My doctor told me I have an overactive thyroid gland and sent me to the hospital to take radioactive pills for a thyroid scan. Now he’s sending me to a specialist. He said its not cancer but he’s afraid to give me treatment. I’m worried and I don’t know what to expect next.

Surgery: the most effective, the 5 year survival rate is >75%, that means that 3 out of four of those diagnosed with stage I small cell carcinoma will survive 5 years after the diagnosis is made if they have surgery.
Radiation: much less effective than surgery, usually used if surgery isn’t recommended for any reason. It can alleviate some of the distressing symptoms of small cell carcinoma.
Chemotherapy(multiple)/Radiotherapy combination: Somewhat good results, nothing as good as surgery. Alleviates some of the symptoms, the outcome isn’t as good as surgery.
The best available therapy is surgery, it has the best survival rate.
Chemotherapy side effects, you’d have to ask your doctor/someone else.

I bought this house 3 years ago. After we bought it we found out the tile floor in the basement was asbestos, and it is in bad shape. A lot of the tiles are broken, there’s dust everywhere, some are comming up etc. The worst part is that’s right where our home heater air deal is. Well, 3 years later I have no job. I really cannot afford much at all.
Any options other than paying a company to do it? I really doubt I’ll be able to get a loan in my situation, and have spent my savings. I’ve tried research online. One said that putting down adhesive tiles would cover it etc. but I dont think that’ll work with as much damage as that floor has.

Try covering it with linoleum or some other cheap covering. Let the dust settle for a while.

My son is 3 with rhabdomyosarcoma and is on his second plan of chemo for his type of cancer. Doctors have told me that if his body rejects these drugs they don’t know what else they can do for him because of the location of the tumor which in the jaw area. The tumor has grown so big that it has attached to his tongue. He can’t do anything by mouth as far as eat,drink, or swallow his own saliva he also has a treach because the tumor has compressed his left windpipe.HELP PLEASE!!!!

Please ask your doctor about Proton beam therapy . We recently met a Mom and her son who were in Boston for treatment at Mass general. He had a Rhabdomysosarcoma behind his nasal passage and he was being treated with the proton beam.

Can you be more specific? Are you referring to having conventional treatments or the alternative which would be going for herbs, diets, certain foods and vitamin. If the latter is the case, don’t, It’s useless and no herbs, teas, diet, vitamins etc. will take cancer away.
Depending on the stage of cancer will also determine the type of treatments and for how long you will have the treatments. Sometimes surgery is needed but like I said, it depends on the stage of cancer. I don’t know how old you are but a famous actor, Jack Klugman had throat and esophagus cancer. He had surgery, chemo and it was successful. His cancer is gone for some time now. He talks very raspy and gruff, but I’m sure he doesn’t care because he’s alive to tell it. So like most cancer, this can be treated when caught early. As far as I’m concerned, besides not getting any treatments, conventional is proven to be the only way to go. Good luck

We do not have standard treatment for advanced melanoma.

Sorry for this being so long.
Ok people, here is my story and what I think are my only options for living.
I firmly believe that the United States of America’s government is the most greedy and sadistic government on the planet earth. I base my feelings on facts that begin at our inception as a nation, but that truly mature as evil with The Federal Reserve Act of 1913. Since 1913 there have been countless acts of selfish greed our government has perpetrated on the innocent across this planet, but it was 9/11 and then the wars that has brought the evil greed to a head for me. I will not bother to attempt to explain the facts again as the few that listen already know and the rest of you look for catch-phrases to call me, ie…tin-foil hats, whacko, conspiracy nut, etc. Rest assured, I am sick of trying to educate most of you and I am just plain tired of looking at you all. You make me ill, literally.
Here is my real problem though. I have a wonderful wife and four great kids. They love me. Before I was incapacitated as a money earner, I provided them with all sorts of wonderful material things, as well as my love. They appreciated it and have led a pretty good life. The problem is that since I have come to the realization that this country is evil, based on the pure ignorance of the citizenry, I am no longer willing to work here. I refuse to pay the IRS (an illegal organization in itself) and I absolutely puke when I go out into society and overhear or am confronted in a face-to-face conversation with a “War on Terror” believer. My God, if there was one, I want to just puke when I leave the house.
With all that in mind it should be easy to see that I am in prison here in the USA. There is nothing for me here and though I’d love to leave, I already have. I’ve researched alternate countries to live in since 1990 and decided on Costa Rica due to its geographic location and the positives with regard to their Constitution. So I moved my family there in May of 08 and was forced by my wife’s sick mother to have to bring them all back to the USA so they could spend a few months with her before she passed of Breast Cancer just last weekend. The trouble is, I don’t want to go back there, because the Costa Rican people want to be like us in the USA. They too, are ignorant and have no idea that they are trading their freedom away just like we are doing every day when we let obviously malicious lawmakers pass new and more restrictive laws. In 20 years, maximum, Costa Rica will suck just as bad as the USA. Hence, the reason I will never move back there.
Anyway, I’m back in the USA now and I do not see any hope for escape. My family, though they are still cared for by family, would be much better off without me. They have no problems living in this nation of idiots who via their ignorance support the slaughtering of innocent people all over the globe. They just ignore it like you are doing, most likely. They just look for that extra bag of Doritos or another six-pack of Coke, tie up their new Converse sneakers, jump on their cool little mopeds and have the time of their lives. Tomorrow will be just another day for them as at the same exact time, some American soldier kicks down the front door of some unsuspecting and undeserving of such treatment, family, in the middle east. You know those people? The ones who had NOTHING TO DO WITH 9/11. Remember them?
Well, my family may not care about those innocent people dying so you can keep your SUV’s gas tank full or so that you can snuggle on your leather sofa, but I do. And you know what the real kicker to this is? It’s in the fact that I don’t even like Iraqi people. The one’s I’ve met were annoying and damn near impossible to understand. BUT!!!!! They had nothing to do with 9/11 and neither did Afghanistan. Our own greedy government did all of this and I refuse to say they didn’t and to go along with the insane murdering of innocent people because it’s safer for me. I am physically unable to digest the lies and I refuse to feed the machine that commits such atrocities against mankind. I will not work in this country and I will not pay taxes to the IRS. I will NOT feed these greedy evil bastards.
Here are my options as I see it, and after many hours, days, weeks, months and years of thought.
1)Leave my family. I’m sure that my wife will find a workingman who will ignore reality and provide gainful income to support her and the kids. She is very attractive and I would be leaving her in a fairly good position with a paid for house and some vehicles, as well as a respectable chunk of money.
2)Turn EVIL. It would be easy enough to just turn evil like the rest of you. I could bury my head in the sand and play cutthroat business and let the innocent die with the rest of them. Who cares? Just screw everyone, making money the easy way as everyone else seems to do. I’ve been self-employed since I was 15 years old. I’ve
3)Drug myself. This is the most desirable option as I do not want to leave my family and I do not want to cheat people. I’d just as soon get myself a lifetime subscription to Valium Times and zone out until I’m so brain-dead I can carry on conversations with people at the mall or at ballgames or as I campaign for public office.
So there you have it. That is my life and those are my options. While I don’t expect to get any serious responses, if I do, thank you. What I want is to know if there are any other options I am missing. And you must bear in mind that I see the machine as the enemy so any option offered would be preferable if it included a way to get around feeding the machine.

I don’t want to not answer your question, because it’s seriour except I’m 14 and truthfully caqn not be trusted making a life changing decision for someone. I really think you should see a sychatrist yes the goverment is evil – we all know lol, but I think you are taking it to seriously.
