i need the load for corrrugated sheets/asbestos roof/metal sheet roofceiling weight for plywood and timber/hardiflex and metal frames;windward-side wind pressure and leeward-side wind pressure in General SantosCity;and wind pressure formula. These are all based on the 2001 Natonal Structural code of the Philippines.

Answer by daedgewood
You better get the code for the pressures and correct application. Most decent structural handbooks have typical dead loads for materials. If you are doing engineering, you should have the books.

Possible lung cancer !!!! Is there still a chance that this is not cancer?

lung tumors
by Pulmonary Pathology

Question by : Possible lung cancer !!!! Is there still a chance that this is not cancer?
My mom has a lung tumour (not sure how big) but it is too close to her arteries for surgery. She had a cough for 8 weeks, coughed up blood and doctors have removed 1 1/2 litres of fluid from her lungs. They have taken a sample of the fluid and given her a CT scan. Is it possible for a benign lung tumour to cause these symptoms? It will take a few days to get her results and I’m so scared. My mom is 64 years old. Thank you
My mom has never been a smoker

Best answer:

Answer by R K
the CT scan should show how big it is and where it is. you really need to be asking the doctor this.
anyone’s answer here would just be a persons opinion or guess and will probably just up set you further. did your mom ever smoke? and if she did,for how long? that might be an indication of things.

What could be possible cures for Cystic Fibrosis, how would gene therapy work?

Question by Ella: What could be possible cures for Cystic Fibrosis, how would gene therapy work?
besides lung transplants (which aren’t exactly a cure)….what would be possible real cures and how would they work and how close is the medical community to finding a cure?

Best answer:

Answer by doc
to be honest and straight forward we dont have a cure right now . gene therapy is working but is still in the pipeline and is not the 100% cure for that. however not to distract you there is supportive therapy for cystic fibrosis and it has increased the median age of patients and quality of life in patients . not to loose hope and pray that one day we can completly cure it by gene therapy

Is it possible for someone to have stage 4 pancreatic cancer with liver metastasis after?

pancreatic cancer
by MarblePlay

Question by TJTB: Is it possible for someone to have stage 4 pancreatic cancer with liver metastasis after?
after having had an exclusive and complete, state of the art, head to toe medical check up 6 months prior without any red flags.
Is this a turbo charged cancer or did someone drop the ball?
My husband’s friend and collegue has just been diagnosed.
To happy Dawg:
The state of the art physical was one that had the 3D imaging of the entire body. The one that Oprah featured once when she had a physical done with Dr. Mehmet Oz. It’s a $ 6,000 dollar test but is the most sophisticated imaging technology available.
Also, this test is not covered by insurance.

Best answer:

Answer by spreedog133
Sorry to hear this. Very grim news. I doubt that anyone dropped the ball. A billion cancer cells forms a mass only about the size of a marble. It is easy to miss hundreds of millions of cancer cells with all the blood tests, CT scans and MRI’s that we have. Finding the metastatic disease earlier would not have helped anyway since we don’t have good systemic treatment that can cure metastatic pancreatic adenocarcinoma even if found when it is smaller.
It’s unfortunately all too common for people to look for someone to blame when they receive bad news like this.
This person already had spread of disease to the liver when the initial primary tumor was managed – it simply was not detectable. Again – sorry. I saw this situation innumerable times in my 20 years as a cancer specialist. It’s one of the reasons I retired early.

Is it possible that CT abdomen can see lung too?

facts about lung cancer
by AncestralHealthSymposium

Question by help!!!!: Is it possible that CT abdomen can see lung too?
I had some chest pain and shortness of breath. I went to ER. They did chest X-ray, EKG, blood test and did not find anything wrong and my chest X-ray was normal.I am 31 yrs male, Never smoked, Never had second had smoking contact, No family history of anything. I was seeing internet and found that shortness of breath may be from lung cancer. I am worried after reading this. 6 months back i had a CT scan for abdomen and pelvic ( this is due to fact that in my urine test doc found 1-2 RBC/HPF. But test was negative). In this test it was written “The bases of lung are clear”. I read that Chest X-ray is a test of lung cancer but when it is show up in chest x-ray it will be too late. So, CT of chest is much better. My question is :-
1. Is it true about chest X-ray what i described above?
2. Is CT abdomen and pelvic scan view any part of lung?
3. Do i need to see a lung doctor?
4. Do i need to do a CT chest?

Best answer:

Answer by Denisedds
• A chest x-ray is normally the first test done to evaluate the lungs.
• A CT of the abdomen and pelvis only gets the lung bases.
• I don’t know if you need a lung doctor, you didn’t mention a diagnosis, but I’m sure you would have been referred to one if you needed it.
• No you do not need a chest CT.

Possible Lung Cancer & Nodgles?

nodule on lung
by Pulmonary Pathology

Question by eriedolphin37: Possible Lung Cancer & Nodgles?
Hi, my brother had a nodule on his lung show up on a scan 2 months ago. Doctors told him it was so small that they almost missed it. They said not to worry too much that it was probably benign. Yesterday, he was bleeding from the mouth and in his stool. He went to the ER, they said he has pneumonia and on the CT scan it showed the nodule was about the size of a soft ball and looks like it has metastasized which would make it inoperable.

First question is, can a nodgule grow that fast just in 2 months?
Secondly, is pneumonia the last stage before he passes away?

Thanks for your time.

Best answer:

Answer by Spreedog
Sure would help to know his age, his smoking history,
and really – his entire medical history.
I would want to see the x-ray studies also.
This is a question best asked of the doctors caring for your brother.
They know the details.
Without a biopsy telling us the histology – cancer type –
no one can tell you what this is.
There are many types of malignancies which can involve the lungs.
Some of them can grow that much in two months.
Pneumonia can be the final event in older people with advanced malignancies.
I just have the feeling that he is not an old man.
You have blinded us with too little information.
The best people on this site cannot answer this with so few details.

Is it possible for Melanoma Cancer, a skin cancer, to spread to your lungs?

cancer lungs
by kaymoshusband

Question by : Is it possible for Melanoma Cancer, a skin cancer, to spread to your lungs?
My boyfriend is always trying to lie his way back into my life. This time, he has Melanoma that spread to his lungs. Just wanted to know if that was even possible.

Best answer:

Answer by Tommy
Yes. Once Melanoma has metastasized is can spread anywhere throughout the body’s lymphatic system. If it has spread, then it is possible that his cancer is in a more aggressive stage. Melanoma is relatively simple to treat and cure in early stages, however once it begins to spread beyond the initial location it becomes lethal very quickly. If you still care for the guy then I would advise you to offer a friendly shoulder (This doesnt mean you have to date), otherwise you may not get a chance to make amends later.

Is it possible for a biopsy result to be wrong?

lung cancer new treatments
by Old Shoe Woman

Question by : Is it possible for a biopsy result to be wrong?
My mother had lung cancer about 15 years ago and has been in remission since. In 2008, they found a spot in her right upper lobe, did a biopsy which came back benign (scar tissue). Since then, she has moved out of state and got new doctors. 2 months ago, she had a cough, had an x-ray, where they found something in her right upper lobe. The did a CT, then a PET. They wanted to do another biopsy just to be sure. Concerned, I called her old doctors and read the report of the CT scan. They said it sounded like it was the same thing as in 2008. We weren’t worried. Then yesterday, her new doctors said the results came back that there is a cancerous slow-growing encapsulated tumor in the upper right lobe. Is it possible they are wrong? They are also saying she may not be able to have any more radiation because of the amount she had in the past. Are there other treatments that have high success rates for going back into remission?

Best answer:

Answer by always b natural
What you can do is get the all slides from all the biopsies to be reviewed
by a new pathologist. That way you can find out if the opinions concur.
Also, your mom can get a second opinion – both physically, and for
her radiological scans.

Is it possible if anyone doesn’t have Blood Pressure?

Question by Still Alive: Is it possible if anyone doesn’t have Blood Pressure?
My mother is 45 years old. She diagnosed with Lung Cancer (None Small Cell Cancer) a month before. She is now under Chemotherapy treatment. When we took her to the Doctor yesterday, the Nurse tried to check her Blood Pressure but it was so strange that her Blood Pressure could not appear in Blood Pressure Monitor. My elder brother told to the Doctor, he then checked her pulse it was OK but he didn’t describe that why can’t her blood pressure appear on the monitor.

So can anyone explain it that how is it possible? Please give me some information.

Question by xyz1: Is it possible to have 2 different types of cancers simultaneously and not even know it?
I am wondering if it’s possible to have 2 types of cancers simultaneously and not even know it….as weird or as stupid as that sounds…..I suspect I may have early stage throat or lung cancer since I have alot of weird symptoms (see my other question for details) but I also think I might have stomach cancer as well. I get these SEVERE tummy aches all the time (even when I’m not on my period or due to start it for several days) and can’t help but think of what it is. I don’t think it could be endometriosis but what do I know? I’m no doctor, nor can I afford to see one right now, which is why I’m hoping a doctor could answer my question on here. My tummy also hurts alot before AND after I eat, many times. Is this normal? What’s the deal?

If I don’t have any symptoms of Cancer, except for a lump, is it possible its in the early stages?

Question by : If I don’t have any symptoms of Cancer, except for a lump, is it possible its in the early stages?
I am 20 and found a lump in my neck which is about slightly smaller than a dime last December. I went to my doctor and he did some blood work and referred me to another doctor to get additional test this week. He said it could be Lymphoma or leukemia or Lung cancer. Anyway I told him I haven’t been having any symptoms. I’m not fatigued, no night sweats, no persistent cough, no difficulty breathing, nothing. My doctor was even surprised on how I even felt that lump in my neck cause it could have been easily missed. So Anyway if I’m not having an symptoms does that mean it could be in the early stages IF, GOD forbid Its the “C” Word. Right now I’m so shaken up by what he said that I can’t sleep or concentrate. I’m just terrified!!! I’m freaking the FUCK out and that my hands are shaking. I haven’t even told my family the news that I found a lump in my neck and that I went to the doctor today.

Q&A: Possible cures for cancer, Ways to keep it from metastasizing?

metastasized cancer
by girlguyed

Question by : Possible cures for cancer, Ways to keep it from metastasizing?
Okay, it might not seem so real now but we HAVE to start thinking outside of the box if we want to get anywhere with cancer. Okay, curing cancer, well lets start with saying a tumor is found. No signs it has metastasized anywhere else. We give it a destructive virus and it destroys all the cancer cells. Seems impossible right? Wrong. Take Tamiflu it doesn’t cure the flu but keeps it from spreading until the flu has run it’s course and leaves the body. If we did the same with this, we could cure cancer in the future. It kills off the cells, and the rest of your body would (hopefully) be spared because of the medicine. Once the virus has run it’s course, the tumor will probably have been essentially dead. In the same way as keeping the virus from spreading, what if we could keep cancer from Metastasizing to other parts of the body? Don’t bring stupid answers like ” look what happened on I Am Legend ” it’s a movie. If we didn’t think outside the box, how could we have got Penicillin? It comes from Mold, who would have thought Mold could serve such a purpose?
you misread my statement. The tumor gets a virus (quite nasty virus, one that rips and destroys the cells completely) Next time read it thoroughly.

Best answer:

Answer by Quietscherin
It’s an interesting thought but Tumors can’t “run their course”. Yes the body tries to fight tumors but it can’t succeed, especially with malignant ones. Chemo and radiation therapy do basically what it is you’re talking about. They attack fast growing cells, which means the tumor, unfortunately it also attacks healthy fast growing cells. A tumor can’t just die like a virus, it’s made of living tissue with a blood supply and with a blood supply means metastazing, something you’re talking about wouldn’t work. The best bet for treating cancer is to improve on what we already know helps, like chemo and radiation. There are already really high tech meds that are very promising (look up “targeted therapy”) and researchers are already looking up other options like defining each tumors susceptibility towards specific chemo therapies.

To the new statement: How is this more realistic? How would you keep the virus from spreading? A tumor is just out of control tissue, it’s connected to healthy tissue, to a blood and lymph supply. This is why chemo also makes people loose hair and become sick, it spreads throughout the body. You can’t inject something into the tumor without the rest of the body receiving it as well. Researchers are considering viruses but they have to solve the exact problem I’ve stated first

Protein-calorie malnutrition: Causes and incidence
(Professional Guide to Diseases (Eighth Edition))
Both kwashiorkor (edematous PCM) and marasmus (nonedematous PCM) are common in underdeveloped countries and in areas in which dietary amino acid
content is insufficient to satisfy growth requirements. Kwashiorkor typically occurs at about age 1, after infants are weaned from breast milk to a protein-deficient diet of starchy gruels or sugar water, but it can develop at any time during the formative years. Marasmus affects infants ages 6 to 18 months as a result of breast-feeding failure, or a debilitating condition such as chronic diarrhea.
In industrialized countries, PCM may occur secondary to chronic metabolic disease that decreases protein and calorie intake or absorption, or trauma that increases protein and calorie requirements. In the United States, PCM is estimated to occur to some extent in 50% of elderly people in nursing homes. Those who aren’t allowed anything by mouth for an extended period are at high risk of developing PCM. Conditions that increase protein-calorie requirements include severe burns and injuries, systemic infections, and cancer (accounts for the largest group of hospitalized patients with PCM). Conditions that cause defective utilization of nutrients include malabsorption syndrome, short-bowel syndrome, and Crohn’s disease.

Interesting read and yes, you have a valid point there.
I believe when manufactures add or take products out to produce a longer shelf life, we become unwittingly victims.
I also will state that man’s desire to consume these products in large quantities also makes a statement to how well they care about their own bodies and therefore allowing them to become the blimps, encourage laziness and less outgoing as a person.
I find these chemicals are foreign to the human body and instead of helping ones digestion, actually does the opposite. It promotes build up and therefore a blockage to the body operating normally.
There is where the many problems of the body lies in wait for us. Some times quicker then we ever could realize.
It is sad that many of these traits are passed on during breast feeding and actual Development inside a mother’s womb. However i wonder if this wasn’t all a design by human engineering to cause a decrease in the human population or is it just a consequence of a “on Demand” society.
I learned a lot about nutritional values when i searched out about diets for myself. There are some products now that i will never eat again
Great question and deserving my further attention as well as others.

An early cancer with gemini tendencies? Is this possible? how about a relationship between the two?

cancer of the heart
by Christiana Care

Question by Shannyn =D: An early cancer with gemini tendencies? Is this possible? how about a relationship between the two?
My birthday is on June 26, about 7 days away from a gemini, so i was wondering could I be a cancer-gemini? I am sensitive, sentimental, nurtering, loving, and cuddly. BUT I have another personality that is wild just like a gemini. Trates like being wild, wanting to go everywhere all the time, and things like that.
I just met a gemini and already fell in love with him pretty much the first 5 minutes, but the sites are saying when there is romance between a cancer and gemini, the gemini will tend to fool the cancer into thinking they’re a real charmer.
But maybe if I have gemini tendencies it would work?
I’m sick of getting my little cancer heart broken. I’m sick of my cancer boyfriend who is way to cancer for me…especially if I feel like a cancer gemini…
what are your opinions?
How do you get your chart done?
There is most definitely a difference between june and july cancers…My mom, my boyfriend, my grandma are all july cancers…I find them annoying, jealous, and bitchy…with mood swings. They are very home-ey as the cancer is said to be
However I am not, like I said I am wild. Yes I am very smart and when i take personality quizzes I’m witty. I have multiple personalities two geminis and one cancer… and they don’t get along with each other!!! They debate, fight, and confuse each other.
Also, I think they give me a really bad temper…
I get along greatly with my libra and capricorn friends. But the libra is a libra/scorpio cusp.
and actually if you go to this site http://www.novareinna.com/constellation/cancercusp.html I AM A CANCER CUSP!!
what now? :D

You are still a Cancer in your date of facts
My birthday is June 22. I am near to Gemini more then you
If I was born a day or two late I would have been a Gemini
But I am still a Cancer. The only time you can be Cusp
Gemini and Cancer is only you were born between
(June.21-June.22)
You are born June.26
That’s mean you are not cusp because you was not born
on a certain day in June and you are not a Gemini
June.23-June.24 doesn’t count for Cusp dates
You are a Cancer Just face it!
Being a Cancer is not bad a thing
(You are really Feminine and Mother of the Zodiac)
I am born June.22 and a Cusp To be honest I rather be a Cancer then a Gemini in my opinion*
I like their Quality’s better and A lot of Cancer people I met are pretty and handsome.
And that’s your avatar pic see you are a Pretty Cancer
And if you are wondering how come you act like a Gemini
Look at your Birth charts and see where your planet and stars are at and check for you rising and mid-heaven
That will dictated your personality
You probley have alot of GEMINI in you Charts
Because I alot of Aquarius in my Chart and my rising is Aquarius and I act like one
So that will dictate your personality
Besides Horoscope are fake
Just have fun with it
Don’t take it seriously

Have a good day***
Be proud to be yourself

Q&A: Is it possible for cancer to exist without a tumor?

surgery for lung cancer
by Alan Light

Question by Computer Guy: Is it possible for cancer to exist without a tumor?
A friend of mine recently told me she has lung cancer. She then told me that she would be having surgery about a month later. When I asked her if they were going to remove the tumor, she said that there was no tumor. She’s seemed sketchy about things in the past, but if she’s lying about something like this…well, that takes the cake.

Cancer can exist in your lymph nodes, but if there is no tumor, it seems unlikely that a surgery would help without Chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
