Does bringing up clear mucus indicate lung cancer? Please help!?
Question by : Does bringing up clear mucus indicate lung cancer? Please help!?
This is a side question that has nothing to do with the other 2 I posted its out of curiosity. Everyone knows the deal. Went to doctor YEASTERDAY for lump found in my neck 4 monts ago and he referred me for chest X-ray to check for infection or lung cancer, gave antibiotics and took blood sample to check for infection or Leukemia etc. Biopsy he said will be later. Anyway I was wondering since not that I am sick and coughed a little( I coughed rarely yesterday) and blew my nose ALOT and brought up clear mucus if this is a HUGE indication nothing is wrong with my lungs?

Answer by Memere RN/BA
No, it not. It just means your lungs are clearing out everyday pollutants. the coughing is a result of involuntary muscles causing you to cough and clear them out. The mechanism of coughing and such is too long to write but it’s not lung cancer.

How do chloride ions affect water transport and mucus buildup in cystic fibrosis?
Question by kyhoops819: How do chloride ions affect water transport and mucus buildup in cystic fibrosis?
In the disease cystic fibrosis there is a defect in the ability of endothelial cells to transport Cl- ions. What rationale would this have on water balance and possible regulation of mucus build up in the lungs? Since this defect is in a gene for all cells would other tissues besides the lungs be influence, if so, which ones and why? Besides gene therapy, what pharmacological treatments are beneficial and why for treating the Cl- ion imbalance?

What other diseases besides Cyctic Fibrosis result in think build up of mucus in the lungs and digestive track?
Question by jumpinjack: What other diseases besides Cyctic Fibrosis result in think build up of mucus in the lungs and digestive track?
I have been suffering from lung infection and poor digestion ever since I was born.. I have been seeing Chinese Medicine Doctors, and herbalists, and they have helped me greatly along the way with my symptoms. Yesterday, I read an article about a disease called Cystic Fibrosis, that sounded like what I have been dealing with all my life. But it sounded like this is a fatal diseases and mine is not that bad.(maybe due to herbs that i take and also Panciatic enzymes)… I was wondering, is there any other diseases similar to Cystic Fibrosis, where a person has a tough time digesting Fats, Starches, and …. and has constant thick mucus build up and ..????
I know I don’t have Celiac disease because I got tested for that one already.

Q&A: What can I do to get mucus out of my lungs when I have bronchitis/asthma?
Question by Impossible Brutality: What can I do to get mucus out of my lungs when I have bronchitis/asthma?
I went to a doctor yesterday that seemed pretty sure I had bronchitis. He prescribed Zithromax (very powerful and supposedly fast-acting) and 20 hours after taking the first pill I’m not feeling any better. I got a total of 6 hours of sleep in the past few days because I keep getting asthma attacks and my lungs are clogged with mucus. I’ve been coughing every 5 seconds but nothing is breaking up in my chest. I have a very deep rattling noise when I breathe and it gets worse when I lay down. I think my asthma has calmed down a bit after taking doses of albuterol every 4-6 hours. I was wondering if there is something I can do to clear the mucus out of my chest because I won’t sleep until I do. Thanks.

Why not go into the emergency and get help for it once and for all. I have asthmas and sometimes I just need to go in and get a treatment. Good luck with it.

I feel like a specialist at this subject because I walked around with a dry/irritable cough for 5 years.
Doctors misdiagnosed the damn thing for 5 years ! They told me I had allergies and to put some hard candy
in my mouth and let my saliva naturally heal my throat. Here is what I had, and I would bet money you have
the same thing.
At night when I was going to sleep my mouth would open wide so I could breathe. My throat was closing the air
passage off, this is known as sleep apnea. What this does is make your throat and mouth VERY dry. What also
was happening was, I was experiencing acid reflux. This was causing acid from my stomach to back up into my
esophagus. This was burning the back of my throat and irritating it.
You can get temporary relief by drinking very hot tea, that helps the back of your throat. The sleep apnea can
be treated by a doctor by giving you a CPAP machine, but you will most likely want to control it with a good
diet. It also helps to not eat anything for four hours before going to bed.

Question by lliam: a respiratory disease is characterized by presence of mucus along the respiratory tract.?
Mucus accumulates in the organs of the human respiratory system, making respiration process very difficult.
please help me listing all the organs of the respiratory system, explaining how the respiratory process is affected in each case.
Best answer:
Answer by Martijn
The disease you’re investigating is probably Cystic Fribrosis (CF). This disease causes the mucus in the respiratory system (which also naturally occurs in healthy people) to be very thick. This disease cause direct damage to the lungs, because the thick mucus causes many lung infections. This causes the lungs to be covered in scar tissue, this process is also known as fibrosis.

Q&A: is little blood with coughing mucus means lung cancer?
Question by koko: is little blood with coughing mucus means lung cancer?
it happened twice last night then it was gone. had little blood coming out yesterday in my saliva and it happened again before going to bed, there was little blood after i coughed mucus. does that necessarily means lung cancer or it could be something else? btw it happened just one time before, five months ago . what that could be?
Best answer:
Answer by aimwalk
It doesn’t necessarily mean you have cancer. It could be indicative of something serious, though, and you need to get it check out. Have you been doing a lot of coughing? If so, it may just be that you have damaged your throat…I would still get it checked though.
