I no longer smoke weed and have not for quite a while but why do they keep lying about it saying that it is bad for you etc.? It has been proven and have read articles on FOX, CNN, ABC, etc that studies have been done and it does not cause cancer of the lungs or anything else. The benefits far outweigh the negatives. I agree that people should not drive while high but to use it at your own house is nobodys business. I thought we were told America was the land of the free. I have been to China and other countries and do not see this country being any freer than most others.
deebee, I am an American and a Republican and I am just sadened that we proclaim this as the land of the free when it really is not. Is it wrong to speak the truth? I will be going to China again soon and if you think that China is a backwards country, think again. Their infrastructure including their airports, trains etc. are about 50 years ahead of ours. Again, I am an American and probably always will be one. It is just sad that we pretend to be free when we really are not what we claim to be.

Hummm – chiropractor for that one. Sounds like something they could straighten out really quick – and it’s kind of fun too. If youi were lifting weights you could have a rib slip off it’s position by your spine. Or you have an ongoing cramp in a muscle. There’s probably 5000 muscles going every whichway in the upper back. If one gets crampy, it can be a disturbance in your back which the chiropractor can snap out.

It is highly unlikely and I have never heard of such safes in twenty years of asbestos work. It is probably just old cotton or fiberglass packing. To be 100% safe, take a quarter size piece of the material to a local lab and have it tested. It will be $ 15-$ 25.

Additional info – if the safe was asbestos, it would have fibrous hair-like material coming out, not crumbly. Testing is the only sure way to tell. Even if you find a reference that it is not, you should still have it tested. I have seen firedoors mismarked.

I know. I also know that only 1% of smokers actually die of lung cancer, but they want people to believe that everyone who smokes will die of it. And when people like Dana Reeves, wife of the late actor Christopher Reeves, die of lung cancer, they don’t say a god damned word about them because she never smoked, never lived around anyone who smoked and lived in the clean air of the mountains and theres absolutely no connection the anti-smoking Nazi’s can make to cigarette smoking. Im supppose to be in good shape..perfect weight,good blood pressure and clear lungs and strong heart.I have been checked by two doctors and found to be ok.I don’t seem to have the symptoms of heart disease but my heart beats funny sometimes.or seems to.I spoke to a nurse that says this is normal.I worry when my heart beats too fast when doing things and then I worry when it seems slow and sometimes I worry when it just doesn’t feel right or sounds right .. Is there anyway for sure you can definitely tell there is something wrong.Today I woke hearing the beat sound weird.I got worried and have felt scared all day ,,and couldn’t get my mind off of it.It even gave me stomach acid that caused it to skip beats thus adding worry..Is there really anyway for you to know for sure other than the doctor if you are having heart problems or just feeling anxious..Could anxiety be a tip off that you are going to have a heart attack?

Tachycardia is a condition where your heart rate speeds up when you are anxious and stressed. This is normal, most people have it. If you are truely concerned, get an EKG done. (Electrocardiograph) This does a tracing of your heart and it’s rhythym, if it’s normal, then you should be fine. Are you over-weight? How is your diet? Your age, weight and the amount of exercise all factor into a healthy heart regime.

Do you know if you have lung cancer?? Chest pains can be caused by lots of things – spraining an intracoastal muscle in your chest, angina, heart problems, lots of things. IF you have lung cancer, the treatment you get for it will depend on what KIND of cancer it is. Cancer isn’t a type of cell, it is a term for any group of fast growing cells and depending on what kind of cancer it is (squamous cell, large cell, etc) and where it is on your body and whether it has spread, the drs will decide what is the best way to treat it. If your chest pain comes with exertion (pushing yourself hard physically) it could be angina, but you really should relax, go to a dr and get a check up including a chest xray, and more likely than not, it is not as bad as you think and taking care of it is better than ignoring it.

13 years ago I gave birth to my daughter,but sadly after 13 days due to complications she died.Her name was after my mum Emily.My mom is still alive but fighting lung cancer and would like my younger sister to name her daughter Emily and to keep the name alive.She asked me how I felt about using the name but I struggle with this.My gut says I would like it to remain my daughters name.My hubby says if it is your mums request then it would only be fitting to agree and that it wont have our surname. It is only in the last couple of years I have come to terms with her death and now it is all dragged up again .My mum also had asked to use Emily’s grave which I would be honored with.She now realizes I’m struggling with this and said maybe you feel we are taking everything of Emily’s Her name Her grave.I am so confused. I understand for my Mum it would be nice to see her name carried on.

I am three months pregnant with my second child and yesterday morning my mother called me and tearfully told me she has been diagnosed with late-stage small cell lung cancer and likely had less than a year to live. She is 59 and yes, she has been a heavy smoker all her adult life. Still, she is very healthy and the news came as a complete shock; just two weeks ago she was on a ski vacation with her boyfriend. I have no idea what to do. I want to be strong for my mother but I don’t know if i have it in me. My husband works out of the country as a contractor and while he can come home at some point he can’t be here for long as we need the income. I have a 3 year old son who loves his grandma more than anything and I haven’t yet decided how to explain this situation to him. We moved to a new state less than two years ago and I don’t have many close friends here. I am a teacher in an inner-city charter school and though I love my job and the kids it is going to be very hard for me to be a strong authority figure while I deal with this, especially with the pregnancy. I know this is a very hard situation and frankly, I’m not expecting answers. I just want feedback from someone who doesn’t know me personally, as I will have to spend the next several weeks explaining it to friends and relatives. Yesterday I felt very spiritually strong despite the shock but today I haven’t stopped crying all day and I missed work. My mom is the only parent I have ever had in my life and I never thought this would happen. Does anyone have any advice? I’m sorry to vent all this but I hope someone will have some inspiring words.

I don’t know if I have any useful advice, but I found out recenty my Dad is near the end of his life too. It’s cancer, but not lung cancer, and he’s in his 80′s. Your mom is a bit younger than me so I do find it shocking when someone around my age is facing their own mortality.
I guess what I can offer you as advice is to give you permission to not be a complete pillar of strength. I find it difficult to visit Dad in the hospital, and see him so frail, and so unaware of his surroundings, or his situation. You seem to have taken on the belief that you need to be a strong person. But the situation doesn’t actually require you to be that person all of the time. It’s OK to cry, and to be sad, and to be afraid. It’s expected in this situation, and I would defy anyone who dares to stand up and say that you don’t deserve the right to be weak if you need to be.
This is a time when you need to be surrounded by family, your support system, and your husband. But it sounds like you have been isolated from most of that. You can only be as strong as the people around you, but if they aren’t there. Well start making some demands if you have to.
You are three months pregnant, just found out your mom is ill, and your husband is off out of the country.
No one will blame you if you take a moment to cry.

I’ve said in other Q&A that my husband was diagnosed with Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer that went to his brain and kidney. They found it when he started getting bad headaches that wouldn’t stop. He was given 6 months if he was lucky to live. Well that has been almost 3 years ago. Here is my question. Someone I know has a husband diagnosed with the same cancer, treated the same and this one hasn’t spread anywhere however he is going fast. She seems angry at me because my husband is surviving his death sentence. What can I do or say in my situation? I’m being supportive and not talking about my husband and his success. I am focused on her life when visiting.
For GG: She says Why is your husband surviving and mine isn’t.? It’s not fair. She points out that they have the same thing and that my husbands was worse than her husbands because his isn’t anywhere else.

Sometimes it doesn’t. There’s not so much of a problem with food per se, but liquids often “go down the wrong track”. The answer to your question is, the body as a built-in reflex that channels food/air down the proper tubes.
It’s similar to how a whale of dolphin survive in water. They have blow holes that close off automatically to prevent water from entering.

With all cancers it really depends on what stage the cancer is at. All I can say is talk to the doctor and see what the options are. But they are usually surgery, radiation, chemo or a combo. My mother was diagnosed with terminal lung cancer at the end of April and we really didn’t know if she was going to make it out of the hospital. Everything they have been doing for her is to help make her more comfortable and buy her a little time. She can’t have surgery because placement. Also hers has mmetastasized to her brain.
we really don’t know how much longer she has nor do the doctors. All I can say if the person you love is terminal, just love them everyday and be thankful for their presence in you life at this time.

We have 2 spots on her right lung diagnosed as squmous cell. I need to have an idea of how well the cancer will shrink before surgery. Hopefully alot. Any experience with this? Preliminary ct scans show no spreading yet. PET scan to be analyzed later. MRI of the brain clean.

I don’t know.
I can tell you this: Lung cancer has one of the worst prognosis there is. If the patient is still alive in 5 years after commencing therapy, even if they have been in a coma and are not expected to reawaken, that is called a success story, as long as they are cancer free. That is a fact.
You should look into Gerson therapy, Budwig therapy, alkaline diet, filtering both drinking and bath water, raw 100percent vegan diet, hyperthermia treatments. At the very least, you should research what the Burzynski clinic has to offer. They do free clinical trials, and take some types of medical insurance. They are more conventional than the other therapies I mention, but without the terrible damage and life threatening sickness caused by chemotherapy. (Chemotherapy itself may kill more people than cancer. Not many people know that, but chem is very dangerous.)
Burzynski clinic has real doctors and nurses, and I have read many good thing about them. Please, if you do not look into the other things I mention, then at least look into what Burzynski clinic has to offer. Here is a link:

Has the doctor given a diagnosis of lung cancer or was it you? If she hasn’t been seen by a doctor for a diagnosis, then she should be because there is more going on here than a person can diagnose over the internet.
Forgetfulness is something seen with diabetics -especially if they are brittle diabetics. Talking goofy can happen if the blood sugar is out of kilter or if there is some idiosyncratic reaction to the insulin.
If it is cancer, it is hard to say if it can spread this quickly.

Any chronic inflammatory process predisposes to cancer.

yep, breast cancer is genetic, not caused my diet. Luckily things have progressed enough that early detection is the way to beat it. My mother died of it 10/16/76, five days after her 40th birthday. She only had the first stage of breast cancer. they had her on chemotherapy, radiation, and you name it.

In March 2010, Gisela and I shaved our heads at a St. Baldrick’s event to raise money for cancer research. Gisela was able to cut most of her hair just before the shaving (which explains her scraggliness) to donate it to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths, who provide free wigs to cancer patients. My hair was obviously too short to donate. In the course of the week before the event, Gisela and I raised over 00. It is an amazing experience and I would recommend it to anyone willing to lose their hair. Thank you Kate for such a terrific video!
