The person has just been discharged from hospital with very mild Pneumonia and has been successfully treated with antibiotics and steroids and is fully recovered.

Best to ask the treating doctor as she’ll be much more familiar with your case than us. From what you described, I don’t see why not. I’m presuming the patient isn’t on oxygen on a regular basis; I’m also presuming that the patient will be remaining in the parts of Thailand where medical help can be readily found should things get worse.
Might consider buying travel insurance so if the patient gets ill overseas, s/he won’t be on the hook for a massive bill! Most US based insurance does not cover treatment undertaken overseas..

I had a double lung transplant a year ago when I was 18 (i have Cystic Fibrosis) and haven’t been anywhere since I had the transplant. My friend asked me if I wanted to go to Egypt and Syria with her this summer. Has anyone had any experience traveling to different countries after a lung transplant? would it be safe?

Generally, yes, but it depends on the level of the lawyer. M&A work frequently involves a lot of travel, because lawyers must meet with clients, investment bankers, investors, lenders and lawyers for all of them. Lawyers are at the bottom of the food chain on M&A deals, so the lawyers have to go to the other person’s location, not vice versa. I am talking about the relatively senior lawyers. A lot of junior lawyers on M&A never leave their offices — they just read documents and do due diligence. However, they will also travel when the documents are somewhere else, or when they become more senior.

Speak with her doctors. If she is capable of working and exercising she would mostly likely be able to travel. But its important her doctors know where she is and you find a good hospital that can treat her if she needs it in Australia. Bring a copy of her medical records and any phone numbers to reach her doctors.
Her doctors will know best if she can go on a vacation.

My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer and since she doesn’t have insurance – going overseas for treatment is an option we are considering becuz the doctors are just as qualified and the costs are not as obscene.
The problems is she doesn’t want to ride on a plane and feels her body can not handle the travel. Her friends told her that plane travel multiplies the cancer cells. Is this true ??
Does being in high altitude or being screened by security at airports increase the cancer cells ?

The costs are obscene in the U.S today.
That is why we need health care reform.
It is OK for her to fly.
There is nothing about air travel that would stimulate the growth of breast cancer cells.

As long as you have your breathing/rescue aids with you in the cabin you should be fine.
Take a dose of anything you may be using to aid breathing just before the flight, so that you’ll be in the “safe zone” in case you find out you need more esp. during takeoff.
If your doctor hasn’t told you not to travel by air, I wouldn’t worry about it at all.

Many people were outraged recently after finding out that cancer sufferers are being penalised when it comes to travel insurance. Most travel insurers were charging people who have suffered with cancer almost double; sometimes triple the amount any other person would, even if they have been cleared from the disease for a few years.
Cancer charities have now launched a campaign that demands fair treatment for those who wish to travel abroad and who are suffering from cancer, and for those who have suffered but have now been cleared of the disease. The charities are also demanding that the travel insurance companies treat people being affected in this way with more respect and sensitivity.
The Cancer support charity has commented that they are being contacted by hundreds of people each month asking why they are being quoted extremely high premiums or in some cases even being refused travel insurance. Many travel insurers say that it is a high risk factor and this is the reason for the increase in price for the premium, but the support groups have answered that it is highly unlikely that somebody who has been cleared of cancer for a few years will suddenly need emergency treatment.
An example of the discrimination cancer sufferers are being faced with is a 40-year-old woman who is travelling for two weeks to Spain would pay on average £31.35 for cover. But if the same woman had had breast cancer five years before and the cancer was now in remission, then the cost of the travel insurance would suddenly shoot up to £73.57, this shows a massive increase of nearly £40 in the cost of cover.
Due to this unfair treatment many people have admitted to going abroad without any cover at all; this is the one thing experts advise not to do.
If you are looking for holiday insurance then you should try comparing different deals online, most of the time it can help you find cheap travel insurance deals. If you are a frequent traveller then you should think about taking out annual travel insurance to try and save you some money.
