Is there still plenty of time to join up for the Military?
Question by erudite: Is there still plenty of time to join up for the Military?
Still Plenty of Time Left
…to enlist and get over there Cons. Bush has until ’09 to really screw up the world — maybe longer if our worst suspicions about these fascist scums turn out to be true.
You too can get your name carved on a Washington memorial, to last for all time. That’s the closest 99.99999% of you people would otherwise ever get to immortality.
Of course if you just get one or more limbs blown off, 80% of your body covered with 1st degree burns, or simply have to live on a kidney machine for the rest of your life due to DU exposure — well, you don’t get quite as much.
C’mon — 150,000 die every year due to lung cancer, 55,000 due to auto accidents — as right-wing radio constantly reminds you. Your death or disfigurement as a soldier would be insignificant compared to those statistics.
Do your patiotic duty and die for XOM, HAL, SO, and all the others. We’ll we be thinking of you as we await the next game console launch from Microsoft or Sony.

Question by bludreamygirl2323: Should have asked this a week ago…it’s 3:30 MT time , I’m having a lung biopsy at 8:30 this am and am scared?
this morning at 8:30 am. I am scared to death. After going to the ER for chest pains,Dr discovered a nodule upper left lung. The probability this could be cancer is high..I have had basil cell carcinoma, been smoking for 30+ years, am 50, and both my parents smoked and died from small cell carcinoma. I have lost an extreme amount of weight and never feel well. I also have MS. My Dr said the nodule was in a bad place to get to and a needle biopsy might not work. Has any one else been told this? Also, do you get the results right away? Is it more likely to be cancer if its on a certain area of the lung? It is 1centimeter in size.
Thank you
Update…went to the surgery center for the biopsy, at the last minute the Dr came in and said he couldn’t do the needle biopsy because of it’s location. He said it was inside my lung and in the apex of the left lung and it was too risky for him to try and get too. He told me he spoke with my GP and its been decided to send me to a thoracic surgeon. My appt isn’t until March 13th!!!!!!! I am going crazy with worry. Whats next? Not sure what sort of surgery I will have….any idea’s?

Think about it. You’ve been there and this appointment is already in 2 1/2 weeks, that’s really fast.
You’ve been waiting for so many years, now this some days are not dangerous at all.
Maybe it’s cancer, but than you’ll know that your parents died from cancer, and you’ll just doing the same. So the risk was high as soon as you started to smoke, so why now worried about? You knew it as soon as you started that this could happen to you as well.
Now wait and see what will be, at least you went to the doctor, that’s the first step and now I would quit smoking as second step..

Can i get Rejected for UAE visa if I have spot in my lungs ? I don’t have TB any time in my life.?
Question by bhairav p: Can i get Rejected for UAE visa if I have spot in my lungs ? I don’t have TB any time in my life.?
I am going to Dubai after One week. I am selected for Sales of Construction Chemcials. Recently I had taken X-Ray for just confirmation of my fitness. Inwhich my Doctor told me that you had some healing in your lungs which is not TB, but Doctors at Dubai may declare you unfit for the same.I never had such type of disease in my life. I am 29 year Old. What should I do if I go thier and declared unfit?
Should I inform my employer before doing into medical? So that they can comeout with some solution?
Kindly suggest please if any one had some experience.
Best answer:
Answer by Gracie D.
Yes,it would be. There was one staff that we hired a few months back. He took medical exams here in Dubai 3x just to make sure. He had a scar in his lung. He said he was already healed and it happened yrs ago. However, since he was not able to pass the medical, we had to send him back to his country of origin.
My guess is that, if you inform your employer with what youve found out, chances are they will not let you come here.
But if you have a visa and air ticket already, and you mentioned that you will be here after a week, you can try.

funeral, church or room where there is no air flow..I have to leave out because I start coughing ..I use my inhaler, but it does not work. Does anyone out there know what this happens? Thank you..
Best answer:
Answer by Real_woman65
Not surprising because there is less oxygen wherever there are more people gathered, combine that with the lack of air flow and it becomes pure torture for a COPD or asthma patient. You need to find out if you can obtain a small portable oxygen tank. Please talk to your doctor about this it may be covered by insurance. Also, please try not to overuse your inhaler whatever you do because it can cause a paradoxical effect, that brings more harm than good. I hope this helps in some way!

Does anyone else have a hard time feeling sorry for someone else when they’re responsible for their condition?
Question by 20022006: Does anyone else have a hard time feeling sorry for someone else when they’re responsible for their condition?
Some examples:
Alcoholics with liver disease.
Smokers with lung cancer.
Poor people with multiple children.
Promiscuous people with STDs
People with poor diets who are obese.
People with bad teeth who have poor dental hygeine/poor diet, drink soda pop all the time.
I consider myself liberal, but I just can’t bring myself to have sympathy for people who are responsible for their own maladies. No one puts a gun to your head and makes you do these things. I feel sorry where children are involved, but that’s about it.
Practically everyone takes health class in Junior High/Middle and High School.

I already have Cirrhosis, & now have Lung Cancer! Would now be a good time to adopt Christianity over Atheism?
Question by IMA SLUTPUPPY 4 U!: I already have Cirrhosis, & now have Lung Cancer! Would now be a good time to adopt Christianity over Atheism?
That’s right, Folks! I’m already dying from the “End Stages” of terminal Cirrhosis of the Liver (2 much hard Drinkin’ & Druggin’ in my youth!), and now, a “routine X-Ray” Friday revealed I now have Lung Cancer from Smoking added to my “Dance Card”! Thus far, I have remained Atheist and refused to Recant, but seriously, I’m starting to wonder if God isn’t trying to tell me something:
Like, this time, my luck’s all used up, and I’m not going to be getting out of this one alive!
What do you think? Should I give God a try, and accept Jesus into what’s left of my life?

I am having a hard time getting enough air……?
Question by lcamel2000: I am having a hard time getting enough air……?
I went to the dr. and he sent me to a heart specialist (after he took my oxygen level, EKG, and did some bloodwork—all FINE). Why would he send me to a heart doctor when I NEED MORE AIR? I sleep with an oxygen tank at night. Chest pain occasionally. Overweight, and a smoker, so I realize I am a good candidate for a heart attack. But, I think this has to do with my lungs!!! Why won’t he check my lungs for cancer or something? (I knew a woman who went to the dr. because she couldn’t breathe. They did tests on her. Good heart, but two weeks later she was dead of lung cancer!!!!). Can anyone tell me what they think it might be with my lungs?
Best answer:
Answer by CookinMom
Have they checked you for asthma? You need to ask your Dr. the question about why he would send you to a heart specialist. That sounds like an expensive visit and tests. You must have been diagnosed with something to be sleeping with an oxygen tank?

Ask your mother to make a doctor’s appointment for you.
With asthma, chest pain is generally not as frequent as yours is.
This sounds either like acid reflux disease (chronic heartburn) or a heart problem.

Time frame for Esophageal Cancer?
Question by Zana-Di Girl: Time frame for Esophageal Cancer?
I know the survival rate is quite low as I have read online in many different places, but can someone tell me the average life expectancy from time of diagnosis… weeks, months, years, and what to expect…. given the circumstances that he’s otherwise currently a quite healthy 47-50 y/o male. As it has only been days since knowledge, I am assuming he is in stage 4 as the cancer is also in the lungs, liver, and lymph-nodes. Please let me know what to expect, how ill will he get, etc etc. Thanks so much for any information.
Best answer:
Answer by Panda
Since diagnosis has been recent, there is absolutely no way of knowing this information. Much depends upon what type of treatment the patient undergoes, his individual response to the treatment, his overall health, the location of the tumors in the body (do they invade major organs or structures) and probably a good deal of luck. Stage 4 disease is the most difficult to treat . . but it can be treated successfully. There is not a cancer out there in any stage or tumor grade that someone, somewhere has not survived.
So, the first thing you should do is not listen to statistics or prognosis. Concentrate on learning as much as you can about the disease. Do not be afraid to read all the material. Read as much as you can, ask the oncologists question, make sure you locate an oncologist that you thoroughly trust and is willing to go to bat for the patient. You also need to have an oncologist who is totally honest with you. It will be quite a fight, but it can be done.

I killed my Father and I’m having a hard time dealing with it!!?
Question by MacguyverIT: I killed my Father and I’m having a hard time dealing with it!!?
My Father had been in the hospital for about a year dying from lung cancer and was in severe pain. He had told me that in the end he didn’t want to be resuscitated if he passed and had a DNR (Do not resuscitate) on file but when I got a call in the middle of the night stating he had a heart attack I raced to the hospital to find they had put him on a ventilator to keep him alive which I was happy he was but when I asked why they did that when he had a DNR order in place they said he did not so it was up to me, since I had his power of attorney, to honor his wish but it tore me apart and I couldn’t do it right away. So I called the family to let them know they should get to the hospital and explained what I needed to do and they agreed that I needed to honor his wishes but they could not get to the hospital right away so I ended up keeping him on the ventilator for another day until they arrived so I sat by his side without sleeping until the next evening when they arrived and I left the room to ask the nurse to remove the life support. He lasted another two days on his own and I stayed by his side without sleep until he passed away.
It’s been a little over a month now and all I can think of every minute of every day is that I killed my Father! I know it’s what he wanted but that doesn’t make it any easier and it’s affecting my work since instead of actually working I sit and think while just staring at my computer screen, I don’t eat lunch but instead go out to my car and sleep for an hour, my doctor put me on antidepressants (Cymbalta) which gave me some of the worst migraine type pain but on the top of my head.
I just don’t know what do do to get passed this and I think I’m going to lose my job which will cause me to lose everything else that matters to me since I’m teetering on foreclosure and bankruptcy due to this messed up economy already.
Has anyone out there been through something like this and how did you get through it?
Plz help!!!

Q&A: Are there people who can walk but are in a wheel chair 90% of the time?
Question by ?: Are there people who can walk but are in a wheel chair 90% of the time?
My next door neighbor is probably thirty something and lives alone. He’s in a wheel chair all the time. I think I only saw him once out of the wheel chair and it was in the elevator of the apartment building we live in. He was holding on to the railing and breathing really heavily. Are there diseases or disorders where your able to walk but you just stay in a wheel chair most of the time? He doesn’t work so I bet he’s on disability. I just wonder how serious his disability is. Anyone know of anything he could possibly have?
Best answer:

Yes, I have seen someone like that at this college I go to. He can walk short distances and stand okay, but needs the wheel chair to go any decent distance.

Q&A: Joss Stone blows mouth again and this time gets the facts wrong?
Question by wicked7: Joss Stone blows mouth again and this time gets the facts wrong?
British singer Joss Stone shocked guests at a heart disease benefit, by singing the praises of cigarettes. The star was one of a number of celebrity guests at a New York Fashion Week bash on Saturday (2FEB08) to promote U.S. National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute’s (NHLBI) annual Heart Truth awareness campaign. When asked what she did to protect her heart, Stone, 20, revealed she smoked hand-rolled cigarettes – which she wrongly claimed are less harmful than pre-packaged ones. She told the New York Daily News, “In England we smoked rolled cigarettes. It’s better to smoke rollies than straights because straights have chemicals that keep them burning. So if you have to really smoke, smoke rollies.” A 2006 study established hand-rolled cigarettes are actually more likely to cause lung and oesophageal cancer.
What is your opinion on this Joss Stone mishap. Do you think she needs managment to overseer what she says?
She has always had a history of blowing her mouth off without knowing the consequences and being ignorant on who she is hurting in the process because she said that her former boyfriend Beau Dozier said that he raped her because she was 16 years old when she went out with him but in the UK consenting age is at 16 years old which means that she can not cry rape. I believe is also an insult to women who were seriously raped.

Stop smoking. Having him take something is not a good solution. It’s hard to quit, but keep trying. Many people try multiple times before they finally quit for good.
A lot of the damage has already been done, but he would still benefit a lot from not smoking.
