Lung cancer in children- what is the survival rate?
Question by wmt: Lung cancer in children- what is the survival rate?
My cousin (13 year old) was found with 4 tumours in the lungs and was diagnosed with lung cancer. I know most lung cancer in children is a result of metastasis from a primary site. The doctors haven’t commented on her chances of survival or the stage of cancer (just that it hasn’t spread to the bones), she’s currently in ICU with percardial effusion and she just started chemo. I was wondering if the survival rates are high for invasive lung cancer in children, in general and in this particular case?

all depends on the stage … higher the stage the less chance of survival

Q&A: my nana has kidney cancer that spread to the lung – survival chances?
Question by Unknown: my nana has kidney cancer that spread to the lung – survival chances?
hello..my nana was diagnosed with renal cell kidney cancer about 6 months ago..the kidney got removed and it was also mentioned that there was a small dot on the lung but they didnt no what it was. since the operation to remove the kidney about 3 month ago she has felt 100% fit and healthy just as before she got the cancer. We all thought it was pretty much over with until today when she had a check up about the lung and several spots have been found (which was a suprise since she is feeling so good). When i read on the internet it would class it as stage 4 which is weird because she is fine and no doctors or any1 have mentioned that shes likely to die because on the internet it says 80%+ people die within 5 years once it spreads to another organ.
would my nana still be in this group? Or would she have a much better chance since she is so healthy at the moment and the main tumor on the kidney is already gone?
any help or thoughts are apreciated
thanks.
Best answer:
Answer by Laurent
I’m very, very sorry. Yes it would seem that the kidney cancer has spread to the lung which, as you point out, would classify it as Stage IV renal cell carcinoma. This is considered “not curable” by the medical oncology community and it is almost certainly a terminal diagnosis. It makes no difference that the tumor on the kidney is gone, it has moved on to other major organs. Let me offer some advice please. Spend as much time as you can with her, and get to know her well. Celebrate her life, travel if you can, throw parties and make her know that you love her. Soon she will not feel like traveling or partying or even getting out of bed. Please, cherish every moment you have with her.

Generally, stage 4 means cancer has travelled from lymph nodes to other organs. So chances of survival are quite dim.

Q&A: What is the survival rate for metastatic thyroid cancer of the lungs?
Question by D-Bag: What is the survival rate for metastatic thyroid cancer of the lungs?
Assuming that the Cancer hasn’t spread to any other organs, and is removed entirely from the Thyroid?
Just to throw it out there (I’m not looking for sympathy).. My father died of pancreatic cancer a month ago. One week later, my little sister got the news of her metastatic thyroid/lung cancer. About three days ago, my best friend (like a brother) went in for an MRI, and they found a tumor on his brain. Like, isn’t this incredible? All bullshit a side, what are the odds of this happening? Is it possible that I am the ONLY person on this planet to have 3 LOVED ones die from, and get cancer in a 30 day period?

My brother ans I were diagnosed with different types of cancer within 2 weeks of each other and went through treatment at the same time. We both had friends going through it. It is not as uncommon as you might think.

What are the chances of survival for a loved one with Bone marrow cancer?
Question by Vanessa: What are the chances of survival for a loved one with Bone marrow cancer?
Originally it was thought to be a broken hip then later blood work and a diagnosis of Multiple Myleoma. Chemotherapy has started and I know it will cause him to be tired and have flu like symptoms for some time. He is also having pain in the knee on the same side as the bad hip, how quickly does the cancer spread?
Best answer:
Answer by madsk8r_hotstuff
hello
during chemotherapy treatments i suggest you boost your immune system otherwise your chances are dramatically reduced. Chemotherapy is toxic and in some cases kills people quicker than cancer. But don’t worry, this only happens because chemotherapy kills good cells as well, so then if the cancer comes back you can’t fight it. But this can be prevented by eating healthy, getting vitamin d, and sleeping. I recommend immune boosting supplements. I also recommend cancer fighting supplements and food. eg. Brocolli, Apples, Brussel Sprouts, Zeolite, Oxygen Supplements, Probiotics etc.
I advise you to go on CancerFightingStrategies. (website)
Good luck!

ill pray for her
idk about the whole story but a few years ago my grandpa had skin cancer i think (idk what kind i think it was skin though) and he healed from it.
also, in my church this one lady had lung cancer and we prayed for her a lot, she went back to the doctors and they couldnt find the tumor and it was completely healed. so i will definately be praying for her, and i heard someone with a brain tumor, it shrunk a lot. it was too big to operate on and then it shrunk so they could get it out.
hope it all works out for her.
