Would it be wrong to ask a hospital to donate funds for cancer research?
Question by Lorena: Would it be wrong to ask a hospital to donate funds for cancer research?
I’m participating in Team In Training, where members raise funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and train for endurance events. I recently visited MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, and I felt moved to help those patients.
I was wondering if it would be morally wrong to ask the hospital for a donation?

Answer by catlover3
I’m not sure if anyone would consider it morally wrong, but the hospital’s funds go directly to the patients who are suffering from cancer, so I wouldn’t personally want to take money away from them. It’s possible the hospital may already donate to cancer research, or they may have a no donation policy to conserve their monetary resources for their own patients. You can always ask and see what happens!

Question by Mary: Good people walk miles to raise funds for research that will cure breast cancer.?
Why were research funds given to Planned Parenthood. I thought the funds were strictly for breast cancer research. Planned Parenthood does not conduct breast cancer research, does it? What is your take on all this?

Start a foundation in his name. Or, you can stand in front of stores with necklaces, or something homemade and sell them. People really don’t care what you’re selling; if the cause is just they’ll buy or even donate to you. Make sure you mention what your father suffers from. They’re plenty of families that have gone through what you’re going through, and would love to help you out.
Good Luck

Why should smokers have access to medicare/medicaid funds to fight smoking related illnesses?
Question by anonymous asker: Why should smokers have access to medicare/medicaid funds to fight smoking related illnesses?
Don’t they poision themselves knowingly? And isn’t lung cancer the natural result of smoking for several years?
I’m not suggesting deny them treatment, that would be cruel. Just make them financially responsible for the result of posioning one’s self.

First of all a prayer to your mom and her family. A very informative website,http://www.breastcancer.org/, and also try Avon (yes the perfume and makeup gurus). They may have a grant that she qualifies for. There are many out there if you are willing to do the work in looking for them.

How to fundraise for yourself to raise funds for cancer treatments not covered by insurance?????
Question by AJ: How to fundraise for yourself to raise funds for cancer treatments not covered by insurance?????
What are the legal outlines to fundraise for myself in need of funds for medical expenses? I need cancer treatments at a distant treatment center and the treatments and travel are not covered by my insurance and I am in need of financial support. I would like to do something to raise funds for medical bills. Can this be done? What type of bank account is needed? Will I need to report the money raised? What ideas do people have to do a personal fundraiser. Has anyone done it before?? Please help? Any ideas useful and appreciated!

Open a web site and explain your situation and perhaps people will donate for your need.
Put up a picture of yourself, with a description of your situation and your background and your needs. Make it colorful with a way to donate.
There was a young adult female who opened a web site to request donations to pay off her bills.. And she did it.

Coast Capital Savings Proudly Sponsors COPS FOR CANCER.
Help us help the kids.
We are proud to be the official Tour Sponsor of the 2009 Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer tour, a partnership between the Canadian Cancer Society and local police agencies to raise funds for research into paediatric cancer research, programs and camps like Camp Goodtimes.
When does the campaign start?
We’re excited to kick off our annual fundraising campaign for this important cause on Wednesday, August 19. The campaign will run until Saturday, October 3. Keep your eyes peeled for more information at a branch near you this August.
Thanks in part to the generosity of our staff and members, hundreds of BC children living with cancer had the opportunity to attend Camp Goodtimes last year. For these children, Camp Goodtimes is a special place, providing them with the opportunity to just be kids and to be around other children with cancer.
The Canadian Cancer Society Cops for Cancer tour is our largest corporate fundraiser and to date weâve raised a whopping .5 million for this cause. In 2008, our staff raised more than 8,000 through fundraisers such as head shaves, karaoke contests, bake sales, and more.

Q&A: I have a question about trust funds?
Question by aimee c: I have a question about trust funds?
Here is the story…
My father was exposed to Asbestos back in the 60-70′s by a company that he worked.there was a lawsuit and he was awarded a settlement. The company filed for Bankruptcy in 1990.Any way my father died in 2007 from a form of Lung Cancer.
So fast foward to today .My older sister called and told me that she had checks for my sisters and I from the settlement.Im 26 my middle sister is 30 and my older sister is 33.The sister in charge of the trust is older,So altogether there are 4 of us.My question is would a judge put her in charge of a trust for adults? Or does someone else other than us have to be in charge of the checks. She also said that the settlement company left out my 33 year old sister and that we would have to split our checks with her.I dont have a problem doing this but something seems fishy
thanks for answering

Your question is a written in a way that makes your situation a little confusing.
If your dad set up a trust then he very well may have established your older sister as the Trustee. Is your older sister the executor of the estate for your father?
If you think there is something fishy with the whole situation then I would advise you consult an estate attorney.
