My mom have been diagnosed with a stage 2 breast cancer. the doctor wants her to undergo a mastectomy ( an operation where the whole breast will be removed). But she is scared to undergo such an operation and wants to opt for some herbal medicines that promises to heal cancer patients.

If people have health problems such as diabetes or other health issues caused by their own actions should the employer really have to pay for them to fix it? I

If for example someone got diabetes because they habitually over eat and refuse to exercise should the consequences of their actions be passed on financially to their employer?

I’m not talking about accidents or problems caused in direct relation to work such as lung problems caused by coal mining.

It seems unfair and presumptuous to assume that the company should pay the insurance for someone else’s negligence.

Won’t the increase demand on employers lead to health discrimination (not hiring someone because they are overweight or smoke)?
Is this happening now?

Yeah, I feel you. I have always believed that people should take responsibility for their own health rather than living un-healthy lifestyles and expecting the health care industry to “fix” them.
Unfortunately, in the current environment, employers and insurance companies cannot discriminate against those with self-destructive lifestyles.

My Grandma was just diagnosed and I am trying to learn as much as possible about this. She has non small cell cancer on her brain and on her lower left lung. She is very scared as anyone would be. She called today and she said she smells fried brains??? I didn’t know what to tell her because I didn’t think that radiation actually burned the insides. Can someone answer this for me, what does radiation actually do? Do you feel it can you smell it, help???

sweety my sis in law went thru all of this and you can burn on the inside and out i had to rub lotion on her head and face it was like a terrible sunburn—any type of cancer in the brain is very nasty so just be there for her bless your heart and try to see her alot lets pray they hurry and come up with a cure my sis in law was given 3 monthes to live and lived for 3 yrs!!there is no known cure for brain cancer—-sad i know dont tell granma that we went and talked to as many people dr-s n all everywhere and there just is not but enjoy her to the max and see if she needs some lotion to relief the burn from the outside my sis in lsws was really bad –GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU IT IS A VERY TOUGH THING TO HAVE TO GO THRU i am here and wish you my best you can reach me at ladysureoneyahoo.com

I went to the doctor a few times this past month for a number of ailments, the doctor said I have anxiety. I had back pain for 2 months now, as I pulled my Rhomboid at the gym, but also neck and chest pains! The pain isn’t that I feel short of breath, but my heart starts to race (even when I’m calm!) and my chest starts to hurt. Not one side, but both sides. It feels like my lungs.

I’m opening a business also, I’m stressed about that. I’m also worried about a lot of things, but generally I’m a calm person. Stress has never been a factor in my life! I deal with stress very well, or at least maybe I thought I did.

Is chest pain really an anxiety symptom like the doctor said? He seemed to be not worried at all about it!

Well they are symptoms of anxiety. Try to monitor your feelings/mood/thoughts when you have an attack. If they happen when your stressed or worked up then it probably is anxieties. Now, if you do not feel that that is really the problem then get a second opinion.

I know for a fact that it causes lung cancer, but since most people are going to get cancer anyway is it really that bad for your health? How much earlier would it really kill you? Is it any worse for your health than being overweight? I don’t smoke, but is all this money and effort that is put into getting young people to not smoke worth it?

When I was 3 I came down with pneumonia. This left my lungs scared. I was pretty healthy after that, but I needed to use an inhaler. When I got older, the inhaler didn’t work so well, so I was prescribed a nebulizer.

A couple of years ago I had a lung emergency. I was using my nebulizer when I got extremely short of breath. It got worse until I couldn’t breath and I passed out. I was rushed to the hospital, and my life was saved.

The doctors convinced me to do a biopsy. When they did it, the collapsed one of my lungs. Normally people can function during the procedure with only 1 lung, but because of the scaring I couldn’t. The doctors were able to get a piece of my lung, but it wasn’t the piece they wanted. It didn’t tell them much useful. I was put on prednisone for 6 months (I know so long), and I feel like it helped. I have been issue free, but I still use my nebulizer for a few minutes about every other day.

What do you think? How likely am I to die early, and how much early?

I know nobody can be certain, but I am looking for somebody with experience to tell me what the odds are. I want the mathematical expectation in your opinion. Or statistics. Statistics would be best.

Sorry to hear about your problem, but i really don’t think anyone on Yahoo Answers can tell you how long you have to live. We are all going to die someday, and none of us know when. The best thing you can do is enjoy your life now. Good Luck & Hugs

It can’t be diagnosed by any of us,but smoking does cause one to cough,and for one reason or another,nights are always worse for coughs Consult with a Pulmonologist to see what might be causing the problem! Best of Luck to you!

Everything now has been figured out except 400 million in funding for Planned Parenthood. Services provided at locations include contraceptives (birth control); emergency contraception; screening for breast, cervical and testicular cancers; pregnancy testing and pregnancy options counseling; testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases; comprehensive sexuality education, menopause treatments; vasectomies, tubal ligations.
In fact PPH does not even provide abortion but services to avoid abortions and in only very extreme cases helps those with abortion services. Only 3% of their budget goes to abortion services. It is estimated that the program saves 650,000 unwanted births a year and 200,000 abortions. Our Military families won’t get paid and won’t have health coverage if this shutdown happens and are being told they won’t be reimbursed even after a shutdown would be over. Congress needs to pull their head out of their you know what.
Regardless if there are still other issues this program should not hold up our budget process and leave our military families without pay and health coverage and ready to strike if the shutdown happens. I have friends in the military and today their check were cut in half in anticipation of the shutdown and are being told they won’t be reimbursed.
Jonathan- The money spent on abortions is 30 million total and that goes to help determine whether an abortion is the right thing for the women and to educate them . Planned parenthood does not perform abortions
PPH keeps us from spending billions later on in social programs from kids who are unwanted, who then become teenage criminals, who then become low life adults in society, and drain our social services.

Ladies? Would you date a really nice guy who happened to have Cystic Fibrosis?

Well, I am 34 years old. I have been a hospice social worker for about the last 8 years caring for those who are dying. Sadly, I had to recently go on disability due to a genetic lung problem called Cystic Fibrosis. My case is very unusual though. Most are diagnosed at birth, I was diagnosed at 18. While I am currently on disability, and have to be hospitalized 2 times per year for a ‘tune up’, my doctor says i should have a pretty normal life span. Now, money-wise, i am doing very well. I have no debt, and bring in $ 3000 per month after taxes thru disability but thru other investments as well. My health is actually slowly getting better and I hope to be working again, at least part time, in the near future. The second thing thought with CF is kids. 99% of men with CF are infertile, but not sterile. This means that i produce sperm but its trapped and cant get out (I know, maybe TMI), so for me to have kids, my wife would have to undergo IVF fertilization. The kid(s) would be ours biologically, but she would have to undergo this procedure. And also, just fyi, for a kid to get CF, not just me, but my wife would also have to be a carrier of the gene. If she is negative, which odds are she would be since CF is rare (only 30000 people in the US have it), the child born would be unaffected by my CF.
Personally, i am a spiritual guy, a loving person and dedicated. I am by no means ‘ugly’ in that I am 5 foot 8, long brown hair, 160 lbs, blue eyes and despite having CF, am in good shape as I swim lots. True be told, i actually think that having a challenge like this allows one to love more, but that is hard to expalin

With all that said, it’s a lot, would you be willing to explore the possibility of something long term with a person like myself. Thank you in advance for reading and answering my question. It means a lot to me.

With infiltrating ductal carcinoma, triple negative, does the agressiveness of the condition warrant an agressive treatment even if DR.’s state that the lesion (6.8 cm circumference) has totally dissapated and that the cancer is ‘gone’? Pet/CT scans, MRI, and recent mamography all suggest that the cancerous lesion that I battled with this past Summer has now been resolved. My question, considering the agressiveness of the tumor, should I continue to be agressive in treatment, or as is an option, forgo a prophylactic intervention and immediate vs. delayed reconstruction in exchange for a breast-conserving surgery and a watchful eye every six months for possible recurrence?

Any thoughts?

It is much like the pouring of red wine into the fibers of an existing carpet: the stain can go as deep as the fibers, the padding and down to the floorboards themselves, thus the term ‘infiltrating’… also with a cancer that large, radiation and further chemo treatments cannot be ruled out nor can possible SNB and/or axillary lymphnode dissection.

Hi. Recently bought this item on Amazon. I bought it just to have it in case and also for Halloween. It looks sick, fits great with its adjustable straps and makes a GREAT seal. Anyway, it came with a green 40mm Nato Filter. It SAID in the product description that it would provide NBC protection. Although I doubt this. My questions for anyone who has this or knows about it:

1. Does the NATO filter it came with REALLY provide NBC protection?
2. How long would the filter last?
3. Once opened, can it be resealed and bagged to preserve it?
4. If not to the above Q’s, wheres a good (40mm) filter I can get that is (Obviously) compatible with this mask?
5.It came with a drinking tube, how is that safe? The gas would go in the tube and to your mouth/nose.
***6. Since it was made in the 80′s, is the mask or filter made with any harmful chemicals or substances like asbestos?***

Thaks everyone! Especially Wraeth! Anyone know where I can get an NBC suit to go with it. I was aware you need the suit too, I was just wondering if it really filtered that stuff. Thanks! ^_^

usually the tube would go into a canteen with an airtight seal. your link did not work for me.
