Are the practice exams in the Barron’s AP Environmental Science review book harder than the actual APES exam?
Question by : Are the practice exams in the Barron’s AP Environmental Science review book harder than the actual APES exam?
I’ve taken a few of the practice exams in the Barron’s books and have done reasonably well (3′s/4′s usually) but the practice ones are way harder than the ones we take in class, and my teacher works for the College Board! I’m wondering if the Barron’s practice ones are harder than the real APES exam (I sure hope so) and I’m also wondering if the Barron’s practice exams are released AP tests, or if they are original, created by Barron’s. Any help would be great thank you!

Which exams are typically ordered to follow a year(s) after a successful colon cancer surgery?
Question by delfinazul23: Which exams are typically ordered to follow a year(s) after a successful colon cancer surgery?
A person very dear to me had colon cancer in 2007 and had a successful surgery to remove the tumor. She also had some months of coadyuvant therapy (chemo?). There have been further (clean) colorectal exams but I wonder which other exams are ordered in the first year or two following the surgery to guard against possible spread to other organs?
She has regular blood exams, every 6 months. Had recently (1 yr) a colonoscopy that came out good. But no CT scan which is what worries me.

Early stage cancers treated with surgery alone have an 80% cure rate after 5 years. With the combination of chemo & surgery of later stage colon cancers, they usually continue with lab testing because chemo can affect the blood cells since chemo is really a “poison”" and often kills healthy cells too. They occasionally will do some radiation depending on the type of cancer. They may also repeat the tests they did (CAT, MRI, x-rays, etc) as well as the chem profiles & CBCs.

Strange chest problem? Medical exams show NOTHING? Help?
Question by Bob J: Strange chest problem? Medical exams show NOTHING? Help?
I have this weird chest cramping/pain thing. It goes at both sides of the front of my chest. I thought it was something to do with the lungs but all medical exams show my lungs to be healthy.
I used to smoke (very lightly) but since this came up I quit. I also worked in asbestos removal for two months, VERY SAFELY of course (and there’s no evidence that this caused whatever I have- medical exams, chest x-ray, breathing tests, etc) yet I feel this thing is wrong, that it shouldn’t be there. I didn’t always have this….
Should I keep worrying or is this all in my head? What should I do?

Chest pain is a common symptom that is caused by many different conditions. Some causes require prompt medical attention, such as angina, heart attack, or tearing of the aorta. Other causes of chest pain that may not require immediate medical intervention include spasm of the esophagus, gallbladder attack, or inflammation of the chest wall. An accurate diagnosis is important in providing proper treatment to patients with chest pain.
Angina (angina pectoris – Latin for squeezing of the chest) is chest discomfort that occurs when there is a decreased blood oxygen supply to an area of the heart muscle. In most cases, the lack of blood supply is due to a narrowing of the coronary arteries as a result of arteriosclerosis.
Angina is usually felt as:
pressure,
heaviness,
tightening,
squeezing, or
aching across the chest, particularly behind the breastbone.
This pain often radiates to the neck, jaw, arms, back, or even the teeth.
Patients may also suffer:
indigestion,
heartburn,
weakness,
sweating,
nausea,
cramping, and
shortness of breath.
Angina usually occurs during exertion, severe emotional stress, or after a heavy meal. During these periods, the heart muscle demands more blood oxygen than the narrowed coronary arteries can deliver. Angina typically lasts from 1 to 15 minutes and is relieved by rest or by placing a nitroglycerin tablet under the tongue. Nitroglycerin relaxes the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure. Both rest and nitroglycerin decrease the heart muscles demand for oxygen, thus relieving angina.
Angina is classified in one of two types: 1) stable angina or 2) unstable angina.
Hope that gives you some help…

Industrial Medical Exams and Clinics During WWII 1941 USPHS
The problem of medical care for workers and their families was of vital importance for war production during WWII. Reports to the US Public Health Service indicated that in many communities there a shortage of medical, dental, and nursing personnel, or hospital facilities, for the medical care of workers and their families. This problem arose not only from the rapid development of industries in the sparsely populated areas, but also from the shortage of professional personnel as the result of supplying the needs of the Army and Navy. Nine in every 10 industrial absences because of disability were the result of diseases and accidents incurred off the job. A few progressive employers and unions had developed comprehensive medical services for workers and their families. On the whole, however, plant medical services and union health programs had not broadened their scope to include general medical care. In hard-pressed industrial communities, where no other facilities are available, industrial medical services could be extended to general medical care both for employees and their families. Since the shortage of physicians available for full-time industrial service impeded the expansion of in-plant programs, the practising physicians of war communities were utilized to the utniost by industry. Approximately one-third of our workers had have available such services in their plants. The remaining two-thirds of our workers who were employed in small plants of less than 500 were …
A quick demo of a pile of leftover parts and some linoleum floor tile that became a guitar. The plywood body is from a Memphis copy, the neck is from a Squier Affinity Tele and has a reshaped heel to fit the body, and the pickup is from an Epiphone SG, wired to a single 250k Alpha pot. The bridge is from a ’92 Fender Strat with a full sized zinc block and random leftover saddles from another trem. It’s blocked with five springs and a piece of mahogany wedged behind the bridge. The guitar is stung with .012-.052 D’Addarios with a wound third and is tuned to open E with high action. I’m playing with a Dunlop 220 steel slide. The amp is a late 60′s Kustom K200-B6 solid state head plugged into a pair of Epiphone Valve Junior cabinets with a Boss OD-3 in front of it to get the dirt. I recorded this with the built in mic on my Macbook Pro since I didn’t have my audio interface with me… PS- I found out about a week after making the pickguard for this that the floor tile I used might contain asbestos, so if you’re going to make a pickguard like this, use new vinyl floor tiles….
