Why is fighting AIDs more important than fighting other disease?
Question by Tom S: Why is fighting AIDs more important than fighting other disease?
It seems as if much of the emphasis on providing funds for research or to help less fortunate countries is always on AIDS.
Why don’t we governments or individuals talk about curing or fighting malaria, sanitation-caused illnesses, cancer, heart disease, kidney disease or other health issues that kill just as many people or more than AIDS does.
It there a political agenda behind fighting AIDS?
Best answer:
Answer by Joe C
You are 100% correct.
AIDS is the world’s first politically protected disease, because it was brought into the world and spread into the general population by the homosexuals.
Even to this day 50% of the people who have it are homosexuals, even though they make up only about 2% of the population.
Article:
•One study reports 70% of homosexuals admitting to having sex only one time with over 50% of their partners (3).
•One study reports that the average homosexual has between 20 and 106 partners per year (6). The average heterosexual has 8 partners in a lifetime.
•Many homosexual sexual encounters occur while drunk, high on drugs, or in an orgy setting (7).
•Many homosexuals don’t pay heed to warnings of their lifestyles: “Knowledge of health guidelines was quite high, but this knowledge had no relation to sexual behavior” (16).
•Homosexuals got homosexuality removed from the list of mental illnesses in the early 70s by storming the annual American Psychiatric Association (APA) conference on successive years. “Guerrilla theater tactics and more straight-forward shouting matches characterized their presence” (2). Since homosexuality has been removed from the APA list of mental illnesses, so has pedophilia (except when the adult feels “subjective distress”) (27).
•Homosexuals account for 34% of all gonorrhea cases, 60% of all syphilis cases, and 17% of all hospital admissions (other than for STDs) in the United States (5). They make up only 1-2% of the population.
•Homosexuals live unhealthy lifestyles, and have historically accounted for the bulk of syphilis, gonorrhea, Hepatitis B, the “gay bowel syndrome” (which attacks the intestinal tract), tuberculosis and cytomegalovirus (27).
•73% of psychiatrists say homosexuals are less happy than the average person, and of those psychiatrists, 70% say that the unhappiness is NOT due to social stigmatization (13).
•25-33% of homosexuals and lesbians are alcoholics (11).
•Of homosexuals questioned in one study reports that 43% admit to 500 or more partners in a lifetime, 28% admit to 1000 or more in a lifetime, and of these people, 79% say that half of those partners are total strangers, and 70% of those sexual contacts are one night stands (or, as one homosexual admits in the film “The Castro”, one minute stands) (3). Also, it is a favorite past-time of many homosexuals to go to “cruisy areas” and have anonymous sex.
•78% of homosexuals are affected by STDs (20).
•Judge John Martaugh, chief magistrate of the New York City Criminal Court has said, “Homosexuals account for half the murders in large cities” (10).
•Captain William Riddle of the Los Angeles Police says, “30,000 sexually abused children in Los Angeles were victims of homosexuals” (10).
•50% of suicides can be attributed to homosexuals (10).
•Dr. Daniel Capron, a practicing psychiatrist, says, “Homosexuality by definition is not healthy and wholesome. The homosexual person, at best, will be unhappier and more unfulfilled than the sexually normal person” (10). For other psychiatrists who believe that homosexuality is wrong, please see National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality.
•It takes approximately $ 300,000 to take care of each AIDS victim, so thanks to the promiscuous lifestyle of homosexuals, medical insurance rates have been skyrocketing for all of us(10).
•Homosexuals were responsible for spreading AIDS in the United States, and then raised up violent groups like Act Up and Ground Zero to complain about it. Even today, homosexuals account for well over 50% of the AIDS cases in the United States, which is quite a large number considering that they account for only 1-2% of the population.
•Homosexuals account for a disproportionate number of hepatitis cases: 70-80% in San Francisco, 29% in Denver, 66% in New York City, 56% in Toronto, 42% in Montreal, and 26% in Melbourne (8).
•37% of homosexuals engage in sadomasochism, which accounts for many accidental deaths. In San Francisco, classes were held to teach homosexuals how to not kill their partners during sadomasochism (8).
•41% of homosexuals say they have had sex with strangers in public restrooms, 60% say they have had sex with strangers in bathhouses, and 64% of these encounters have involved the use of illegal drugs (8).
•Depending on the city, 39-59% of homosexuals are infected with intestinal parasites like worms, flukes and amoebae, which is common in filthy third world countries (8).
•The median age of death of homosexuals is 42 (only 9% live past age 65). This drops to 39 if the cause of death is AIDS. The median age of death of a married heterosexual man is 75 (8).

How important is a diagnosis in treating respiratory diseases?
Question by h: How important is a diagnosis in treating respiratory diseases?
I have smoked from the age of 11 (a pack a day since 14) and am now 34. I get bronchitis 2-3 times a year, usually for at least a month. I had pneumonia as a child. No members of my immediate family have suffered from respiratory problems, apart from an uncle who died of lung cancer after a lifetime’s work in a lab.
My GP has prescribed me Ventolin and antibiotics for my current bout of bronchitis. (I quit smoking five days ago, using NRT – not for the first time.) She asked me if I had asthma. I have no idea: when I was tested using spirometry by a nurse one year ago, it was her first time ever using the machine. She wasn’t sure herself whether she’d done it right, and nothing was entered into the record.
On my most recent visit to the doctor’s, I couldn’t breathe well enough to use the spirometer without breaking into a coughing fit. When I asked what I had, she said ‘the treatment is the same, it doesn’t matter what the diagnosis is’.
I’d like to know how true this is. I found some things online that suggest using this approach to diagnose isn’t advised (i.e., comparing breathing function before and after medication).
I could have asthma, simple bronchitis, or something more frightening, and I’m scaring myself silly.
To be honest, I’ve never experienced treatment much better than this in my time in the UK. I’m sure the NHS has good doctors; I’ve just not lucked into them. Will look and see what I can do.
Best answer:
Answer by Hannah H
Let’s use a little common sense. Of course the diagnosis matters. There are a million different medications and a million different respiratory diseases. This goes for pretty much all of medicine. If I have a cold, I won’t be taking antibiotics, because they’ll do me no good. Seriously.
Even people with the same disease use different treatments. For example, Asthmatic A might just use albuterol (aka ventolin) before exercising, but Asthmatic B might need Flovent along with albuterol, while Asthmatic C might do better on Advair.
Personally, I’d switch doctors.
Edit: Yeah, I’ve heard NHS can be tricky. Can you get a referral to a pulmonary specialist?

Why is Baron Montesquieu’s ideas important to preserving citizens freedom?
Question by : Why is Baron Montesquieu’s ideas important to preserving citizens freedom?
Anyone?
Best answer:
Answer by Sanje E
Montesquieu knew that there was always the danger of a political leader becoming too powerful. So, in order to prevent this, he devised a system where the government will be divided into branches (legislative, executive, judicial). Each would act as a check against the others. Under such a system, no leader could become all powerful.

Team of doctors…how important was it for you?
Question by Dave: Team of doctors…how important was it for you?
There are some things we can control when it comes to breast cancer and one of the most important is our team of doctors that will be in our corner fighting breast cancer. Initially our regular doctor gave us some options on where we would like our treatment.
We had several choices one where we could have everything in one location and the other we would have to go to several places during each phase of treatment. We picked having everything done at one place. (Seattle Swedish Cancer Center).
The first person on our team was a breast surgeon. He set us up with tests to determine the staging of the cancer. Then we had to choose an oncologist. I looked at our local magazine that had the Best Doctors in our region for breast cancer. Luckily two were in our cancer clinic so we picked Dr. Rinn. She would not accept us unless we had a port-a-cath implanted so we did (very good decision). Finally she recommended a radiation oncologist who was rated highly in the same magazine Dr. Morris. So, we had our team in place and felt very comfortable in that regard.
How important do you feel it is in having a good team of doctors to help you in your breast cancer fight?
If you had to do it over again would you choose different doctors…why?
Best answer:
Answer by Verite R
You are absolutely right – having a good team in place is vitally important for cancer patients – if you don’t have confidence in your team, you are going to feel very resentful when side effects kick in.
Now I have chopped and changed, and have an excellent team on which to call, but until I did I felt very alone trying to handle side effects on my own. So, to give myself ‘Dutch courage’ I set up www.after-cancer.com – which gives details of clinically trialled products that I found helped me. If anyone else feels ‘left out’ by their oncology team, the ideas might help.

He was a French social commentator and political thinker who lived during the Era of the Enlightenment. He is famous for his articulation of the theory of ***separation of powers***, taken for granted in modern discussions of government and implemented in many constitutions throughout the world. He was largely responsible for the popularization of the terms feudalism and Byzantine Empire.

Should cancer research be a global priority or are there more important global issues to pay attention to?
Question by MikeG: Should cancer research be a global priority or are there more important global issues to pay attention to?
Cindy Crawford believes that cancer research should be a global priority, and the majority of people that answered Crawford’s question support her (but mostly based for Crawford, only the US economic and political issues, and their own personal, and even biased, experiences). But in my belief, cancer research should not even come close to being a global priority.
So my question is what issue(s) do you think should be a GLOBAL PRIORITY? (Read the capitalized words carefully, and not based on US conditions, and be as neutral as possible). If you still believe cancer research should be a global priority, explain why.

Doctors need to know a disease exists so they can cure it. It’s like breast cancer awareness. Before we can cure it, we need to inform doctors that it exists. Walking in marathons and wearing those pink ribbons raise awareness of this terrible disease. Pancreatic cancer needs more media attention so we can inform doctors of it.

I’m writing a research essay on why different types of cancer, like breast cancer, are more ‘important’?
Question by Brandon G: I’m writing a research essay on why different types of cancer, like breast cancer, are more ‘important’?
So I’m against breast cancer being one of the top funded foundations for cures. I saw we should all have general funding for the general cancer. Now I already have causes and effects. I need solutions. What kind of solutions could I use to show how to make other cancers more known and funded? They have to be real like, What are we doing currently to make this happen?

The cancers that are most aggressive and most prevalent are the ones that get the most attention.
Other than HIV, cancer has more funding than any disease.

Question by ᵀᴴᴱ ᴼᴿᴵᴳᴵᴻᴬᴸ: Please answer this important question about trespassing?
Today I was with four of my friends, two of which have been on or in possession of drugs/have had a run-in with the police/have been on house arrest. We went to an abandoned hotel on Main Street in the process of being torn down to take photographs. When we were getting ready to leave, a police officer showed up and casually accosted us. He took down our names, birthdays, addresses, home phone numbers, parent’s cell phone numbers, and parent’s names. He didn’t give us a fine or anything, just a warning due to safety reasons (asbestos and loose boards and such) and we parted ways. My question to you is was this serious in his eyes-as in would this be on our permanent record? Will we be fined? Will our parents be notified? Your help is appreciated.

Q&A: What do you think the most important 9/11 video is?
Question by Philosopher: What do you think the most important 9/11 video is?
okay, so I can’t say which one is the most important, but I will say that “total proof of bombs 9/11″ by the youtube user Nuffrespect is one of the most convincing. In the first moments of the video it shows people talking on a pay phone with dust covering the cars lining the streets, and a huge explosion occurs, and firefighters telling them to back up. It then goes on to show news reporters saying how there were multiple explosions after the plane crashes in the buildings. The amount of witnesses that claimed they heard bombs going off is staggering, even from fire fighters themselves.
I also think that an incredible fact is that during the first NIST report they mention that there was no steel recovered from WTC 7. Also, they didn’t come out with a report on WTC 7′s collapse until 7 years after the incident.
I find this to be incredible because it means they stalled their investigation for seven years. Whereas the government raced to pass the patriot act soon after 9/11 it took NIST 7 years to finish the investigation of WTC 7?
I’m sorry but it’s so obvious that there are some major faults with the whole 9/11 incident. Larry Silverstein has never been investigated for insurance fraud despite him mentioning on air that he gave the order to pull building 7, and that WTC 1 and 2 had asbestos damage that would have taken billions of dollars to fix. The bombs going off in the buildings were later nixed on the major air waves and the only time the media ever mentioned 9/11 was to talk about crazy conspiracy theories and how stupid they were. it’s amazing
I don’t agree with people who say that Bush was behind it, that’s ridiculous everyone knows Bush isn’t smart enough to pull that off since he messed up multiple times keeping his mouth shut. He comments that Bin Laden is not important and that Saddam is who they’re really after, after they go on and on about Bin Laden, and then it turns out Bin Laden had nothing to do with it, Khalid Shaikh Mohammed was the master mind! LOL.
I understand that certain powerful individuals wanted to go to Iraq for political reasons and the christian right think they’re battling a holy war, but get real, this is not working anymore, any sort of patriotism that 9/11 caused has been hijacked more than any terrorist could dream of.
here’s the link to your explosion, you can hear it yourself, no witness needed other than yourself http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n-nT-luFIw
yes, I saw the link where they say “pull” is not a demolition term and Silverstein was referring to fire fighters. LoL, that is not true, “we decided to pull it” does not refer to fire fighters, since when do people refer to fire fighters as “it.” plus, who gave Silverstein the authority on 9/11 to direct the fire fighters? Do you think he would have any power over what fire fighters do? But he would have power to detonate the building.
sorry but I need more indepth videos than just what they showed on fox news.
they mention secondary devices, also there were no evidence of any plane debris at the WTC site
he didn’t lose money, he gained 7 billion dollars in law suits off a 99 year lease he paid a few million dollars for. Where did you get that he lost money? And why haven’t they built those so called freedom towers yet? Probably cause he doesn’t want to fork over the money.

Chemistry on the Web: How Can we Crowdsource Chemistry to Solve Important Problems?
Google Tech Talk April 6, 2010 ABSTRACT Presented by Dr Matthew Todd, School of Chemistry, University of Sydney. Open Science: how can we crowdsource chemistry to solve important problems? Science shaped itself in the founding days of learned societies: individuals or teams competed, in secret, with paper-based communication in subscription journals. Why are we all still doing science like this? The internet has had a major impact in our sharing of data by traditional means, but it has not yet radically changed the way we actually perform science. My lab is involved in a new project a government/WHO-funded research project that is completely open, where we are trying to solve a serious problem in public health through basic research in organic chemistry. The project involves a wonder drug used to treat a tropical disease but we need to improve it, and fast: www.nature.com With an eye on the bigger issue, we propose open methods can allow science to happen faster than traditional means, but we do not yet have the tools to make this happen. This talk is about hard science and soft human nature. It is also an appeal for decent tools scientists need to collaborate properly. The over-riding requirement: low barrier to entry.
