why dont they at least offer many proven natural treatments like oasisofhope.com in new mexico??? i know what it is like to care for cancer patients and i know traditional medicine is big business… many times the traditional treatments cause the death of the patient… the cancer society will quote deceptive figures to make it appear that they are making headway in cancer research and treatment … this is bogus… there is no guarantee that natural treatments will get you back to health or keep you from dying but i can tell you your chances of a better life are better with natural treatment…under the care of really knowledgeable medical doctors… i hate to see those children receiving only treatments that are cancer causing in themselves as well as destructive to the immune system… i am a nurse and have done extensive research…

If you are truly a nurse, you spent little time actually paying attention to what happens to patients who pursue alternative therapies for cancer. Yes, the standard treatments can be harsh and life threatening, but they are usually less harsh and life-threatening than the disease they are fighting. Nobody says it is a great trade-off, but it is the best there is. To suggest all of those hard-working, compassionate researchers and caregivers are caring for those kids with only profit motives in mind (protecting their business, you know) is insulting, degrading, and frankly ignorant.
People believe what they want to believe; there can still be a right and wrong in any case. Your “extensive research” is wrong. How do I know? Because I know how to interpret the data. This is not arrogance on my part; this is anger at irresponsible remarks that 1) I am sure most folks recognize for what they are, but 2) may influence some uninformed but well-intentioned information seekers who will then do the wrong thing, perhaps make a life-threatening mistake.

I am searching for a black male pug puppy. We found a breeder who offers a 72 hour guarantee against contagious diseases in which during that time period we are suggested to bring our puppy to OUR vet (after being checked by hers) to guarantee that he will be free of contagious diseases.
She does not offer a One or Two year guarantee against ‘genetic’ disorders (eye, breathing, hip, etc. problems). Is that a normal practice?
Also, I need advice on what to ask her to make sure I cover all my bases. She has “excellent references” to provide to me to attest to the general health of her puppies
She says she tries to keep in touch witjh families who buy her pugs and only has about 2 litters per year. She has the parents on premises.

I took a loan to install a new furnace and remove asbestos which was all around the old one. I paid my loan in full and on time until I lost my job due to lack of work and the new job I got is 8K less/yr. I am paying all of my secured loans(mortgage and car in full) and paying the furnace loan people what I can-which at this point is 30/mth. They would like at least 95/mth. but I can’t afford it so they are threatening to sue me and garnish my wages but at the same time they are sending me offers to borrow “additional funds” referencing my account number. Can they do this or will they lose all credibility if they do in fact sue me?
Original monthly payments are: 259/mth.
I have no intention of applying for more credit. Even when my credit was good, I never borrowed more than I could pay- based on the income I had. My point was, would it be feasible to ask the judge if this lender deliberately extends credit to people whom is having trouble paying to then go after their wages?

Sure they can do both. Furthermore, if the company does sue, they don’t need credibility. They will rely on the written contract and the law does not require that a contract be wise to be enforceable. They could be as stupid as a box of rocks and can still sue if you have failed to perform as you agreed,

She is not a reputable breeder. Reputable breeders do not have time limits and have a sort of lifetime “return policy”, regardless of the issue. They consider these “their puppies” for life, and many will check in with you on the condition of the dog from time to time. Good breeders are interested in breed improvement. A 72 hour against contagious diseases is absolutely laughable.
Check out the link, I think it might help you with some of your questions. It’s for Boxers, but really applies to all dogs.
Also, I am a HUGE puggie fan. I’m glad you’re doing some research before diving into a commitment. I’ve never met a Pug I didn’t like, poorly bred or not, but backyard breeders peeve me to no end. Be sure to check out pug rescues too!

Here’s the situation: My spouse and I are first time home buyers. We’re on a budget. The house we want to buy appeals to flippers (no doubt) see below.
-The house has damaged fascia and seepage in the basement because of gutter problems.
-The detached garage has old wall shingles (possibly asbestos) but it would have to be tested.
-It has a leaking faucet in the basement along with a toilet that drains and refills every 5 minutes. (very loud!)
-These are all simple fixes, but depreciates the value of the house, nonetheless. Everything looks outdated but it’s mainly cosmetic. We are not sure about structural integrity until an inspection is done after an offer is accepted.
-The house has been on the market since July last year
Compared to other houses in this city’s market, they are asking too much money for the condition of the house. So we made a offer 12% below their asking price. They advertised the fridge, stove and dishwasher stay. We are not asking them to pay ANY closing costs.
They countered our offer with $ 1k less than their asking with no fridge and stove.
We verbally countered back at 5% below their asking price and ONLY the dishwasher stays. Still not asking them for closing costs. So, when should we walk away? I’m ready to walk away if they do not take this last offer.
Are these people serious?! It seems like they really don’t want to sell their house. I believe they are being very unrealistic for this market (They need to realize not all 100% of sellers get their asking price in a Buyer’s Market). Considering their home’s condition, they need to budge on price! Thoughts?
I have to add that the only updates they have done is a new bathtub in the main bath but the job is done very unprofessionally and will have to be re-done.
Location is about 3 blocks from the tracks. So, not an ideal location. The square footage is about all that is worth paying a little more for (2k square feet total)

I just started a new job in lab testing for a company that treats industrial cooling units, not exactly what I wanted but hey it pays good. I also got an email from an environmental company offering an interview. I really want to be in the environmental field, and the company that contacted me offers more lab services like asbestos, water, mold, etc., stuff that I’m more interested in. My major was environmental studies, by the way.
Should I arrange an interview? I really don’t wanna miss out on an environmental opportunity.

I would say go for the interview. You’ve not invested that much time into the current job, and if the potential job is in the field you wish to devote your life to, I would say the fact that you’ve been offered an interview is serendipity!

Crizotinib, another experimental drug, was also shown to shrink tumours in advanced lung cancer patients. Patients of advanced ovarian cancer have shown good progress in clinical trials of Avastin, a drug that cuts off supply of nutrient-rich blood to the tumours.The life expectancy of men suffering from advanced prostate cancer can be significantly improved by adding radiation to hormone deprivation therapy.
Researchers are able to produce cancer vaccines that are more effective by using a common diabetic’s drug known as Metformin. They discovered that this anti-diabetic drug works better by boosting the number of cancer fighting T-cells.
These T-cells have immunological memory and can fight off a tumour that might occur later.
This discovery could revolutionise current strategies for therapeutic and prophylactic vaccines. Therapeutic vaccines are meant to treat illnesses that have already occurred and can be developed to treat many types of cancer including breast, prostate and lung. Prophylactic vaccines are designed to prevent diseases from developing in healthy people, and can be developed to treat liver and cervical cancers.
In Singapore, scientists have discovered a way to halve chemotherapy costs for advanced breast cancer patients by using a anti-fungal drug meant for dandruff and athlete’s foot infections.Scientists at the Cancer Science Institute of Singapore found that Ketoconazole, the anti-fungal drug, complements chemotherapy treatment as it impedes an enzyme in the body from breaking down a drug used to treat cancer.Chemotherapy treatment uses a drug known as Docetaxel to treat breast, stomach, lung and prostate cancers. Patients undergo a total of four cycles, each cycle once every three weeks and this cost between US00 to 00. Using Docetaxel together with Ketoconazole, the concentration level of the chemotherapy was reduced by 40 per cent and in turn halving the cost while maintaining the desired results.In a separate trial done recently involving 2000 women from nine countries, it was found that a single dose of radiation during surgery was just as effective for breast cancer patients as receiving weeks of radiation.
This new technique, called Targeted Intraoperative Radiotherapy, could save patients many weeks of post-operation radiotherapy that can include 20 or 30 visits to hospital. It also reduces damage to organs such as the heart, lung and oesophagus from radiation exposure. Although this new technique was applied to women with a similar type of breast cancer, researchers were excited by the findings. Hopefully before the end of 2010, there will be more great news for cancer patients. Stay tuned.

Our date to remove subjects is tomorrow (Sunday the 4th) and I can’t find any info online showing me what legal steps we have to take to retract our offer; looking for someone who can point me in the direction of a site with this information.

Read your contract! It likely clearly states that the offer to purchase was contingent upon a satisfactory inspection. The fact that it wasn’t is reason enough to void the contract and have the good faith deposit refunded. In the states this requires notice and a separate form releasing the good faith deposit (signed by all parties).

How about lead? Should we get it inspected for that? Can lead from inside of a home leach into the soil and cause environmental problems outside of the home?
The home has a strong mold/mildew smell. Can this cause any environmental problems in the surrounding areas?
Also, is there a way to inspect for old underground/buried oil tanks? Or is this information readily available by the listing agent?

Dude, your rel estate agent is the first source of answers, they make thousands of dollars just to advise you on these matters. I’d hire one if I don’t have it yet.
In general, asbestos will set you aback several thousands of dollars, I believe you (contractor) must “seal” the house completely before touching it. As for the remaining items, local regulations will dictate what to do; that’s why …HIRE A REAL ESTATE AGENT FAST!!!

A government-funded study released results that showed an annual CT scan can provide earlier lung cancer detection and reduce the risk of heavy smokers dying from the disease by approximately 20 percent. CT scans also offer earlier detection of other lung-related diseases such as mesothelioma, an asbestos-induced pulmonary cancer.
Many lawyers who specialize in asbestos cases have agreed that CT scans can improve a patient’s prognosis through its early detection. The sooner the lung-related diseases such as mesothelioma are diagnosed, the more promising the prognosis and even the possibility of remission. Experts believe that this ability to detect lung disease earlier can save thousands of lives.
Mesothelioma has a long latency period, and those exposed to asbestos may not exhibit symptoms for 30-50 years after exposure. Most often diagnoses are not made until symptoms appear and the disease has progressed to an advanced stage leaving the patient with life-threatening complications. Early detection of mesothelioma can positively influence a patient’s survival by increasing treatment options and improving their quality of life while battling the cancer.
The government-funded study began in 2002 with more than 53,000 men and women who had a history of heavy smoking of more than 15 years. Each participant was randomly assigned to receive three screenings at low doses of CT scans or x-rays. The participants were followed for five years. The study showed that a significantly larger number of deaths occurred among those who have had chest x-rays compared to those who received just CT scans.
Those with diseases such as mesothelioma will benefit from the early diagnosis offered by the CT scan due to the disease’s long latency period that can last up to 50 years. This means people exposed to asbestos will not experience any symptoms until the disease has already progressed, even progress to a later stage in some cases. Early detection offers a better possibility of extending survival expectancy. This article was written December 15, 2010.
