Question by Amit J: Are there any test done to rule out any type of cancer or to know if one could develop cancer?
My mom had a very painful death due to cancer and in a year my dad in law has got it. I am scared and unable to get over it. Any pain in my body makes me think that i may have it too. Lost my peace of mind. Please let me know if there could be any test to know i am ok . My pap smear, mammography was clear. But cancer could be anywhere. And is it true that as my mom had it my chances of developing cancer would increase by 50 %?
Best answer:
Answer by ihearttheavalanche
Getting blood work done to check your white blood cell count is common to screen for cancer. I think its call the T-cells they count.
My mom passed away from cancer almost a year ago and I too have lost peace of mind. But I know its not healthy to live in fear so I try to stay positive and live each day as fully as I can. No one is promised tomorrow.

Blood Test Finds Cancer Two Years Before Scans

Using just a few drops of blood, researchers have found that they could detect signs of lung cancer in patients two years before their tumors were visible using state-of-the-art body scans. “What that means is that we may be on the verge of developing a blood test to detect lung cancer in it’s earliest stages” said Dr. Carlo Croce, Director of the Human Cancer Genetics program at Ohio Sate’s James Cancer Hospital. Croce and his team discovered that molecules in the blood, known as microRNA, develop certain characteristic patterns when lung cancer first begins to form – and long before there are any visible signs of trouble. “The tumor is there, but it’s very small” said Croce, “it cannot be detected by conventional means but can be detected by looking at microRNA.”

Test Track at Disney’s Epcot Theme Park (in HD)
Please feel free to download any of my videos and upload to your own Youtube site. Test Track at Walt Disney World’s Epcot theme park in Orlando Florida is a high-speed vehicle-simulation ride in which big kids, teens and adults test their mettle in one of Disney’s longest and fastest rides. Step into the world of automotive testing as your 6-seat vehicle undergoes the safety and quality tests that General Motors performs on every prototype it manufactures. As you begin this 5-minute, nearly one-mile auto escapade, strap yourself in, ascend steep terrain that’s 3 stories high, then let loose downhill, blasting across a bumpy road and roaring through 50-degree banked curves and hair-pin turns that test suspension and brakes at speeds up to 60 miles per hour! Zoom into the environmental chamber to endure the extreme heat and cold tests—at temperatures that are 100 degrees apart! Then, see if your vehicle will withstand corrosion when robots mist water upon it. Finally, face the challenge of avoiding a crash barrier… in the nick of time! I recorded this family video on October 24, 2010 using my Canon HV30.
Trinidad Scorpion (Orange) Taste Test
Hamish and I attack a small piece of Trinidad Scorpion. This plant was given to me by Kipp who acquired them from Neil from thehippyseedcompany.com along with a bhut jolokia (which did not grow so well). The plants were in a substandard location at a flat for a year producing no fruit, and then 6 months ago i put them in the ground. The Trinidad has started producing lots of fruit, but this pod was the first. It was left to ripen on the tree, but due to the rain we had this summer and the size i wont pretend this was as hot as they get. A great heat and a great introduction to the superhots for me. Lying about environmental test results illegal ?
Question by jackie: Lying about environmental test results illegal ?
A metal factory hired an agency to test our home for possible TCE/PCE contamination.
I spoke with the rep and he said they were hired by the metal factory .He said DEP didn’t order them the test – they are doing it in compliance with the DEP regulations.
The rep laughed the while talking about expected contamination level. He said they are expecting a very low result.
Since these people are on the same side as the toxic metal factory – can they lie about the level of toxicity to the DEP ?
Should I hire someone else to do an independent test of the air in our home ?

How hard is the AP Environmental Science test, can i self study for it?
Question by the renegade angel: How hard is the AP Environmental Science test, can i self study for it?
Okay, so my school doesnt offer alot of AP’s so I cant take AP environmental science. But I’m already taking a regular Environmental Science class so i was thinking about self studying for the test and taking the ap test anyway. however i dont know anyone who has the test. So anyway, i was wondering how hard the test is and if it would be easy to self study for it
also what would be the best way to study for it…should i just buy a guide from princeton review or something?
Best answer:
Answer by Alex P
I’ve heard that this is the easiest AP to self-study for, especially if you’re already taking a regular version of the class. I would recommend buying a study book from Princeton Review. Also, you should look at the essay questions from previous years at collegeboard.com and practice them to see how well you do.
Good luck!

Is there a way I can test if I have sleep apnea without having a sleep study?
Question by : Is there a way I can test if I have sleep apnea without having a sleep study?
I suspect I have it, as I have the symptoms of it. But I think my classmates would have said if I stopped breathing while sleeping in class (I was always sleeping almost all day, every day in school). Which is why I lost my place in school.
So, is there any way I can test If I have sleep apnea without having a sleep study? or any similar sleep disorders?
Best answer:
Answer by Dochallcom, PhD
Essentially, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a medical diagnosis. In consequence, your analysis for this sleeping disorder would need to be confirmed by a physician.
Due to the critical nature of this malady, professional treatment is necessary as airway blockage can cause you to stop breathing for periods of up to 20 seconds at a time. This can occur as often as every few minutes throughout the entire night.
Under normal conditions, the muscles found at the back of your throat continually hold your airway open so air can get to your lungs. These muscles relax somewhat as you sleep. Yet, if your airway is markedly narrow, these muscles can actually block your airway when they relax.
Typically, symptoms such as mood changes, depression, irritability, sudden waking from sleep, shortness of breath, waking with a dry mouth or sore throat, morning headaches, chronic loud snoring, and possibly memory problems, remain common in OSA.
The following scale is employed to determine likelihood of OSA. Take the test and see where you fall in the probability ranking.
The Epworth Sleepiness Scale
How likely are you to doze off or fall asleep in the situations described below under normal circumstances (i.e., excluding times of over-exertion and sleep deprivation)?
Use the following scale to choose the most appropriate number for each situation:
0 = Would never doze
1 = Slight chance of dozing
2 = Moderate chance of dozing
3 = High probability of dozing
Situation (rate each on a scale of 0-3)
•sitting and reading
•watching TV
•sitting, inactive, in a public place (i.e., theatre or meeting)
•as a car passenger without a break for an hour
•lying down to rest in the afternoon as circumstances permit
•sitting and talking to someone
•sitting quietly after lunch (without alchohol)
•in a car, driving, but while stopped for a few minutes in traffic
If your points total 10 or more, you are considered borderline sleep-deprived. If 12 or higher, you should seek medical attention immediately.

Question by Jennifer R: I had a liver test done the ALT result was 2168 and the normal range is detween 7-52 no higher than that. t?
could it be liver failor, or liver cancer…. what dose the numbers mean, and how it got that high. The AST test done on my liver also was a high range of4375. Normal levels are 13-39. so ALT/SGPT range2168, And AST/SGOT levels in liver. normally in between 13-39. do you think it could be that I have Cancer in the liver, or are these early symptom, of damage.
Best answer:
Answer by 50/50 to 50
Very high levels of ALT (more than 10 times the highest normal level) are usually due to acute hepatitis, often due to a virus infection. In acute hepatitis, ALT levels usually stay high for about 1–2 months, but can take as long as 3–6 months to come back to normal.
