befor the surgery she had blood work a ct scan and chest x-rays can someone tell me what the site of the cancer would be. They scoped her throat the lungs stomach and kidneys are ok. Just found this out today and I am really down please help

I am sorry to hear that. My mom was recently diagnosed for cancer too and she is still going thru testing. These things are tricky and very upsetting and depressing. Too me it sounds like it may have only been in the gallbladder and if so she is very lucky they caught it in time. They will biopsy those nodules, that usually takes about a week or two. They will have more to go on after that. Hopefully all will turn out ok. My mom has tumors all in her bones (spine, cranium) and she just had a hip replacement. they are still looking for her primary if she has one. Just get your mom ready in her battle gear because if she has it anywhere else it is going to be a fight! Think positive, and pray. Don’t let them tell you anything that is negative about death because that is all up to her, and God. She is the one who can decide wether or not she will fight and live, and she can. Everything else is just data. Listen to the docs they do know what they are doing, but use your instincts as well. Nutrition is a big key, and knowledge is. The more you learn and know about what is going on the more it will help her and you. Surf the web for things and look for a lot of inspirational stories. Miracles happen everyday…Good luck to you and your mom, and….the best medicine…..(((((((((HUGS)))))))))

Both my grandfathers died when i was in elementary school due to cigarette smoking (one was lung cancer, the other wasn’t but his lungs made the death slower and more painful).
My x-bf and close friend is 23 and has full out emphysema.
My current significant other has cystic fibrosis, a lung disease he was born with that is severely worsened by cigarettes. Literally cuts years off of his life when most non-smokers with that disease die before they get into their 30s.
My professor who I am close to quit smoking 20 years ago, yet still has a very raspy voice and can’t eat many foods she loves because cigarettes destroyed her liver, on top of many other problems.
Almost all of my friends smoke cigarettes. When I see them do this I see them digging their own graves. I have a hard time talking to them about it because I am hurt and come off as a bitch.
I am writing to ask for help with an art project I am doing. I cast a pair of lungs out of glass with cigarette butts melted in them. I plan to mount them in front of x-rays of the upper body and putting a cigarette butt in the mouth. Any ideas how I can make one image portray my feelings better? I would like the viewer to see that each cigarette is cutting minutes off their life. Other points include a more painful death and the fact that those around them are force to experience second hand smoke.
I am looking for advice on visual aids to help express this idea or a phrase. Or even just venting on how you feel about cigarette smoking could help.

What about if you have 2 kids looking down at a grave with cigarettes on the grave stone? Or maybe the grave is on fire? A skeleton made out of cigarettes? Or even put the ideas together and have 2 kids looking at a gravestone with a skeleton sitting up out of the grave smoking a cigarette. Or a grave stone completely covered with piles of cigarettes.
I personally think your idea of the lungs with cigarette butts melted into them and put infront of xrays is better. You should keep that. [:

My mother-in-law was told she will have to be on chemo for the rest of her life. She was diagnosed with small cell lung cancer 1 yr ago, after massive rounds of chemo & radition her tumor was gone. On her 9 month check up they found a tumor on her adrenal gland. She can’t have any more radition, but they put her back on chemo. She has been doing chemo again since aug. I know it will destroy your immune system, but what I am wondering if you can be on chemo for an extended amount of time. Her treatments are 5 days of chemo, & 16 days off. I know there are different types of drugs used & amounts, but I am just looking for a heads up.

@Poboy – This guy is one person out of thousands in Washington DC. You have political influence from MoveON.org, the ACLU, Huffington Post, and other organizations saying that we need to raise taxes. We have others like Grover Norquist, Heritiage Foundation, etc. saying we don’t need to raise taxes and we need to cut spending.
Personally, having this Asker ask question after question about Grover Norquist shows that he clearly has an infatuation with him for some reason other than taxes. Is a restraining order required.

Before i go any further, i’d like whoever reads this to know that i don’t smoke, and that nearly my entire family has passed from lung cancer due to heavy smoking. i am well aware of all the horrible things smoking does to smokers and second hand smoking.
i fear this is going to be a bit of a rant, and i must apologize in advance. But i’ve been getting more and more angry as i learn about more bans going on with where a smoker can smoke. i live in New Jersey. Smoking has been banned in bars, in restaurants, and a lot of companies are now banning people from smoking on the premises. There were designated areas in restaurants-smoking and non, and in bars, granted, i’ll give them that one. But nevertheless, i feel like the government is just taking away all of a smokers’ rights to smoke. i understand the fact that it’s very oftentimes offensive to second hand smokers, but if they don’t like the smell, they can go somewhere else. And again, second hand smoking is obviously something that can be equally as jeopardizing to one’s health as first hand. But i feel like (i’m a Republican mind you) the government is just further taking away peoples’ rights, that it’s getting larger in what it does, and it’s invading even further into peoples’ private lives.
So yes. Again, let it be known that i am well aware of why these bans are being suggested or have already been implemented, but what are your thoughts on the matter?

I used to smoke in high school. My father found out that I smoked cigarette one day while I was at school. When I came home, I walked through the door, and as soon as he saw me, he walked over from the kitchen to me and slapped the living s*** out of me. After he slapped me, he threw the packet of cigarette towards me and walked away. I haven’t smoked since that day. It happened 20 years ago.
Good ol’ fashioned whoopin helped me kick the habit.

1. Asbestos… if you got asbestos poisoning from any Federal employment, you can’t sue.
2. Untold gruesome experiments conducted on Armed forces and other government workers – can’t sue.
3. Federalized Airport security – they never groped boobs and testicles until they were FEDERAL EMPLOYEES.
4. Area 51 – lies lies lies and many workers were forced to burn toxic waste in open pits in the 90s. If a private corporation did that, they’d be sued into bankruptcy.
5. Do you enjoy visiting the DMV, Social Security offices, or any Local State or Fed. Government office? The workers are lazy, mean, on break half the time, and couldn’t care less about you. Private offices have workers who kiss your butt if you’re a customer, and get FIRED instantly if they are rude.
6. Federal and state workers, including teachers NEVER get fired. The only time they get fired is if they are caught in bed with a minor or murder someone.
I could list 1000 other examples.

But the specialist said 3 weeks ago that mum only had months left.

I don’t think that is a fake doctor.
steroids are… obviously bad. however, steroids relax the body.
it relaxes the muscles when it is too tense. hope this helps

This might be a dumb idea, but could you have a clock next to it, with cigarettes as the minute or hour hand? That would make me think that cigarettes are taking time off your life… but i dont know
Good luck, this is for a good cause. I know what you mean about wanting to help others but coming across as… well you know I’m in nursing and I hate to see people destroy their lifes, when it is SOOOO obvious that smoking causes a number of things, cancer, COPD… etc! ACK
Could you make a baby lung next to it, with the baby’s full of second hand smoke? I don’t know how you would do that, but its an idea.. Show that the baby is unable to control the fact that he or she experiences second hand smoke.
But of course, sometimes the most amazing art is ones that aren’t too obvious. I suppose you don’t need to make it super obvious, that its going to make people think.
Another idea… fill an hourglass with soot!

A naturopathic doctor saved a girls life with herbs and alternative therapy. Why is it naturopaths aren’t getting the credit they deserve in medicine.
I researched their training and their medical school is longer than conventional doctors yet they are so much more limited.
Don’t tell me they aren’t as qualified when I’ve seen them do the same course work as MDs. Conventional medicine has been around just a little over a 100 years.
While Alternatives have been around for thousands of years and much of the world (75%) is still using them.
My son was require by an MD to take speed (Rittelan) for focus at school. Over the summer I’ve done some research of my own an after talking with an herbalist he was put on 3 herbs and has no problems with focus any longer.
MD must stand for something other than medical doctor! I have a client (I own a hair salon) that had cancer and was healed by a Naturopathic doctor through the use of herbs.
Why is it people think there’s no cure for cancer? There is it’s your own body with a little help from a good herbalist or naturopathic doctor (ND)!

Anecdotes don’t mean anything. They aren’t data. Naturopathy cannot stand scientific scruntiny. They aren’t doctors and they don’t actually treat anything.

Im part of a mental health program and live in a board and care, due to loosing my career. Im 28 years old. I tried therapy but quit in may because I just couldnt communicate.
This year living here ive seen 2 people die that id grown close too, one of lung cancer, the other starved himself by throwing up all the time until he looked like a pow….he finally threw up blood infront of me and was rushed to the er where he died.
Seeing this leaves me feeling old and I worry about looking so thin like they did that I gorge myself on junk food….on the other hand I sometimes dont.eat that good for days cause being in the dining room where they where makes me nauseas and gorging makes me reassure myself im not sick like they were.
As a result im having bowl problems..crying alot…anger…greif…but I dont know how to share this

I once had asthma, and I was taken to live in Arizona.
I lived in Ohio—where it’s one big wetlands—and I got autoimmune disease
I lived in Louisiana, and caught cold a lot.
I live in Texas—and I’m pretty gull darn healthy, but for a lil’ problem with phlegm every now & then.
So, I’d say go SW or desert/coastal for best health conditions

i was at work taking down a garrage roof that was full of asbestos had to snap the boards where the bolts where because they were to rusty to get out. I had a Face mask on (not a airfed mask) just a normal dustmask and i had overalls on. Could this cause any damage if i was only working with it for 30-40 mins ?

can’t swim for atleast an hour after that.. also go get looked at and let a healthcare professional know(if you haven’t yet) try to find out if it was the straight fiberred stuff or the curved (straight being much worse then latter)
