facts about tobacco: kills millions of people a year, extremely addictive, no benefits (except relaxation for 10 minutes), huge waste of money ($ 280 a month), causes lung cancer and heart disease.
facts about weed: nobody in the history of the world has died from it (unless we are involving car accidents, which people are also drunk when high), does not cause cancer, 10 bucks of it will last 3 days to a week depending on your usage, benefits are exponentially greater than tobacco. ALSO, most of u idiots think it causes brain damage, IT DOESNT. it confuses your short term memory while under the influence of it, but goes away after 4 hours.
being a smoker damages your pocket, and your health, and the health of your children (if u have any). people think stoners r stupid & lazy & good for nothing. most of my friends smoke weed and are getting A’s in AP physics, AP calculus, and AP spanish.

I have smoked for about a year and a half. I know everyone’s immune system is different, but have you ever heard of anyone getting lung cancer from smoking for only a year or a year and a half or 2 years? Is it common? I don’t smoke a pack a day, either. I may smoke about 4 or 5 at most. I quit recently.

you don’t have to smoke at all to get lung cancer. just being around someone else that smokes is enough. some people get it for no apparent reason. I don’t think anyone can answer this for you. just don’t smoke at all.

Smoking or over-consumption of alcohol can cause lung cancer, liver diseases, diabetes, gum disease or oral cancer. Both also lead to bad breath. If you smoke or drink or do both you should ideally stop as soon as you can.
If you are at all concerned about your health and also dont want to have stinky breath you must stop smoking and taking alcohol. If you are addicted to either or both, please seek help so that you can quit and regain your health.
There are a number of things you can do to quit smoking. Some people find that nicotine patches or nicotine gum helps stop smoking because it reduces the craving for nicotine. You may get these products either over the counter or via a medical prescription. It is always a good idea to take a doctors help and guidance for this.
You can see advertisements for gradual quit smoking programs and you can join one of those. Or there are many support groups and counselors who help people who genuinely want to quit smoking.
There is a great deal of free motivational material that is available via the Internet and that will bolster your will power to quit smoking. You can also find out what are the personal triggers you have which make you smoke and once you have identified them, it will make quitting easier.
If your problem lies with alcohol, then you can join a support group like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). If that does not appeal to you there are many other groups out there to help you quit drinking. If you do join a support group or take individual therapy, you will find that it helps you in all areas of your life as well, apart from ridding you of alcohol dependency.
There is no doubt that alcohol dependency has a negative impact on all areas of your life, your relationships, your work and your health, and it is better to get away from it.
You can get motivated to give up drinking by reading articles and books. Articles are extremely informative and you get them on the net as well, free of cost. A great deal of material is available either on the internet or even in public libraries.
Do not give up even if you find it troublesome to quit smoking or drinking. These are not just ordinary habits but can be as bad as addictions. You need help of people around you to do so, so dont feel shy to ask for help and support. You must have the right motivation and really want to rid yourself of these bad habits. You will find that everybody will support you in your endeavors. Dont forget you will also be giving bad breath the go by with your decision.
By chance, if you dont know where to seek treatment for smoking and drinking, check on the net. You will probably be able to find some good center near where you live. If you care enough about yourself, you should give up these bad habits. You will also find help and support on the Internet itself through support groups, chat forums, discussion, blogs and more. Remember this is not about bad breath alone.
To distract your mind from tobacco and alcohol, you should find some activities which take up some of your extra time. You can join some sports team, learn a musical instrument, and take up a hobby. You dont have to be stuck going to a smoky bar or meeting people who love drinks. Even the people you meet through you support groups will help you and perhaps become lifelong friends.

There are different strains of HIV and they behave differently. There is 2 types, HIV 1, and HIV 2. Under these 2 types, theres subtypes. For instance, in USA, the most common HIV is called HIV-1 Subtype-B. In Thailand the most common type is HIV-1 Subtype-E. Now tests didnt always detect the different subtypes, and some tests dont detect HIV 2 still. The subtypes behave differently too and infect people differently. HIV causes AIDS, and thats when your immune system breaks down and other diseases come on. Do you think its possible that everybody, or at least all the people who die from cancer and other diseases may have some form of HIV that is not being detected. A strain that has never been identified? I mean what if that is the reason why some people get cancers and others dont. Not because its hereditary, or because of the sun, or asbestos. But because the immune system in those people is lower because they have some form of HIV or AIDS that isnt showing up on tests.
Why couldnt this be a possibility?
Bumblebee, only 60% of people with HIV 1 get the flu like illness. HIV 2 doesnt get it. Different people behave differently, and so do different types of HIV. What if the undetected type behaves differently. If its undetected on tests, then the flu like illness would just be considered the common flu if the person got it. You said if someones immune system gets low, they would test positive. But I already said that there are many tests that dont test for HIV 2, they cant detect it. The common test in USA doesnt detect HIV 2. So what if theres an HIV 3 or one we dont know about that cant be detected by any tests? It took them 15 years to develop a test for all HIV 1 subtypes.

It doesnt answer anything if the tests cant detect it. The point of this question is, DO YOU THINK THERES AN HIV SUBTYPE THAT TESTS CAN NOT DETECT
Padme, is it really so far fetched? It takes 3 to 6 months for subtype-b to show up on a test. It can take even longer for subtype-e. So the 2 strains behave differently. If subtype-e takes a little longer to show up on a test, who’s to say there isnt another subtype that takes even longer than that to show up? such as 60 years to show up, or not show up at all
KellyRM, thats incorrect. I have met people who were born with HIV in Thailand when I worked with them. Theres many people who are born with HIV.
Google the phrase: Born with HIV and see what you find.
You dont see it too often in USA because subtype-b affects mostly gays, who dont end up having children. It much more common in Africa and Thailand since more heterosexuals have HIV over there.
Dead Last, you know what you are talking about. But not all tests check for both Hiv 1 and 2. It says on the avert.org site

But yes, you are right about another subtype now being found in Cameroon. That is what made me start thinking about subtypes that we dont know about, and ones which may not show up on standard tests. The new subtype is different and they said it adapted to human cells somehow.
I think your average person who gets cancer, or one of the diseases that presents with AIDS, would not get an in depth test for HIV. If the subtype behaves differently than the HIV we usually see, then theres no signs that would cause a doctor to think its HIV so they wouldnt even look into it as a possibility, and they wouldnt order futher testing for rarer strains.
Dead Last, Subtype E behaves differently than Subtype B, so they are not exactly like their type.

No, I don’t think that’s possible. Any kind of HIV would cause you to become sick. The 1st signs of HIV are ‘flu like’. I think if someone’s immune system got really low they would test for HIV. Even though it’s not been identified yet that doesn’t mean they wouldn’t find it.
I also think that there are ALOT of tests and it’s REALLY hard for things to go undetected.
