Q&A: Can my grandfather survive his cancer?
Question by emma.: Can my grandfather survive his cancer?
I’ve heard many cases of people surviving cancer, although it’s not very likely.
My grandfather has lung cancer from smoking when he was younger. He let it go for a little although he went to chemo here and there. About 3 months ago he was diagnosed with ’7 months to live’.
The next week he was diagnosed with only as week left because they say his cancer has gotten worse.
But it’s been over 2 months and he seems so strong and healthy and happy.
He’s such a fighter and he’s been through so much like strokes, etc.
I love him a lot and I wish he could last a lot longer =( Do you think he will?
What are his chances? I need some good news =(

How long can a person with stage 4 lymphatic survive with no treatment? The cancer was also on the skin.?
Question by : How long can a person with stage 4 lymphatic survive with no treatment? The cancer was also on the skin.?
It is also spreading to other locations. I want a definite answer, not any B.S. about living with hope. The docs said 6 months at the time of diagnosis. It has been 3, and the person is starting to get sick everyday really bad. Please a real answer so I can try to mentally prepare myself. Thanks in advance.
The start of the whole problem was colon cancer, that my mother-in-law never got treated. then there was a spot on her foot. It grew, and grew. She didn’t have it checked out because my Father-in-law was sick with pancreatic cancer and dying, and didn’t want to worry him any. I took her to the appointment when she found out about the colon rectal stuff. After my father-in-law passed away, My wife and I finally got her to go to the docs. They told her the spot on her foot was nothing, and she didn’t do anything about it. She went to her primary a couple months later because the spot got bigger, went to a specialist, and found out that it was cancer. Did blood work and found out that it was also in her lymph nodes. She had surgical removal of the melanoma on her foot. they did a graft from her side. It didn’t take. In fact it turned black and got all infected and looked like a zombie bit her foot. They did another surgery where they took the vein from her arm, put it in her foot. Skin f

Can you get shot in the lung and survive?
Question by Myth Magic: Can you get shot in the lung and survive?
I am writing a novel and one of the characters is shot in the lung by a hunting gun. You know, like those guns people use to hunt deer and stuff. Is it possible that they can survive, no matter how small the chance is? And what happens to the person? Like, do they need to be on an oxygen machine or do they require some special medication? And also, what happens to the person at the moment that they’re shot? Do they immediately fall to the floor, or do they stagger and then fall? Can they still breathe? How much time do they have to get to the hospital before they die? And any other information would be awesome. Thanks!

Answer by Gracinda
When you are shot in the lung, that portion will collapse, as the negative pressure gradient is lost.
Whether just that lobe or the entire lung collapses depends on how much of the lung is involved.
If it is just ONE side that is involved, then the other side will continue to work. If BOTH sides are collapsed, then no air will be able to move and the person will develop respiratory failure immediately, until the lungs are re-inflated & a chest tube(s) are inserted.
Pneumonia will be the determining factor for whether the person ultimately lives, usually.
And if the person smokes beforehand; they have an uphill battle, as their lungs are crap already, and now they are injured, and ill from the post-traumatic pneumonia that inevitably develops.

Will little boy with stomach cancer survive?
Question by Sweet Serenity: Will little boy with stomach cancer survive?
My friend’s son has been diagnosed with stomach cancer! The boy is 6 years old, and is now being treated. Apparently stomach cancer lies somehow lies in the boy’s family. I’m so scared. I just read stomach caner is the 2nd most fatal cancer after lung cancer. Will he survive? What will happen to him??
Best answer:
Answer by Kyle Roach
Well, There is a chance he will recover from it but it all depends on how far it had progressed what facilities are available to him and how hard he is willing to fight. I have known many people personally who have survived from it but i also have seen a few pass away from it. Just remember whatever happens happens for a reason. Just be as supportive as you can to him and his family as well as your son. I wish you all the best.

Q&A: Will my mom survive this and will she get her movement back?
Question by : Will my mom survive this and will she get her movement back?
About a week ago my mom started to have problems with her left leg it started to feel really heavy even to move, So she went to the regular DR’s they said she had no blood clots, had no metal in her leg, or anything like that, So that week she fell two times one in her room my sister and brother n law helped her up, she was really upset with her leg she is the type of lady that was always stubborn to go to the DR’s for anything even for a cough, But my sister had an addition built onto her house so since my dad died in 09 we can be closer to her, she told my mom since she is going to live with her she is going to go to the DR’s and get help and stuff, so besides that after she fell in the morning she fell again in the evening time in the hallway she did not hurt anything else because my sister was trying to help her down easily, But she was to heavy to be picked up so we called the ambulance and they came and took her to the ER and me and my sister went with my mom so before this she could move her left arm perfectly, and her right arm and right leg, but all that night they where doing tests on to see why her leg was like that she felt when someone touched her or pinched her leg she has good sensation in her leg.
They also did a brain scan EMI and they said she had a 2.7cm tumor on her right side of the brain capulated, so the next day everything happen so fast they took her for brain surgery, they removed it successful, and all they did not even have to shave her head it was that good of a job, she made through that perfectly and she remembered everything the next day morning she called my sister lol she was surprised I guess people forget some things, But then they took the tumor to testing so they got the test back last week it was not good news they said she cancer stage four and it was small cell lung cancer she has an inch on her left lung, and two lesions on her liver, but since after surgery she can’t barely move her left arm like she used to, she is getting a bit better she can move her fingers/hand and wrist but not the whole arm she says it feels really heavy but she can feel if you rub it or touch her arm or poke her she still has good sensation even in her left foot, witch she can’t barely move at all, my sister said that this is bad cancer that she has, a lot of people she knew since she is a RN Nurse they don’t make it, But my mom has been strong this far and all I think she will.
The thing is she can only move her right side leg/arm really good, she gets depressed cause she can’t move her left side I can imagine, so she started Radiation yesterday Monday, she got it today to this is for her head, she does not have brain cancer so they removed the only tumor, in her brain this is just incase there is a left over cell in the brain/head, but then after a few weeks of this she will start Chemo my sister said that makes you really sick and throw up a lot and I know my mom will feel missreable with that junk, but the DR’s said it will really help her my sister said she don’t know why the DR’s say she has a good chance and all cause the things she heard about this and seen other people with this type of things are not that good, She was not eating for like a week they have her on IV fluids, and today she ate a lil bit of watermelon and she been drinking water and she had a lil bit of milkshake my sisters friend brought in to her so that’s good she is eating a bit again, She just says she is not in the mood to eat, witch I Don’t blame her but you have to to get better, she is 64yrs old, I just want her to be around and all cause the holidays and I love her and etc, and my sister wants her home to, and everyone then after the chemo she will start rehab for her arm and leg. will she ever get this back again? will she be okay how long will she live for if she agrees with the chemo? what can that really do to her?
she smoked for a few years back in the day but she stopped her self from smoking so yes she had smoked before, My dad stopped smoking to he died of the small cell cancer to he died from throwing up a lot of blood non stop, he was around the same age, but the Dr’s caught his in time, but he was also in the Vietnam war and etc, with all them chemicals, so yeah, I just want my mom to be back home and better, will she?

My husband might have lung cancer, he has never smoked and is only 30 years old. Will he survive?
Question by bella a: My husband might have lung cancer, he has never smoked and is only 30 years old. Will he survive?
He’s had some lung problems in the past because of a tick bite, but hasn’t been sick in 7 years until now. Im terrified and I don’t want to lose him. What are his chances of surviving?
He has been to the doctor and they sent him to an xray. They think he has it, also he has all the symptoms and is coughing up blood etc.
Best answer:
Answer by Speak Softly
Take him into the doctor. He’ll professionally diagnose him. It may not be lung cancer, it might be lime disease, which is transferred from ticks. I can’t give you any information on anything, not being a doctor. But, what I can tell you is that I am living proof that prayer works. I was diagnosed with heart issues a long time ago, they said I wouldn’t live past 2 weeks old. Well, here I am, 13 years later, laughing in their faces, pure joy. Pray for him, have him pray, have others pray, and go into the doctor!!!!

I come from a family full of cancer history, everything from breast to ovarian and have I been a close part of their treatments each time someone I loved was diagnosed with cancer, so I hope my personal experience helps you.
First of all, there are no home treatments for cancer. Period. Some vitamins can help in preventing cancer, but once you have it there is nothing you can do alone at home.
Next step is to find a good oncologist. Word of mouth referrals are a good way to find them as well as checking online in your state to see how local doctors are rated.
Last, and this is important when dealing with doctors… trust your gut. If you don’t feel your doctor is doing everything to help you then find a new one. My grandma had a bad experience trusting a doctor she had a bad feeling about and he nearly killed her. That is not speaking for every doctor out there, but if you have a gut feeling about your health and the hands that its in then its best to follow your instincts.
I hope this helps. Cancer is hard and no one should have to go through it. I wish your girlfriend the best.

how did you survive liver cancer in the stage 4 level and for how long?
Question by betotron: how did you survive liver cancer in the stage 4 level and for how long?
symptoms
Best answer:
Answer by well wisher
Stage 4 liver cancer is also sometimes called as end stage liver cancer. This kind of name is given for the last of the various liver cancer stages because a person having this cannot be cured or removed of the tumor masses. The prominent feature of the end stage liver cancer is the irreversibility of the liver function and this patient will go into liver failure. There is a high degree of transfer of the cancer cells to other tissues in the body in the end stage liver cancer. It can also be said that the stage 4 liver cancer is the stage of extensive metastasis.
Stage 4 liver cancer where no treatment for curative purposes is possible. Whatever is done in the end stage liver cancer is only for a palliative purpose like providing the proteins and nutrients as the liver has now failed to function. The last resort of such liver cancer stages is to have a liver transplantation and this is not possible always due to the non availability of sufficient donor liver for transplantation purposes.
