I’m 24 and in the last year and a half I have been sick so much it’s rediculous. I keep getting lung infections at LEAST every other month. Last time around it was both lungs. This time I’m not sure because I haven’t gone to the doc yet. For some reason every time I go, the doctor just puts me on more medication instead of trying to figure out a possible cause for it.. he says I have asthma. How would asthma cause me to have lung infections so often? I just don’t understand. I seem to get sick no matter what I do. No matter what I eat, and even when I take vitamins. And the coughing is so bad I break out into fits where I just can’t stop and then something happens where it feels like my throat is closing DURING coughing, so eventually I will cough hard enough that it shuts mid-cough and I can’t exhale my cough at all it just kind of makes the same noise a balloon makes when you pinch the air out of the open end.. and it hurts :/ My inhaler’s packaging says not to use it but so many times a day and to be honest when I use it, it doesn’t help at all and the coughing and collapsing of my throat just gets worse. I would like to know if anyone has/had this problem and has found a cause for it or a way to deal with it? I can’t afford to keep going to the doctor’s like this it has drained my savings in the past and I never caught up.. and it’s no help when the doctor himself is just giving me a z-pack and sending me home everytime like it’s case closed. Thank you ahead of time for any info or help you can provide for me.

It sounds like you may need to see a different doctor. Sometimes lung infections can be caused by a blockage caused by a tumor or foreign object, or perhaps the antibiotics are not the right one for that particular germ. Have you been checked for TB? If you have a growth or Tuberculous lesion, it can cause blockage. Have you been evaluated for things such as an autoimmune disease, or celiac sprue disease or cystic fibrosis?
Recurring lung infections can also be caused by aspiration in people who have swallowing problems or gastroesophageal reflux disease.
It sounds like your problem with exhaling is coming from the swollen airway passages and this could be serious. The infection could be causing your airways to swell more, but also, the swelling from the asthma can also increase your risk for lung infection.
I think you need to see a different doctor such as pulmonologist. Have you had a CT scan of your lungs?
It may save you money to see a specialist such as a pulmonologist or infectious disease specialist since your present physician is not looking into what is causing this problem and is only treating the infection.

I have Section 8. I rent an apartment which is $ 850.00 and is only a one bedroom. My bathroom has black mold in it because the roof has been leeking, its very damp and it stinks. My basement has mold in it and has a horrible odor in it aswell. My friend has told me my basement has abestos. My throat hurts all the time and I have a head ache. I feel this is a health hazzard. The Section 8 inspector is personal friends with the landlord and lets him get away with everything. I feel sick and I think its because of the basement odor coming upstairs and the mold. The roof is done horribly too. I called the health department and he said hes going to send a notice in the mail to the slumlord. The problem is that I feel sick living here. I was wondering if I can sue the landlord because of the mold. Is there a way for me to get out of here some how? stay in a room until the repairs are made? I can’t take this anymore and my throat is killing breathing in this horrible muskey, old, gross odor. Can’t really explain what its like. Theres also a huge hole the landlord left in the front yard that he never filled in from a repair he did in the past. He comes here complaining about pety little things when I’m in here with this mold.. ewww. And the mold is in the bathroom because the roof is leaking and the ceiling is all… yuck. How can I get out of here? Section 8 won’t listen to me and they keep lowing the ammount of rent I can use to move with. This sucks! I gotta get outta here! HELP!!
ok well the inspector isn’t personal friends with the landlord but they get along real well and hes always saying what a “nice guy” he is… when hes a jerk and don’t care that this place is dangerous and uninhabitable.
I had an inspector from the health department here and hes going to send the slumlord a notice, but hes still making me stay in the dump when I want to at least get out of here until the repairs are made. Permantly would be much better though.

ok so we are 13/14 and my girl friend told us before summer she is serriously ill and is in hospital. we’re not mega good friends, but friends enough. so she’s told us all sorts is wrong with her: maybe cancer, black blood cells, lungs, heart etc. and she has now said she’s gonna die and is in hospital until she dies. but the thing is she exagerates one HELL of alot. like apparently seeing someone in her garden, and then she adds ‘oh and he was holding a knife’. then she claims she has a boyfriend but we dont know if its true or not. she said a while a go she has had a vacine to make her better. but isnt a vacine to prevent not cure? it doesnt add up. three of my closest friends believe her and tell me i just ‘havent clicked she will die.’ but its not that. i dont think she will die. i reckon maybe she WAS very ill. then got better and maybe missed attention? but please, i dont know what to do. she doesnt know how i feel. your opinions?

she had a month or two off school but has been back since september. her latest thing is that her appendix could burst at any time but they wont operate on her incase she has a heart attack. but wouldnt they risk that, because if her appendix burts she’s pretty much dead?

You need to get a ‘man2′ (involves a skin scraping)or ‘quantiferon gold’ blood test to prove that you dont have TB.
Results need to be written up in a letter and sign by a doctor
As long as you dont have it anymore, you will be allowed an australian visa.

I’m sorry about your loss. But none of the nagging and complaining and begging you do to your girlfriend to stop will work. If she just started for kicks you may have some luck showing her some pictures of diseased lungs on the internet. But if she’s hooked then the only way she will quit is when she wants to quit. Sorry I’m sure you didn’t want to hear that.

I selling my home in New Jersey and My believe that why is taking so long to sell my house I had about 20 visits for my house. But the problem is that my neighbor house is blightened property. He died and no one was taking care of it. The owner family tore the exterior features up to use it for their own need. The rest of my street looks fine by neigbor next door to me rebuild his house and look nice which is a plus. The blightened property has been like this for 4 years we complain to the township but they did’nt do nothin to demolish it. It has leans over the the property. Standing water, abestos was found in the garage, windows broken, interior gutted, flood basement was leaking oil one time,grass wasn’t cut. All of the neigbors on our street complain to the township but nothin is done to solve this problem. I don’t know what else to do but are property values are affected and this is by waterfront property not for inner city ghetto. What should I do.

That’s not all. The flood basement standing water sept up from the ground and floods my sidewalk by a inch or two. The roofing has about 4 or 5 layers. Birds and animnals fly through the broken windows get trap and die. If it was’nt for me too cut the grass their would be mice and rodents.
Yes will when my neigbor died. It just became abandoned. Leans I mean debts. I got a billed that was to the abandoned home just the water bill $ 750.
Since their was oil leaking in the basement someone smell the odors report it to the Fire Department and Hazmat came to clean it up and was fine $ 3000 to the owner which is now his brother.

Your cat should be fine. First of all, cats rarely have lung problems. Secondly, you have a kitten. Now, I don’t know how old it is, but if it is under five months, it is still growing. A toddler isn’t going to run a marathon. The kitten is just begining to do some good workouts for the lady kittens (just joking). Taking it to the vet is your safest bet. Also, not all cats meom very loudly. In fact, one of my cats can barely meow much at all. Don’t worry. It’ll be OK.

Rear ended in car accident six weeks ago. CT scan showed brain injury, neck & back injury. Have received physical therapy for back & neck injury, but lawyer has not approved to cover costs for Neurological consult & diagnostic testing. Symptoms… headaches, nausea, projectile vomiting daily, generalized acute body pain, pain scale-9, confusion, blurred vision, bags under the eyes with dark circles, unsteady gait, slurred speech, falling, poor cognitive thinking, can’t finish a thought…All symptoms worsen after physical therapy. (dictating to my niece)

I am not sure I am understanding you correctly…. why would you need your attorney’s permission to undergo these tests?? I assure you, such decisions are NOT the attorney’s decisions to make… they are between you and your doctors… and your insurance company. These costs SHOULD be handled by the auto insurance company for the person who HIT you.

I was hospitalized with severe Pneumonia 3 years ago and my lungs have never been the same. I get sick more often. I have breathing problems now. I get more lung infections now than ever before. It is becoming very depressing because I am constatly seeing doctors and taking special medicine, puffers and antibiotics.

The centrifugal pump installed in my factory which sucks water from the tank below suddenly fails to deliver the solution .this happens when the pump is operational.Is it due to air ingress from the stuffing box?we have a conventional type asbestos gland packing .To rule out the usual possibilities i have checked the sucktion pipe and flanges for any leakage.

Centrifugal pumps are prone to problems with entrapped air preventing the flow out of the impeller. I’m not sure if ingress from the stuffing box could provide sufficient leakage to cause this, though you don’t say about the capacity/size of the pump or the mean time between failures.
Usually centrifugal pumps have to remain charged to ensure that they work, as they are not brilliant lifting fluids up if there is a lot of air around the impeller, is the discharge leaking, is there a NRV which isn’t functioning in the line somewhere. Worth rining the manufacturer and asking. Sorry can’t be more help.

Since January I’ve had “exercise dyspnea”, where I get short of breath upon any exertion.
I saw my primary doctor who did all kinds of blood tests, including tests for RA (neg), Alpha1 Antitrypsin (slightly elevated), and various other disorders. She also sent me for a V/Q scan (neg), CT scan (showing a lower right lung nodule of 3mm), MRI (neg), HRCT (awaiting results), stress echo, and a PFT (I’ll list those results below). I also should mention that while walking around with a pulse oximeter on, I dip into the high 70s, low 80s, but it’s noted that I resolve back up to 93+ when I take a deep breath and stop walking.
The results of my PFT are as follows:
FVC – 95%
FEV1 – 93%
FEF25-75 – 86%
PEF – 92%
FIVC – 89%
VC – 95%
TLC – 71%
RV – 28%
RV/TLC% – 13
FRC Dil – 64%
DLCO – 56%
DLCO/VA – 98%
My history: 34y/o, Native American/Cauc., T1DM, hypertension, no enviro allergies, A1c is 6.0. The pulmonologist had me on different asthma meds and Singulair, none worked. Have any ideas??

You may have just damaged your lung somehow, im 18 and when i was 4 i choked on a sweet, now they treat it as asthma, i cant run far, or swim very fat without loosing my breath, ask for an x-ray on your lungs. Good luck.

This is easy. Ignoring leap year effects,
35 years * 365 days/year * 2 packs / day * 20 cigs / pack * 15 minutes /cig = 7665000 minutes = 127750 hours = 5322 days 22 hours = 14 years 212 days 22 hours

But in all honesty you won’t know until it is investigated further…speak to your Dr.
