examples of organisations acting socially irresponsibly?
Question by : examples of organisations acting socially irresponsibly?
I need at least two examples of companies that have not acted in an ethical or socially responsible manner. Something like the James Hardie company and the asbestos problem. A bit of info on what happened would also be appreciated.

Let’s see, there’s ACORN and the voter fraud, there’s Enron and the energy scandal, there’s Fannie May and Freddy Mac, who engineered the housing crisis with well-intentioned but utterly damaging fiscal policies, and if you want to count the politicians who controlled FM&FM and pushed them into the most unsustainable loan policy ever enacted (and now try to fix it with bailout after bailout), I wouldn’t complain a bit.

Dr. Mills Gives Examples of Unexpected Therapy Responses
Gordon B. Mills, MD, PhD, chairman, Department of Systems Biology, chief, Section of Molecular Therapeutics, Professor of Medicine and Immunology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, discusses examples of recent and unexpected responses to medications in diseases that did not have a treatment. 1. Crizotinib (Xalkori), a recently FDA approved drug that targets the EML4-ALK translocation in non-small cell lung cancer, has shown remarkable responses including a disease control rate of 74% and a demonstrated 50% and 61% median objective response rate. 2. Rapamycin analogs have demonstrated endometrial benefits in over 50% of patients. 3. BRAF targeted therapies, such as Vemurafenib (Zelboraf), which is approved for BRAFV600E-positive unresectable or metastatic melanoma, have demonstrated remarkable progress, including a 74% reduction in disease progression. In order to drive this type of therapy to the next level the first step will be to construct combinatory therapies. The field will begin to evolve from a short-term response that benefits a lot of patients, to a long-term durable response, and finally a cure.

These are usually caused from smoking, 2nd hand smoking, genetics or exposure to certain chemicals. Prevention is not smoking, staying away from people who smoke and wearing a mask around dangerous chemicals. Treatment may or may not include the following…. nebulizers which are usually rescue meds and preventative meds, O2, and sometimes diet. Examples of Medical Malpractice Lawsuits – Info on Negligence Claims
Examples of Medical Malpractice Lawsuits – Info on Negligence Claims
Article by Daniel Beasley
Of all the civil suits filed in state courts, medical malpractice cases are among the most common. This is because many people undergo complex procedures that are sometimes not properly performed. Most people are surprised at the volume of these suits because they have a limited understanding of what constitutes medical malpractice. The following is a list of the common examples of medical malpractice lawsuits.
Missed diagnosis or an incorrect diagnosis: physicians are required to make accurate determinations on a person’s condition. When a diagnosis is wrong or missed, this can be the basis for a malpractice suit.
Botched procedures: Any improperly performed procedure that results in harm to the patient can be considered malpractice. This can be true even when the outcome was completely accidental and care was taken to avoid negligence.
Unnecessary procedures: Performing a procedure solely to increase payment is among the most egregious malpractice case. While rare, this particular form of malpractice does occur and it is extremely unethical.
Botched deliveries: Many infants suffer physical deformities and/or brain damage due to flawed deliveries and this is among the most frightening of all malpractice cases.
Unreasonable delays: There is a certain timeframe in which a procedure can be performed. Internal bleeding, for example, can result in death if not treated properly. The same can be said of infections, cancer treatment, or any other life threatening condition. Non-life threatening conditions can lead to permanent injuries when not treated in time either.
Improper treatment: Treating a patient is not enough. The patient must be treated properly and in accordance with established medical care procedures. To do otherwise opens the door for a malpractice suit.
Defective prescriptions: Giving flawed drugs to a patient can have severe consequences. This is why medical malpractice laws are in place to protect against such issues.
Unauthorized experimental procedures: Needless to say, it is not permitted for a physician to perform experimental procedures on a patient.
