, and now her colon. They aren’t exactly sure how big the tumor is because it’s hard to gauge in the spot it’s in.
The doctor who did the colonoscopy suggested surgery but her regular oncologist said to try a different type of chemo drug first. Chemo and radiation has been “working” pretty well I guess for the past 5 years. It keeps spreading but the Herceptin is keeping her alive basically, since all the cancers are er+. She had her first reoccurance 5 years after the original cancer was found and has been on chemo 3 weeks on / 1 week off since 2005.
My mom’s attitude towards it is, “Hey, at long as it doesn’t reach my brain I’m good”. She’s always kept a positive attitude on the outside no matter what her tests results showed but I couldn’t imagine going to bed every night, wondering when and where it’s going to be next.
Anyways, do you think her oncologist making the right decision? We figure if they do open her up and remove the tumor, it will just cause the cancer to spread even more quickly. I see the other doctor’s POV wanting to remove it but I just don’t know.
Opinions?
Other than cancer, she is an otherwise healthy 56 year old woman. She still works full time and lives almost 300 miles away so what she tells us is all we know.

Can I break my lease if my landlord doesn’t keep my apartment up to code. I am very concerned b/c I am 35wks
Question by akptrsn: Can I break my lease if my landlord doesn’t keep my apartment up to code. I am very concerned b/c I am 35wks
I have told the landlord about this, but he hasn’t taken any action to get it fixed. I have a very large whole in the ceiling above my toilet. Chunks of plaster are falling all over my bathroom. This is the second time I’ve had this particular problem. The first time ( last year) it took about four months for him to get someone to fix it. I told him back in April that the plaster has fallen again causing an even bigger hole (can see the apartment above mine). He gave me the number of some repair guy that I set an appt with 3 weekends in row and he never showed. I left messages informing the the landlord and he never returned my calls. Well recently on July 2nd the city did their annual housing inspection. The landlord still has not fixed my ceiling. On top of that in June I found some type of green mold or fungus in my closet. He still hasn’t had it inspected or tried to do anything about it. I am 35 weeks pregnant and I am worried about asbestos and toxic mold.

My doctor doesn’t know what’s wrong with me (I’m freaking out. Please read everything)?
Question by : My doctor doesn’t know what’s wrong with me (I’m freaking out. Please read everything)?
For over 5 years, I have been having breathing problems. Three weeks ago I decided to go to the doctor’s because my condition hasn’t been getting better (although it hadn’t gotten worse). I am scared of doctors so it took a lot of courage on my part to go.
PLEASE READ EVERYTHING!
My symptoms include shortness of breath that can be accompanied by wheezing sometimes. I’ve gotten bad symptoms sometimes at night, and sometimes during the day. I am pretty sure it’s asthma because everyone I spoke to (including an actual doctor online) says that’s what it sounds like.
Over a period of days or weeks I could show some symptoms, while other times I am ok. Last thursday I couldn’t sleep because my breathing was so bad.
My doctor did a blood test, chest x-ray, and breathing test (spirometry that included taking a medication to see if it helps). She told me today that all came back normal and she doesn’t know what is wrong with me. She said “I see no evidence whatsoever of a serious lung disease, and I really don’t think it’s asthma.” I told her that many people said to me that they had a normal spirometry even with asthma and she said “If you had asthma, the spirometry would have showed something.”
She then told me to try breathing exercises for the next month because it may be anxiety related. I don’t feel anxious at all even with breathing problems. She said after that she might refer me to an ENT or respirologist.
What could be going on? I am so depressed that my tests apparently yielded no new information. What should I ask her to do?
Also, I am a 19 year old male. I never smoked (although my dad did in the past but usually kept us away from the smoke.
I’ve been having this for 5 years. She gave me a piece of paper with instructions on breathing exercises. It says that it helps prevent hyperventilation and calms nerves. I DO NOT hyperventilate and usually don’t get nervous. I am short of breath usually.

Question by amber g: My mom is severly suffering with lung problems…she doesn’t smoke and has always been healthy. I’m her ?
Youngest child at 23 and stay with her a lot. If I donate both lungs to her what are the requirements? Basically her lungs are slowly falling apart, and would do anything to help her.
Best answer:
Answer by Neil
Well, since organs aren’t like factory-car parts, you can’t just donate them willy-nilly.
And you wouldn’t have to kill yourself either, because you can’t live without lungs of course.
If you really want to help her, take her to a lung-specialist, he can asses if she is eligible for a transplant, or if there’s anything else that can be done.
