So I asked this before, and the general response was “Are you chronocally ill? Because then you would know the horrors of your healthcare system!”
I’m not chronocally ill… but within a year, my grandfather had a BRAIN TUMOUR, my grandmother was recently diagnosed with LUNG CANCER.
I’ve also had an uncle who was in a MINING ACCIDENT. Two other aunts with CANCER. My best friend’s step-dad also has CANCER, etc.
This is just getting ridiculous. These people have all been treated well. My uncle got air lifted and treated straight away. I’m being told that people have to go to the states though? I’ve known many ill and injured people, and NONE of them have gone to the states for treatment.
Also… I got “How long does it take you to get to your healthcare provider? I bet it takes 50 billion years!” and actually, no, that’s not true either. I can walk in to urgent care tomorrow and see my family doctor, it’ll take about a half hour.
I also went to a walk-in clinic the other day… I was literally in and out in a fifteen minutes.
OH and now the response is that you don’t believe me!
Hi, sorry, I’m in Canada, but I’ve also lived in Britain. I’m just really outraged. Otherwise, I wouldn’t be spending time defending the system like this, supposedly “making up” these things. Why would I defend it if I was lying? Use your logic.
I’m actually sickened and very frustrated… Maybe I should step in to urgent care tomorrow! Tell them that they need to smarten up because the Republican Americans who are brainwashed by pharma companies are on to us!
So obvious? Even though none of those are actually lies? Proves how PARANOID you are though. Maybe you should be more skeptical about the media.

I have talked about six people, if you don’t know six people who have been chronocally ill, or injured, then you must be quite young.
Why would I even lie? I’m not American, this will not affect me. If it didn’t work out for people I know, whether they have lived or died, I wouldn’t be defending it.
To know SIX people… who have been chronocally ill, or injured, in 19 years… is too much?
My grandmother lives in Newfoundland, the poorest province in Canada! She’s having no problem getting cancer treatment. Also, my boyfriend lives in Britain, and I have friends there, none of them have complained to me. I also lived in Britain as a student, and I got a doctor right away when I needed one.

Went to the hospital because I was having trouble breathing and sharp pain when I took a deep breath. They did a chest x-ray and it came back with a mass. I also had blood work hasn’t come back yet. There was also blood in my urine. The doctor there said she didn’t know what it was because I’ve had no symptom’s for pneumonia. I went to see my family doctor and she said my lungs sound clear but they did another chest x-ray. Also my lungs sounded clear at the hospital.
So I’m worried any advice.
I have asked my doc these question and because I just saw her today I have no answere. I was just looking for some insite. The mass was about the size of and averge fist. Also they are treating it as an infection but there not sure if that is what is cuz the blood work hasn’t come back yet.

Depends on what the “mass” is and if it is in your lungs or in the chest cavity. My mom had lung cancer for 10 years. She never smoked so that took us by surprise. It wasn’t the original tumor that killed her as that was removed.
If you’re concerned tell your doctor. My mom had her cancer diagnosed by a biopsy (took 12 samples of lung tissue). Blood in the urine is not related to your lungs.
Best to wait on the test results and blood work to come back.

Sometimes, you can’t just be happy with who you are. You feel depressed but you want to keep your feelings all in. Having low self-esteem, depression, or stress can lead to an eating disorder. An eating disorder is an illness that causes a person to develop unhealthy eating habits. The three types of eating disorders are anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating. Having an eating disorder can affect your relationship with other, cause you to think many negative thoughts about yourself and your body, and damage your health. If you suspect that someone has an eating disorder, it is important that you show support for that person so they can have a healthy attitude and body. As you grow older, you begin to feel more conscious of your body. You go through physical changes, as well as “social pressures.” One or two out of one hundred kids, particularly girls, that struggle with this disorder can successfully hide their extreme weight loss from their parents for months or years. Anorexia can come from psychological, genetic, social, and family factors. Many girls are exposed to images of thin models that have the “ideal” body size. Participating in activities such as gymnastics,where thinness is emphasized can also lead to anorexia. Since parents are role models fortheir children, a parent’s body image, their lifestyle, and their dieting Once someone is obsessed with dieting,exercise, and taking laxatives, they will still see themselves as overweight even if they can see their bones.

Bulimics will show excessive shape and weight concern, yet still consume quantities of food up to 20,000 calories a day. This all begins with dissatisfaction of the bodt.

just a few tips…
try not to use contractions
when you say “anorexics” you are isolating them from the everyone else it would be better to say people with anorexia or something like that
“Being anorexic can also result in an irregular heartbeat, permanent failure of normal growth, and osteoporosis, a condition in which the bones become weak and can breakeasily.” you use a lot of comas here. take out the one between “osteoporosis and a” and replace it with “which is” then take out “in which” and replace it with “that causes” then take out the “can” before “break”
try to read through it yourself and see if there are any other places where comas can be taken out. otherwise it looked superb

I am almost 100% sure that it is C. Because my grandma died from lung cancer and the doctor explained to me that it was the kind of tissue that made it attractable.

My Dog Speck Has Breathing Problems, Does anyone know what this could be?
This is my little dog, Speck, and he has these breathing episodes. If anyone recognizes these breathing patterns and knows what the cause may be, please let me know. This little guy is the world to me, and I just want to know if there is anything I can do to stop these episodes or possibly prevent them from getting worse. They typically happen about once every 3 days, sometimes as much as twice a day, and sometimes he wont have them at all for a few weeks. His Vet has not seen these videos yet, but when i described the behavior to him, he said it was a “reversed sneeze”. However, the videos that I have seen on Youtube of dogs with a reverse sneeze doesn’t look or sound at all like what Speck experiences. Speck is a Chihuahua/Terrier mix. In August 2010 he will turn 6. Thanks

I am 20 and on Monday. I originally went to my doctor for a swollen lymph node on the left side of my neck that I discovered 4 months ago without any symptoms that would indicate lymphoma except for the lump, and that same morning I was to go to the doctor I came down with a sore throat.
Anyway he checked my swollen lymph node and prescribed me antibiotics, asked me a series of question on if I have allergies and referred me to get a chest X-ray to make sure its not lung cancer, took a blood test to check for infection or Leukemia. He also told me Worse Case Scenario would be the “C” word like lymphoma, Lung cancer, or Leukemia and I NEVER smoke or drink. Anyway the same day I came from the doctor on Monday I found two more swollen Lymph nodes one above my collar bone and the other about one is about 2 inches from my original lymph node.
Also today I have been having a congested nose and blowing out mucus, my throat is STILL sore, but not as bad as Monday and I have been having a sore dull pain on the left side of my tongue(not the surface of tounge) all the way in the back on the side and when I looked at my tongue its like I have some swelling on that side as well as some dark veiny streak and when I touch it it hurts. No pus it coming out it just hurts a little and is causing my teeth on the left side to hurt as well as my throat on the left side. I don’t know if this is normal? My jaw also hurts on the left side, but I’ve already had my wisdom teeth taken out last year cause I use to get this same pain when my wisdom teeth were coming in, but it stopped when I had them taken out. Now the pain returned a little. I don’t know what’s going? It’s just that since the doctor told me the terrifying news on what MIGHT be I have just been freaking out like crazy! Am I dying? Is this something serious? Am I truly over reacting? IS this normal? I’ve been taking advil which is helping with the pain on my tongue

Ur lymph nodes draw out infection from ur body they take in the infection which makes them swell, now it sounds like u have a throat infection which is causing the nodes , cancer doesn’t tend to affect young people seen as ur 20 u should be fine also apparently cancer ‘doesn’t hurt’ ur doctor seems a bit dramatic to tell u that with out knowing anything else/ results.
There are so many reasons why lymph node can be raised very few of which are cancer related.
So relax I’m sure U’ll be fine

my husband had pneumonia in june – the dr found a mass in the upper right lung lobe – after 3 ct scans, bronicascope, needle biopsy and pet scan they still don’t have any sure cancer diagnosis – the lung dr sent us to surgeon – they said all test show abnormal cells – my husband is a smoker, has been on inhalers of albuterol for over 40 years – apetite good, all vitals good, what should we do about an open biopsy and or surgery to remove mass?

There is no right or wrong decision in this situation – you will only know the best answer after either procedures is done. It would be best to talk to the surgeon about the difference in the risks from an open biopsy and removing the mass. Removal risks depend on the size and location of the mass. If the risks of the biopsy and removal are in the same ballpark, then it makes sense to remove the mass. If removal is a high risk surgery, then, it might be better to have the biopsy and then make a decision about removal.

I have been a smoker for years and I am paranoid about getting lung cancer. I have been having a lot of pain in my back. Especially my left side. A dull, throbbing pain. I also have a 25 pound one year old who I cart around all day.
I had an x-ray of my chest a couple months ago after an accident – to look for broken ribs. I would think that if I had a problem, it would have been seen there. But still I am worried.
Any advice?

I don’t think you have cancer – I think the back pain is probably because you are carrying a child and you will not be standing the way we are suppose to be standing or walking, it will probably be muscular, try not to carry the child and see if it helps because you know that spoils the child by giving attention all day, and for the record when my dad had lung cancer he had no symptoms except a cough, for the back pain try a heat pad, the cheap ones in the pound shop work great if you are in the UK.

He has been recieving strong doses of chemo for 5 months and already gets shots of harapin every night for the swelling in his legs. This specific incident started a couple days ago and now his leg is extremely swollen and so my step mom brought him to the ER 2 hours ago. I am 3 1/2 hours away and nobody from my family has called again to let me know whats going on so can anyone tell me how serious this is? He also continues to smoke cigarettes. He had quit a little over a year ago and was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and brain cancer 7 months later.

He has stage 4 lung cancer he does not have brain cancer.
Yes this is serious and not curable so it doesn’t matter if he smokes or not.

Every mourning I have a terrible cough. I hack for at least an hour, almost unable to breath. It feels like someone is stabbing a knife through my lungs. I cough so hard my throat burns. And the cough itself sounds terrible. Sometimes I’m wheezing. I struggle to get air in.
I myself do not smoke. But my mother and her boyfriend smoke constantly. There times when I’m with them and the smoke two packs, one for each. I’m around them allot. I’ve tried to get them to not smoke around me because it screws with my allergies. And now I’ve developed what I think is smokers cough.
Could someone tell me if it actually is and if it isn’t, what it is. And how to get rid of it. I really tired of being short of breath in the mourning’s after an hour or so of coughing. Because I have band, and my breathing is something terrible after those fits.
Your help is much appreciated, and thanks to all who answer in advance.

I know what second hand smoke is. (: I’ve been around it my whole life.
Half the time I can’t get away from them because when we spend our ‘family time’, I’m trapped in a moving car long enough for them to finish off 2 packs and then some.

Sounds like you have bouts of emphysema and because you cannot breath at times, you could cause harm to your body, particularly your heart from all of the coughing. Coughing hard causes your heart to work harder. Keep away from the smokers, I can not believe that they would continue to smoke around you after listening to you cough up your guts! Go see a doctor asa you can and have a chest x-ray done to see the condition of your lungs.

The CDC had been working on a report about the Great Lakes and had known there were “hot spots” affecting major population areas (Milwaukee, Chicago) with near-toxic water that is dramatically increasing levels of cancer, birth defects, etc. and they sat on the info. Just recently has the press found out and made mention of it but after a day the topic died.
GARDASIL, the HPV vaccine that recently came into the market and is now being pushed by some school districts in various states has been showed to actually increase the liklihood of the strains it does not protect against. In fact, a lawsuit has been in place for at least a year and they state “Of the 1,637 adverse reactions to Gardasil reported to the FDA since the drug was on the market, there were 371 serious reactions. Of the 42 women who received the vaccine while pregnant, 18 experienced side effects ranging from spontaneous abortion to fetal abnormalities.”
Aspartame, the sweetener used in diet sodas and tons of other products, is toxic! It’s been proven to cause serious health and mental health problems and is banned in one state already with Arizona currently trying to ban it. Yet when you buy a diet Pepsi or Coke… there it is!
Remember the big “Bird Flu” scare and how talk was we would all need to take a vaccine to keep us safe? Several KEY POLITICIANS, including the Sec. of Defense and Sec of Health were key players in the company that was selling the vaccine!

I am in need of some serious advise. I am an adult woman in need of food. I have been collecting food stamps for awhile now..because I have been out of work for a long.. time. My name is only on my lease. My mom who has lung cancer lives with me. I am only on my food stamps. She buys her own food. I did recently get a part time job on some weekends and one week day night with a Catering company. I start in May. I am going to get a pretty good wage per hour. But.. will probably be able to still collect because of the lack of hours. I had to take whatever I could get at this point and because I care for my mother in the day and take her to her appointments for her cancer.
Today.. I get a knock on the back door. It was a woman from the Human Services department. She asked if my mother lives here. (Of course I said no) I don’t want to go to jail or prison.. but we need food. My mothers money will be going for chemo treatments which will be the price of a new fully loaded Hummer when all is said and done. This is life. As with the economy.
I need to know what you would do…Or what I can do.. on my behalf.. to save my butt here. I am trying to be a good daughter and have been doing all the right things here. I don’t want problems. I wish I never answered the door but I did. The woman for some strange reason did not ask who I was/my name. She said she heard or has down that she lives with her daughter. My mother goes sometimes.. to the hospital or clinic in town to see a doctor. That is the only place she told she lives with me. Who would think.. you can’t even or should withhold whom you live with these days. But.. you do.
My moms mail comes here. I thought about getting a PO Box .. but that will cost 60-90.00 a year. Should we do this?
Because of my moms condition.. I can’t be moving and we can’t afford to be without food. My mom worked in her life 25 years for a factory. But.. as I said chemo is threw the roof expensive. There is very little that isn’t known about people in the system. All sorts of information is linked to people’s social security numbers, and the woman who came to your door really was on the right track. When dealing with agencies that provide services to low income people, it is best to be honest, as the downside can have severe consequences. You may be better off all around if you reveal your situation to whatever agency or agencies are active in your case. You might receive more benefits once your situation can be examined in a new light. Also, don’t threaten people with deletion. It isn’t necessary or polite.

so you know how teachers are always asking, “what do you want to be when you grow up?” i’ve never really known the answer to that, but about a month ago i participated in the light the night cancer walk in los angeles and it kinda changed my perspective. i’m so sick of watching people having to go through so much. okay my question is, what are you supposed to study to try to find the cure for cancer? i was thinking biology.. but i’m not sure. i know i probably sound like another stupid teenager going through a phase, but i really want this..i’m a sophomore in high school, so i don’t think it’s too late yet.. (i took biology last year)

Since his death I decided not to re-marry, I sold all my inherited
belongings and deposited all the sum of $ 3.2million dollars with a
Security Company. Presently, this money is still in their custody, and
the management just wrote me as the Legitimate beneficiary to come
forward to receive the money after keeping it for so long or rather
issue a letter of authorization to somebody to receive it on my behalf
since I can not come over as a result of my illness, or they get it
confiscated. Presently, I’m with my laptop in a hospital where I have
been undergoing treatment. I have since lost my ability to talk and my
doctors have told me that I have only a few months to live.
It is my last wish to see that this money is invested in any
organization of your choice and distributed each year among the charity
organization, the poor and the motherless baby?s home where I come
from. I want your good humanitarian, to also use this money to fund
churches, orphanages and widows around. I must let you know that this
was a very hard decision, but I had to take a bold step towards this
issue because I have no further option. I hope you will help see my
last wishes come true.
As soon as I receive your reply I shall give you the contact of the
Security Company. I will also issue you a letter of authority, which
will prove that you are the new beneficiary of my funds. Please assure
me that you will act accordingly as I stated herein. Hope to hear from

Hits funny how people think that saying you’re a Christian makes you more trustworthy some how.
Please! I know it’s a scam. I just think stuff like this gives Christians a bad name. What I’ve got to wonder is, are there really Christians that fall for this stuff?

dont worry about those letters. i get those all the time its really anoyying. 1 time i was like wtf and decided to keep replying to them. i asked the guy how he got my email… he never emailed me again

I am 24, 359lbs, and 6′ tall. I don’t have asthma or any other respiratory problems or disorders. As far as I know, I don’t have any condition that can contribute to breathing problems. I also wake up feeling tired sometimes.
To answer Pitman Floyd, my posture is kind of stooped and I do suffer from back pain. My feet do get kind of swollen sometimes, but nothing real severe. Also, in the morning, my knees and feet also feel quite stiff.
In reference to t’s post, I do occasionally wake up with a headache and frequently wake up with a dry mouth.

could be Ankylosing spondylitis, an inflammatory arthritis which can cause breathing problems. But then it could be a million other things. Get checked out asap, request a blood / urine test and explain all the more serious symptoms

my father is 73yrs. old, he visit to the doctor for annual check up now the doctor found out ( ultrasound ) that his prostate has lymph nodes, now is there a possibility that this become a prostate cancer?

Human have many lymph nodes in our body, include in the area around prostate.
Lymph node enlargement can be early sign of cancer, but also can be sign of infection.
No one here can tell you if it is cancer or not.
Your father’s doctor will have to perform biopsy to diagnosed your father.
