My labs come in & i have a few questions;
Ct Abdomen & Pelvis,lung base=normal,Liver=Mild farry infiltration change. No discrete lesion. Spleen=Normal. Kidneys=Several small subcentimeter low densities in both kidneys. Probable cysts, no worrisome lesion is suspected. The ureters are not dilated. Peritoneum= No free air; Cholecystectomy clips.
Bowel=No Obstruction. Appendix=normal, 16mm folicle on left ovary
Findings=Multiple small low densities in both kidneys have the appearance of small cysts. This is more than we see in a patient this age. Recommend family history of possible cystic renal disease in family.
Follow up tests showed=
Right kidney=Mid one third of kidney is a echogentic density w/o definite acoustic shadowing could be a cyst or ectatic calix with some debris within it, non shadowing calculus. Superior Pole a sonolucent mass with echogentic posterior wall felt to represent a cyst about 8mm in diameter. The mid one third of kidney has another lesion with same characteristics constitent with a cyst that is about 8 to 10 mm in diameter & Left kidney= sonolucent mass consistant with a cyst, good shadowing, distally about 1.4×1.4x 1 cm in size. More low density lesions seen. Benefit to do follow up on these parent cysts. Both kidneys normal in size and contour. no evidence of hydronephrosis.
I’m not really worried except the lab said i have to many cysts for my age. My family doctor told me i don’t. Is this to many cysts?

It doesn’t say that you have polycystic kidney disease or other major pathology. One person I know has to talk to the ultrasound technician every time that a kidney ultrasound is done.

There are multiple cysts described by the imaging studies, however in cases of polycystic kidney disease there are usually MANY MANY more cysts than the 3 or so you have.
I think your family doctor is right and I don’t think you need to be investigated for polycystic kidney disease.
It would, however, be prudent to keep an eye on the kidney function – to take a urine test and blood test from time to time (?annually) to keep an eye on things.

Not me, but my friend did. Dr. found a small nodule in her lung and advised “watchful waiting.”
She waited 3 mos. and then 3 mos. again. It hasn’t grown much, so she is still “watching.”
Ask your doctor if “watchful waiting” is still an option for you.

He has stage 3A small cell lung cancer,I’ve offered to drive him yet he insists on walking. This is an Xbf with obvious mental problems too because he’s happy he has cancer because he’s getting attention.He can walk all these miles at a fast pace, yet when I sit next to him in church he’s huffing and puffing telling me that he can’t breathe. WTF??? Is this all for attention? He also walks himself to chemo, I’m confused. He complains he feels sick but still walks. ODD????

the walking causes a person to breath deeper and it just may be helpful to him====a person can be very sick and still be able to walk

That is a question best left up to the individual who has the non small cell ca. The physician will give the patient the best advice. Some will choose not to attempt further treatment and others will. The prognosis is not really that great but the important thing is to remain positive. a non small cell ca that has metastasized to the brain is a very aggressive carcinoma. Best ask your doctor for advice. Also, check into Hospice program.

My mother in law just got diagnosed and is in the last stage of MS. I was wondering if anyone has been around this before cause I have no experience with cancer and I know very little about MS. I do know that she is in stage 3 of MS and it causes her to be very weak and I was wondering what are her chances of survival through the lung being cut out without having the chemo therapy. She had a chemo therapy with the MS that was a half a dose of the red chemo therapy and her body couldnt even take that. I have so many questions and would like any info I can get so please dont be shy and be straight about everything.

Her prognosis is not good. Her doctor will in all likelhood focus on reducing her suffering but cannot try to cure her disease. Enjoy each others company while it lasts.

I don’t understand why so many people believe this – lots of things that are ‘natural’ are posionous or cancer-causing, too (asbestos, creosote, jimson weed, deadly nightshade) and many man-made things are perfectly safe, but it seems most people reccomend ‘natural’ stuff as if it almost holds magical qualities. Why do so many people have this mind-set?

I have been working at this job for about 9 months now, in the beginning they would all go outside and smoke, now for the past few months they feel they can smoke in there office, bathroom, kitchen, storage room, etc., they feel because they can close the door to the room that they are in it shouldn’t effect anybody else. This is a small company, 10 – 12 workers, two big offices, the bosses own office, small kitchen, storage room, two bathrooms and a big warehouse, its the bosses who are the ones smoking, and like 2 or 3 of the other workers here. I know its against the law to smoke inside a place of business, especially when you have people working. Not to mention that I am a Cancer Survivor of Head & Neck Cancer that might be related to being around Smoke all my life, even though I never smoked a day in my life… Who can I report this company to? Fire department? who can I call and make a anonymous call to complain about them smoking in here and get them in trouble? They have so many fire hazards here as well, the Sprinklers on the ceiling are all dusty and clogged from the smoke, if a fire happens in here we will all die. No offense but I work for a Russian Boss, Russian Manager and a few Russian Co-workers, all the people that smoke are Russians except one person, the Russian people I work with are very stuck up, they feel like they are God and they can do what they want.
How do I put a stop to this? where do I report this health hazard and fire hazard?

Cannabis sativa- more commonly know as our friend Mary Jane. She has been subjected to irrational amounts of propaganda and biased judgement ever since the outlaw of marijuana in the first place. She has withered down to become nothing more than a poster in school or an essay written by a sad human product of our culture, forced to believe exactly what is expected of him. This is intended to be purely informational, but I hope to sway the opinions of at least some who had never considered the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits that derive from smoking marijuana, even on a regular basis. She means no harm.
It is fair to consider America today as a health conscious culture. Although we do not always abide by what we may be aware of, (eg; eating a supersize hamburger every week can triple your risk of obtaining heart disease, yet we just love mcdonalds), it is beyond me that more of us are unaware of all the good mary jane can do for you! We are the same people that open health stores and shovel vitamins down our throats to the extent that we piss them out! First things first, I feel compelled to clarify a few myths about chronic marijuana users:
1. Marijuana users have an increased risk of acquiring cancer.
- As a matter of fact, inhaling any substance composed of burning carbon can increase your risk of throat, esophagus, and lung cancer. However, many people overlook the fact that THC (the active ingredient in marijuana) actual is a natural inhibitor to tumor growth. It almost guarantees safety in this aspect. Not to mention, marijuana smoke has a tendency to EXPAND the capillaries all throughout the body, as opposed to nicotine in cigarettes which CONTRACTS them, making it almost impossible to produce a cleansing effect. Also, a recent study from UC done to lab mice showed that they contracted cancer ONLY when exposed to unreasonable amounts of marijuana smoke- 1000 to 2000x greater than the average human marijuana smoker. Conspiracy? Contaminated Conclusions? In fact, if people are so concerned about marijuana and cancer, things such as vaporizers can be purchased to elminate any amount of carbon being taken into the body. The benefits outweigh the risks as you may soon come to learn. Actually, more clean and oxygenated blood can be distributed throughout the body while using marijuana due to the parasympathetic dilation of the capillaries.
2. Chronic marijuana smokers are lazy.
- Don’t be ignorant, half of all americans are LAZY! So we get food stamps, government aid, free healthcare, etc. The so-called “laziness” assumed to be a characteristic of said “potheads” could easily be confused with a state of being purely american. People choose to be lazy for themselves. If this plant were the cause of laziness, why is it that many laborers in early africa actually puffed ganja while doing intensive work? SImply because it increased their senses of well-being, relieved their fatigue, and stimulated their appetite which thus gave them more energy to work. We are only lazy if we do not find an outlet for such energy, or find something productive to do with our time.
3. Chronic marijuana users suffer from memory loss or impairment.
- It is plainly fact that short term, yes marijuana can inhibit memory. However, there is a purpose for this regarding spiritual enlightenment that cannot be achieved without ‘letting go’ of some things, only temporarily. However, there are NO conclusive studies ever performed that prove marijuana to have a significant impact on long term memory. This is because THC is a chemical that only stimulates brain receptors and causes them to function differently, expanding perception. It does not harm or kill them as a toxin. All effects of marijuana can easily be cleared out of the brain in reasonably short periods of time.
4. Marijuana is an addictive and gateway substance.
- We all should understand that there is no evidence of physical addiction to marijuana, it is all a state of mind. As for being a gateway to other substance abuse, that again is a decision that many people decide for themselves. Marijuana is not to be confused with a substance that “fucks you up”. It merely lends you perception. Nevertheless, if people want to get fucked up, then they will. Why is it that when the Dutch legalized marijuana in the 1970′s, there was actually a decrease in the use of cocaine and heroin? In my personal opinion, I prefer not to end up feeling cold, and shaky, and sick, and keep yearning for more.
Now, I have more to say regarding a more spiritual and mental aspect of smoking herb. Now, consider any normal cicumstance. Our brain is full of conditioned responses, as proved by Sigmund Freud’s experiment regarding the salivation of dogs. It is this that creates many divisions of our society including that of social classes, castes, and racial conflicts. A few months ago I was just like any other young woman, going to to a great college, having fun with friends, going to parties, dating, loving life.
In April, I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE in which my own immune system actually starts attacking my own body. My lupus started attacking my heart and lungs.. and now I have been diagnosed with Pulmonary Hypertension.. which is high blood pressure in your lungs. This is a very serious disease and between the these two conditions, I have been hospitalized twice in the last few months.
People tell me i look great but I feel horrible emotionally and mentally. Even though I live a pretty normal life now (just more tired and have to rest more, eat less salt..ect) I cant go to school, I take about 8 medications, and I am pretty much at home most of the time taking it easy. That means I dont have a social life, school, work.. anything. I’m depressed sometimes.. Maybe if there are others going through the same thing, we can support one another

Ever heard the phrase “There’s no sense in crying over spilled milk?” Well, that may apply to me. So, a few months ago I lived in an apartment which was built in the early 1980s. With that said, I was putting some screw hooks into the ceiling and wanted to take a quick peek into the attic loft/crawlspace to make sure that I wasn’t near any electrical wiring. I proceeded to do so and noticed an insulation underneath the yellow loose fill fiberglass that I had never seen before. I know what loose fill cellulose/newspaper insulation looks like and this wasn’t it. This material could best be described as a brownish/gray material in coloration. Also, upon close observation, you could see long straight splinter like fibers embedded in this material. I realize that it is too late now, but could this material have been asbestos? I didn’t think that asbestos was allowed to be used as loose fill insulation in the early 1980s? Also, as far as I know fiberglass insulation has always been either pink, yellow, or white in its loose fill form so I’m pretty sure that this material wasn’t fiberglass. Anybody got any ideas on what I may have exposed myself to?
Oh yeah, I tried to burn a sample of this material with a cigarette lighter and this sh*t WOULD NOT burn.

Asbestos fibers are almost microscopic so the splintering shouldn’t be that. It would be very rare to find an 80′s house with asbestos insulation. The only true way is to have samples sent out to determine if it is. The fact it doesn’t burn could be treated with a fire repellent that has a class a or class b rating. If you’re concerned have it tested.

Okay, this gets complicated…let me get right into things…
My godfather was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2008, and it moved into his brain within the last few weeks (cerebellum). At this point, he decided against the radiation and wanted nothing more then to come home for his last few weeks-months of his life. He was able to eat soft food and drink fluids.
On Wednesday, his two daughters decided that he should go to a hospital against his wishes. The ambulance company and the hospice moved him. When I got to the hospital the next day, he was given a strict NPO order and basically was made to starve to death. Angry as all heck over the order, I went to find out what can be done and discovered that she lacked any form for Power Of Attorney. When I went into the hospital, they told me there was nothing on file with Power Of Attorney at the hospital and that he was on I.V’s. I entered the room and he was still not on I.V’s. Moreover, I was told that a doctor had seen him when he was admitted that Wednesday night but that was found to be untrue.
After two more attempts on Saturday morning to try and get him some I.V’s, food, or fluids, he finally passed away that afternoon. The first attempt I was told to call back later that morning and on the second attempt, I was hung up on. My question is…who do I sue in this situation? If the daughters lacked the proper paperwork, they should not have moved him, am I correct? Furthermore, it makes it doubly bad because hospice did not double-check these papers, right? On top of all of this, he was denied any visitation besides the two daughters who stayed in his room the entire time. I was only able to see him after the Director of Nursing got me in there on his final night, and had to wait two hours to do so. This was wrong, was it not?
Any information someone could give would be very much appreciated. Thank you. I am looking to start litigation against someone next week, and I was just wondering if someone can show me something that I might have missed.
