The Asthma Feeling video explores the way asthmatic children feel about their disease and ways to cope with being ‘different’. The video is designed to help children feel more comfortable with having asthma and not allow it to cause undue interference in the lifestyle of the person. Producer: National Institutes of Health. Creative Commons license: Public Domain Asthma is a chronic medical condition. It has been defined by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute as a common chronic disorder of the airways that is complex and characterized by variable and recurring symptoms, airflow obstruction, bronchial hyperresponsiveness (bronchospasm), and an underlying inflammation. The purpose of this comprehensive training program is to increase the basic knowledge and understanding of the concepts of WHMIS.
Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is a national system to identify workplace hazardous materials and provide safety information pertaining to them. Workers have the right to know what hazards they are dealing with and how to protect themselves from illness and injury.
WHMIS training is one of our instructor-led training programs. Instructor-led training remains the primary source for formal workplace learning. The advantages are obvious and include the ability for students to interact with their peers and the instructor. The opportunity for students to ask questions, clarify points, complete exercises and get feedback in a supportive environment cannot be overlooked. In addition, the classroom environment provides a structure that many find comforting and accommodating. The skilled instructor understands and interprets the audience to gauge the pace of the program and acknowledges the level and ability of the group. As well, the experienced instructor is able to determine the capabilities of the student to determine the comprehension of the subject material.
The WHMIS course is a two and a half hour classroom program that will be held at your workplace location. It includes certificate of completion for each participant. The course will cover several key aspects of WHMIS training, including:
* Intent of WHMIS legislation and legal responsibilities.* Detailed examination of the 6 classifications of controlled products.* Identify workplace hazardous materials through WHMIS symbols and labels.* Understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) with operational relevancy. * Recognize common hazards, routes of entry and harmful effects of hazardous materials.* Identify various controls required to eliminate/reduce/prevent harmful exposures * Identify typical emergency procedures to use in response to exposure and accidental release.* Interactive exercises, participant review and assessment.
