I really need sources on where to find information about Breast Cancer Treatment from the 1900′s to the present. We are doing a Camp for the Cure and part of the badge work for “In the Pink” says to share the information about treatments from the 1900′s to the present. We are making poster for the local Race for the Cure in October. I really need some kind of information. My web searches have come up with little especially for the 1900′s. Most refer me to medical journals which you have to be a medical professional and pay for the subscription online.

HELP!!!
Really need the medical treatments. I know the patient’s first hand experience is great for them to know, but we have ladies coming in to talk to them about this part of the treatments. We need more of a timeline on the progress of treatment from the 1900′s to the present.
All the information that is on the Girl Scout Studio 2B is at my finger tips all the time since I am serving as an Adult volunteer for a Camp Events Committee for the local council. I have already Googled and have most of the sites suggested bookmarked. I was trying to find something new. What was the technology, resources, and if they didn’t know exactly what it was what did they do in the 1900′s?

If you go to www.after-cancer.com you will find a lot of information written by patients about the day-to-day treatments they have from 2000 – 2009. This covers what they feel and experience, rather than the official medical writing!

My 14 yr.old sister Jamie has Kidney Cancer that has spread to her Lungs and she has been given a 30% survival rate.This is a very terrible time for my parents, they are and older couple and my sister’s illness has been hard on their health. My question is, “Does anyone know anywhere or anyone where my my mom and dad can get a free medical check-up or eye check-up?” My mom and dad don’t have money to go to the doctor, they are a very low income family with no insurance. My little sister Jamie is currently on medcaid which has been helping her but sometimes give her trouble. Please, if anybody has info. that can help them, let me know. Jamie is currently being treated at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital in Houston,Tx. This is not fake or a joke, but if do need more info. on Jamie please let me know.Jamie is set to have a biopsy on Tuesday and tests on Monday to see how aggressive the cancer is and the type,They really need a lot of help and prayers. Thank You.

I am not familiar with Houston Texas Healthcare but I believe that if you get in touch with you Department of Health they will be the best one to guide you under your circumstances. Periodically, funds are available specifically for low income individuals. Ask and call all referred contacts and I am sure you will find some one. As far as Jamie’s cancer I do not have the proper words to alleviate the pain that all of you are going through. I lost my mother to cancer many years ago and I understand everything that you are going through because I have been there. However, this is the time when all of you need each other the most. You all need to talk to each other with your heart open. Jamie’s departure will be less painful if she sees you all united, loving and supporting one another. There are support groups available for all of you to attend. These groups consist of a group of individuals who are going through the same experience and are willing to share feelings, strategist etc….. I think you can all benefit from attending their sessions. Find out the location closest to you by calling your operator or looking for those groups on the white phone pages and/or Internet. Take care of each other.

If it’s spread too far, what’s the life expectancy of someone with lung cancer?

I know this is a strange question. But I’m writing a story and the person’s father has Lung Cancer, and I wanted to make it as realistic and true to life as I can. I want the father to be hiding it, and when he begins to slip and show he’s suffering. They go to the hospital and he gets told it’s spread so much and they can’t remove it, and he’s only expected to be alive for whatever amount of time. So if anyone knows and can help me, it would be much appreciated!

How do I get more information about my grandfather?

my grandfather passed away before i was born, even before my mum met my dad(its my dad’s dad).
i am curious about him and i have noticed i have 2 pictures of him on my computer. i asked my mom and all she knew about it was this:
○ he died from lung cancer
○ when he died, my dad was on a vacation in a different country (i think germany) with my uncle (my dad’s brother).
○ my dad got a call from his mum saying he was dead. my dad felt really guilty because he wasn’t there.
○ him and my uncle has to rush home.
○ and idk if this helps but he was in WW2.

how can i get more info? i dont want to talk to my dad or grandmother or uncle because that would just bring back bad memories.

You will need to consult family members for details. They are adults who are very well aware of death issues and so are able to handle their feelings about their already deceased relatives.

There is a large military archive in St. Louis to consult. Sorry, but I don’t know the address. You would have to give information such as military unit. There was a fire in 1973 here, so records may sometimes be impossible to recover. I have both my father and grandfather’s military records. There are also some Civil War records for my family, and all were from the same place in St. Louis.

Veterans are entitled to a military marker for their grave. It’s flat. No reason not to have this.

Military awards, the medals, can be purchased by family members easily. I use Medals of America. They are very helpful on the phone.

As a smoker, Ive had rights taken away from me because smoking “might” cause lung cancer or emphisima but its health benefits (listed in linked artical) are rarely ever spoken of. It has had some press about how smoking may protect against Parkinsons Disease and Altzheimers, so why wouldnt the government and FDA want everyone to know this as well as all the other benefits? Personally, to me lung cancer isn’t nearly as scary as Altzheimers, and I should be able to choose to protect myself against it without being shunned by the rest of the country.

My personal opinion is that people die quicker from cancer than they do from Parkinsons and Althiemers and the FDA would rather you have these diseases so you can pay much more money for treatment. Why else would the public not be made aware of these findings?
I asked the artical be READ before answering.. THESE studies were done on Smokers vs non-smokers not “nicotine suppliments” and as to the truely niave one… getting cancer from smoking is not a definite, as Im sure you know a lot of old people that smoke and don’t have cancer as everyone else does. Most people die horribly so really your answer is lame.

Don’t be naive! Don’t look for benefits of smoking because the dangers far outweigh any benefits. Smoking will result in your life ending horribly. PERIOD!

another term for the job that you are looking for is Medical Scribe. Check the local hospitals in your area to see if any of them emply scribes. There is a growing trend to use scribes (transcriptionalists) to cut down the workload of the doctors. If they dont have to write their own HPI’s and do all the paperwork, they can see up to twice as many patients. So definately check it out. Some private practice docs employ people with similar jobs. Good luck, i spent a while doing just that, and its awesome exposure to medical decision making.

Pulmonary Fibrosis involves scarring of the lung. Gradually, the air sacs of the lungs become replaced by fibrotic tissue. When the scar forms, the tissue becomes thicker causing an irreversible loss of the tissue’s ability to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream.

My grandfather was diagnosed with stage IV pancreatic cancer today. He had been in remission for three years after beating it once. It’s back in his lung now. He had surgery two weeks ago and they took out the mass that showed up on a catscan in November. They’ve done another catscan since the surgery and there may be another mass. One doctor thinks its a mass another thinks its a shadow. The oncologist said the treatment would be the same whether it was a mass or not. He will start chemo this week or next. Can someone give me some info about it? What are his chances? Don’t sugar coat anything either.

I dont know too much about pancreatic cancer, but my mother in law has stage IV Stomach Cancer and she’s doing pretty good so far. The tumors are on the outer lining of her stomach… however since you dont want it “sugar coated” I hear Pancreatic Cancer usually has a bad prognosis; but you said he beat it before, so he can beat it again.

Claude Monet was born on November 14 1840. His Father Claude Adolphe was a business man and his mom Louise-Justine Aubree Monet was a singer. His father wanted him to go into the family grocery store business, but Monet wanted to be an artist. So he entered the Le Havre secondary school of the Art. He was converted to landscape painting by his mentor Eugene Boudin. Who derived his taste for painting out of doors.
When he traveled to Paris to visit The Louvre, he witnessed painters copying from the old masters. Monet, having brought his paints and other tools with him, he would sit by a window and paint what he saw. After two years in the African Light Cavalry in Algeria, He returned to Le Havre where he met JonKind. In 1862 he entered the studio of Charles Glevre in Paris where he met Auste Renoir, Frederic Bazille and Alfred Sisley, with whom he was to form the nucleus of the Impressionist group. Monet devotion to painting out of doors was illustrated by the famous story concerning one of his most ambitious early works, woman in the garden. The picture was 2.5 meters high which enable him to paint it, Monet had a trench dug in the garden where the canvas could be raised or lowered by pulleys. In England he studied works of John Constable and Joseph Mallard, he painted the thames and London parks. In 1871, Monet lived at Argenteuil where he painted the famous work of the Impressionist Movement. This was Sunrise, an illustration of the Le Havre landscape. The Painting had been hung in the first Impressionist exhibition in 1874. Monet moved to the northwestern suburb of paris in 1878, where he painted landscapes and seascape that had been campaigns to document the French countryside. The campaigns had been evolved into a series of paintings. From 1890 Monet concentrated on series of pictures in which he painted the same subject at different times of the day in different lights. As he continued to travel, visiting London and Venice, he painted two important series; one was the view of the Parliament and the view of Charing Cross Bridge. Monet attention was now focused on the celebrated water-garden he created at Giverny, which served as the theme for the series of paintings on water lilies grew to dominate his work completely. He had a special studio built in the grounds of his house so he could work on the huge canvases. On December 5, 1926 Claude Monet died from lung cancer. Through the claude monet foundation. People were able to visit his home and garden. His house is the main attraction of Giverny.
