I am in need of some serious advise. I am an adult woman in need of food. I have been collecting food stamps for awhile now..because I have been out of work for a long.. time. My name is only on my lease. My mom who has lung cancer lives with me. I am only on my food stamps. She buys her own food. I did recently get a part time job on some weekends and one week day night with a Catering company. I start in May. I am going to get a pretty good wage per hour. But.. will probably be able to still collect because of the lack of hours. I had to take whatever I could get at this point and because I care for my mother in the day and take her to her appointments for her cancer.
Today.. I get a knock on the back door. It was a woman from the Human Services department. She asked if my mother lives here. (Of course I said no) I don’t want to go to jail or prison.. but we need food. My mothers money will be going for chemo treatments which will be the price of a new fully loaded Hummer when all is said and done. This is life. As with the economy.
I need to know what you would do…Or what I can do.. on my behalf.. to save my butt here. I am trying to be a good daughter and have been doing all the right things here. I don’t want problems. I wish I never answered the door but I did. The woman for some strange reason did not ask who I was/my name. She said she heard or has down that she lives with her daughter. My mother goes sometimes.. to the hospital or clinic in town to see a doctor. That is the only place she told she lives with me. Who would think.. you can’t even or should withhold whom you live with these days. But.. you do.
My moms mail comes here. I thought about getting a PO Box .. but that will cost 60-90.00 a year. Should we do this?
Because of my moms condition.. I can’t be moving and we can’t afford to be without food. My mom worked in her life 25 years for a factory. But.. as I said chemo is threw the roof expensive. I spoke with people who spent 30 thousand and another 100,000.00 on it. That is the food money right there. We have to live. I am so.. upset. Please .. Help Us.

There is very little that isn’t known about people in the system. All sorts of information is linked to people’s social security numbers, and the woman who came to your door really was on the right track. When dealing with agencies that provide services to low income people, it is best to be honest, as the downside can have severe consequences. You may be better off all around if you reveal your situation to whatever agency or agencies are active in your case. You might receive more benefits once your situation can be examined in a new light. Also, don’t threaten people with deletion. It isn’t necessary or polite.

I’ve been mining out in the desert, and have been digging up bizarre ugly crystals that resemble very short chunks or wide slabs of tourmaline. Some of this crystal stuff is in tiny glass like sheets that you can see through. However, some of it looks like warped dirty ice, others look like garbage asbestos. I came upon some veins of the stuff, and it easily crumbles into little short fibers. A small amount of rocks had some of these crystals embedded in them, and those rocks are light beige and smooth and feel soft, but when washed with water, do not melt away. A few pieces are like very thin burnt pieces of dry thick crepe (not at all round in shape though), only without a burnt look, but rather a look of mud. And they are covered in tiny protruding very stubby crooked finger-like structures (nothing beautiful). I also noticed that these crystals are poorer the deeper I go into the soil. I eventually got to thick clay, and pockets of this crystal stuff were in it, and as I said, they were poor from then on. What is this dirty ice stuff, and is there any value to it other than as specimens of mineral, and is anything more valuable usually found with this stuff? I’m hoping if I go deep enough I’ll come upon gem material, rather than this apparent pretty junk. This stuff is around an area where a volcano apparently exploded, because there are lava rocks everywhere, ugly ones that sometimes fall apart.

Great idea! I have done a few fundraisers and found that bake sales, car washes, and taking part in walks work well. You could check out the American Cancer Society for more information on fundraising, or info about walks in your area. As for names for your org- how about something like Cancer Crusaders? Best of luck on your efforts, you are doing a great thing!

My husband’s grandfather lived to be 93 “chewing” (he would put this thing in his mouth & spit, not sure what it really is but I know it’s bad.) smoking, & drinking pepsi & beer every night. Whereas I know there are people that could just smoke cigarettes for a few years and die a horrible death. Why is this?

My father smoked in his early 20s, but he gave it up to become healthier. Then, at 48 he passed away from colon cancer. If you ask anyone that knew him they’d tell you what a wonderful man he was. There’s no explaining it. Bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to bad people…it sucks, but hey that’s life, right?

Everything now-a-days causes cancer, but there is a proven association with obesity and cancer. Some types of food has proven to increase your chances of getting cancer for example, bar-b-q, salted meats. just try to eat things that are good for you like fruits and vegetables and stay away from fatty foods.

And don’t say that medical marijuana is a gimmick because I know that it has many healthy effects on the body. 1. It is used in cancer patients to increase appetite due to chemo therapy. That is a fact, weed simply makes people hungry. 2. It is a treatment for glaucoma. Marijuana has been proven to decrease interocular pressure in the eye by up to 45 percent. (I would much rather have people smoke weed than go blind because of glaucoma). This was concluded by different studies in universities throughout the U.S. 3. Marijuana treats AIDS patients not only to increase appetite but also to make the patient feel better. This is because the plant has known euphoriants in trace amounts. These euphoriants have been rendered harmless and are in amounts of less than 0.0002 % of the chemical make up of the plant. 4. The plant has been used in anorexic patients to increase appetite; therefore, it promotes healthier living. 5. Anti anxiety is another use of herb. When smoked in small amounts it remedies symptoms. 6. It is a major treatment for pain. In a study done by multiple universities in California and Boston professors have allowed patients the choice to take Marinol to help relieve pain. Approximately forty patients participated in the study. The study compared the use of smoked marijuana and codein (as you know an opiate derived from the papaver somniferum, or poppy plant). The study showed 20 mg of marinol were comparable to 60 mg of codein for pain relieve symptoms. In my opinion marijuana is much safer because it does not have the risk of dependancy of codein. (opiates can be extremely addictive). 7. It is also a mild anti depressant because if the euphoriants it posseses. But it does not run the risk of dependancy, and overdose that drugs like Prozac, Zoloft and others have. Also, these other drugs may increase the rate of suicide in children under eighteen and even in few adults. Many of these drugs have later shown to have unwanted, harmful side effects such as heart attack and cancer.

– Marijuana is not a gateway drug. People just choose to use marijuana before they try other
drugs because it is the easy to find. Many weed smokers only use weed. That is why it is the
most popular illegal substance and not cocain, and meth.
– Marinol only contains THC one of the pyscoactives in weed it does not contain the other helpful
substances
– Im sure marijuana does have some mild effects on small amounts of people, but so do all drugs.
– Regardless of if you believe pot is good or bad people will do it anyway. If it is legal then people
it will be safe to use because it will be well regulated. People who wish to smoke it will grow it;
hence, there will be no chance that the marijuana will be laced with anything else.
– It has not been illegal until the 1930s but people have used it since before Christ for ship sails,
clothing, paper, rope, food (the have a very pure source of protein).
– The actual smoke can be bad for the lungs, but it is not as bad as cigarette smoke. Tobacco
produces more tar, and tobacco smokers inhale much more smoke simply because they smoke
more than a pot smoker.
– It has so many benifits, yet the FDA does not want us to know about these because the
government would not be able to sell all of their drugs. How is that for government health care?
– That is why every federal govnt. study on the issue is fake.

Stop smoking. Having him take something is not a good solution. It’s hard to quit, but keep trying. Many people try multiple times before they finally quit for good.
A lot of the damage has already been done, but he would still benefit a lot from not smoking.

Can you be more specific? Are you referring to having conventional treatments or the alternative which would be going for herbs, diets, certain foods and vitamin. If the latter is the case, don’t, It’s useless and no herbs, teas, diet, vitamins etc. will take cancer away.
Depending on the stage of cancer will also determine the type of treatments and for how long you will have the treatments. Sometimes surgery is needed but like I said, it depends on the stage of cancer. I don’t know how old you are but a famous actor, Jack Klugman had throat and esophagus cancer. He had surgery, chemo and it was successful. His cancer is gone for some time now. He talks very raspy and gruff, but I’m sure he doesn’t care because he’s alive to tell it. So like most cancer, this can be treated when caught early. As far as I’m concerned, besides not getting any treatments, conventional is proven to be the only way to go. Good luck

Apparently, the folks at the welfare office have a problem with the fact that I can’t remember all of my kids names, or exactly how many kids I have, or where I last left them, for that matter. What in the heck do they expect, for me to watch them every single second of the day?! I know they go to school, or something, some of the time; geez, I’m not a radar tracking device! I say that if they want me to know where they are every single waking moment they shouldn’t have made me stop tethering them in the yard! Can you other moms out there relate?
Personally, I think the woman I spoke with was threatened by my education; I have a masters degree in flour & salt dough sculpture, which is a highly specialized field of study! My years at the Sorbonne have made me the best darn dough sculptress out there! I started out at the Ecole Normale, but was distressed to learn they would want me to teach in France after that, so it was off to the Sorbonne and dough sculpture for me! Thank God, too! These days, my erotic dough sculptures that I make from free government flour and salt, and sell at naughty lady parties under the table, are the source of my cig and beer money. Did you know that you can’t buy cigarettes and beer with food stamps?! I kid you not!
I think that if the welfare department looks at me without their jealousy for my refinement and obvious superior breeding, they will see what a great mom I am! Hell, I let my kids go trick-or-treating every night, and I take exception to the comment from the social worker that they were only going door-to-door begging to get something to eat. This house is loaded with food! Jesus, the kids can gnaw on any number of dough sculptures if they’re that hungry, for cryin’ out loud!
The teachers at their school are no joy, either. At the last parent/teacher conference, the woman started off the meeting with, “Miss Skankstein, please don’t smoke.” Frickin’ hell!!!! By the way, she also lectured me on my frequent use of the term, “frickin’ hell”, as in, “Why in the frickin’ hell can’t I smoke? The damn asbestos in the school walls are killin’ ya faster than my nicotine!” The teacher obviously was one of those weird tree-hugger/health nut types, who like to boss everyone else around.
So you see, being a mother these days is a difficult, thankless job. I would lament more the lack of appreciation out there, but it’s time for my soaps. Can some of you moms out there tell me how you deal with all the day to day aggravation of being a devoted parent?

first of all what kind of cancer?? you dont get symptoms usually with cancer which is exactly why it is sooo hard to catch in time to cure. the only way you will know if cancer has spread is if you get a pet scan or ct scan done. Its so hard to tell if it spreads because it is virtually painless

Technically all methods fail at least some of the time, at least all the ones I know of. Orthodox therapies like surgery, radiation and chemotherapy don’t have 100% cure rates. Many alternative therapies boast to have higher survival rates than standard, but in all honesty they rarely are tested at or near an equal level with the orthodox methods, so it’s very hard to say exactly what is successful and what is failure.
To list a few theories that orthodox medicine assumes to be failures, rightly or wrongly, I’ll mention laetrile or amygdalin, a bitter-tasting chemical found in apricot kernels, drupe pits, and in smaller amounts in other plants. This is believed by some to be an essential vitamin (designated vitamin B17) as a necessary molecule the body requires to keep the natural healing processes out of control so they do not become cancerous, and that cancer itself is a symptom of a deficiency of this vitamin. Foods containing amygdalin have been all but eliminated from most diets in people of the 1st world because of its bitter taste, so cancer rates have increased in large part because of this, and that eating a vegetarian diet including plants containing B17 will virtually assure that cancer will be prevented, and if present, either eliminated or arrested in growth so long as the diet is maintained.
Another therapy used was the use of mega-doses of Vitamin C, fed to patience intravenously in amounts between one hundred and one thousand times the daily recommended amount. Also hydrazine sulfate was used as well, though I forget the details on that.

Some cancers have a genetic element and some don’t. Brain cancer isn’t genetic. Breast cancer can be – but just because your mother has it, it doesn’t mean you definitely will. You should make sure you do your self breast exam and report any lumps as soon as possible. Try not to worry.
