My mom have been diagnosed with a stage 2 breast cancer. the doctor wants her to undergo a mastectomy ( an operation where the whole breast will be removed). But she is scared to undergo such an operation and wants to opt for some herbal medicines that promises to heal cancer patients.

Wait until you’re done with all the chemo treatments. It should grow back afterward, talk to your doctor about helping you out if there is a problem with it.

Cancer Doc answered a question about lung nodules for me. Just got PET scan results back and there was no uptake of my larger (12 mm) nodule…but the report says that the fact of no metabolic update cannot rule out bronchoalveolar or carcinoid tumors. They also found 5 more subcentimeter nodules and I have hypermetabolic and enlarged mid cervical lymph nodes (12mm by 15 mm) – I haven’t had so much as a cold in 2 years! I am still very concerned, but the doc says to wait four months for another CAT to see if any of these grow. I am a widow with a ten year old son. I am all he has, his dad passed away three years ago. 47 yr old woman with 42 pack yrs of smoking (just quit). Any advice? I don’t see how I can wait 4 months when I FEEL LIKE I KNOW IT IS CANCER…which is hard for me to explain – I just know it. Thanks!

I’m not a doctor but I’d suggest getting a second, third, even fourth opinion. Like you mention, it’s not something you want to wait around for. I wish you the best, and many years of health and happiness.

In my heart of hearts, I believe there are cures for certain types of cancer. However, the argument should no longer be with the tobacco companies. It should be with the drug companies that hold back their scientific findings because it behooves them.

To make them healthy? Go to the woods. There is no cleaner air than what nature provides, so go out there for a few days and see how you feel when you return. Oxygen bars are also available, but I wonder as to their efficacy.
To keep them healthy? Keep a dust mask handy, and whenever you are in a shop or a dust blows up put it on. Avoid construction sites; concrete mix and insulation and drywall will ruin you. Avoid large cities, especially Hong Kong (nearly 50 percent of LAs air particulates come from China!).

i dont beleive that you can survive with a pancreas.
a friend of mine had pancreatic cancer and her partially removed, along with a couple of other organs that were closeby. she also had 6 months of chemo and radiation.she is really beating the odds by having been cancer free for 2 years now however, her diet is very restricted,virtually no processed sugar, hardly any fats, no meat, all organic foods she takes mega vitamins.

Put some roofing felt over the area where it leaks, and seal it with the roofing felt adhesive.
This would need to be done from the outside, there’s not really anything that can be done from inside.

People who don’t smoke marijuana know how harmful and addictive it is. It causes lung cancer and brain damage, and it is so addictive that it is impossible to quit. Therefore, they are so disgusted by others who do it that they think it should remain illegal and anyone who smokes it should be thrown in jail.
Every single person who believes marijuana should be legalized is a user of it.

My next door neighbor is probably thirty something and lives alone. He’s in a wheel chair all the time. I think I only saw him once out of the wheel chair and it was in the elevator of the apartment building we live in. He was holding on to the railing and breathing really heavily. Are there diseases or disorders where your able to walk but you just stay in a wheel chair most of the time? He doesn’t work so I bet he’s on disability. I just wonder how serious his disability is. Anyone know of anything he could possibly have?

Yes, I have seen someone like that at this college I go to. He can walk short distances and stand okay, but needs the wheel chair to go any decent distance.

My 80 year old mother was just diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. We’re learning about it now. She’s had increased shortness of breath over the months and has a dry cough for quite some time. Many years ago (probably 5-8…she can’t remember), she took the drug Macrodantin to help relieve her urinary track infections. I’m just understanding now there could be a link between that and developing pulmonary fibrosis. Can anyone comment and/or offer some insight? Her condition is considered “moderate” by a pulmanologist. She’s about to undergo the “breathing functionality” test, but hasn’t done so as of yet. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance. Also should she be changing her diet at all (or any tips there?). Thanks.

My good friend has been diagnosed with small cell carcignomia(lung cancer) not sure what stage yet but is there a chance he will survive this. all my research i have done online doesnt make this seem like a possibility. i have asked many questions bout this sorry just very confused concerned. He has two small children they are 2 and 5 and i just feel so bad for him. So far what we know is that both lobes in the left lung are 45% affected, he has been coughing up blood and experiencing shortness of breath. He was just diagnosed and pretty much just accepted he is gonna die, but i am having a hard time with it. I dont know what to say to him about it, it makes me tear up everytime i think about it

Most hospitals and clinics offer a certain amount of “charity” or “financial hardship case” care if you fall into a low income category. Call and ask each provider if you can apply for it. The paperwork goes in front of the particular hospital or whatever’s board to be determined. Unfortunately this happens to so many people – the costs of treating cancer can ruin you. At the very least, most collection agencies will settle for about 20% of what you owe if push comes to shove. Figure out how to pay it and move on. I admire you for not wanting to file bankruptcy. (Can your wife get any type of unemployment benefits?) Did you have any type of disability insurance that would help? Can you sell something to pay the bills? Best wishes.

My husband was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis about 1 year and a half ago. He began a horrific cough about 5 months ago. The doc says he has never seen anyone who had a cough as the main symptoms with the fibrosis. Anyone else have a terrible cough with the fibrosis. Some have said he has interstatial and some have said he has idiopathic. He has lost his voice – I’m gong to say from the horrific coughing. He has been placed on 80mg of prednisone early on and then on 40 for 2 months. He is now down to 20mg. He is also on chemo therapy in hopes to stop the progression of the fibrosis. I really need some help.
He is on oxygen at night and on bad days. It breaks my heart to listen to him cough himself into breathlessness.

IP6… Inositol Hexaphosphate , Also called Phytic Acid. It is a dietary supplement that is very very safe and has been found to help in pulmonary fibrosis caused by irritants like asbestos. You should check into it. Also rice bran oil added to the diet. Check out these two products on the net there is a lot of info. Also something called resveratrol. There is only one brand that I know of that is packaged correctly not to lose it’s properties, and that is longevinex, but there may be other brands out now. I need to know LOL There are so many ignorant people and in all honesty they are starting to get annoying…
Here is an example:
I know a woman who has a child – she did drugs, drank alcohol and partied when she was 15 – her boyfriend was in his early 20′s and they weren’t using any “protection” – she discovered she was pregnant 3 months into her pregnancy all the while doing drugs, smoking, getting drunk… So her poor child obviously has problems – he not only has one kidney, no teeth enamel, lung problems but a learning disability and speech issues…
She has never left the city she’s from, has never taken her child anywhere – won’t even allow him on school trips… She lives in a house with her grandparents and uncle who all smoke (despite her child having all his problems) last year the poor kid (he was 6) had a burn mark on his arm from running around his house when someone was smoking – apparently he ran into a cigarette someone was holding – and the uncle in the household is a drunk!
She sends me spam about health things like “cancer” causing dioxins in water bottles… LOL Somehow I think that’s the least of what she should be concerned about….
So tell me, I’m no genius, but I do have my head on tight…. What the hell is wrong with people like this? and what can I do to avoid having to hear these stories from these people…?

That’s the problem – I have great friends who are not from “around here” they’re educated, good hearted, amazing people – it’s just that the people in my neighborhood seem to be from the same iq pool – short of moving (I’m considering it) how can I keep them at bay LOL

What makes people ignorant, is their lack of education. Whatever the subject is….. In the case that you have explained about that women obviously was not taught anything about sex ed, or pregnancy 101, etc. It;s unfortunate. I wish people were less ignorant. I cant tell you how to avoid hearing stories from people like this, because everybody has a little ignorance in them… even if they dont want to admit it. Just choose to be around more educated people!

I’m getting a lung x-ray in a few days, and I’m wondering how big of an appearance approx. 10 cigarettes would have made on the lungs? I don’t smoke often, only every second weekend (and all in all, it’s been 10 cigarettes). I’m 17, and I’m going to stop smoking now because I’m afraid my mom might find out if this lung x-ray will make it turn up.
What are the visible affects of cigarettes at 10 cigarettes? Thanks

It is a great resolution to stop smoking. And 11 cigarettes is not enough to show the impact of nicotine on your lungs. It takes years of smoking in order to show. So relax:)
