a friend just got diag with it and they are going to remove it with surgey , she did not say it was life threating surgey but i want to know what surgey prod do they have for this .i know all cancer is serious . now some facts i know she said it has not spread anywhere , and the will just remove that spot .

pancreatic cancer is usually detected in late stages. it does not show symptoms in early stages.There are two treatment options…surgery or chemotherapy. The choice will be made by the doctor depending on how much of the pancreas is involved. You can refer to the following website for further details.

One difference, an axial lymph node clearance was once common.
Now a sentinel node biopsy is a far less invasive alternative.

My wife is a 59 year old woman diagnosed with this disease several years ago. She is about to start chemotherapy but first she must be treated for a problem with her right knee. We had an MRI done and it seems there is some unusual presentation within the femur. Is this typical and is this perhaps the origin of her cancer? Please help if you can.

Waldenstrom’s macroglobulin anaemia is a fairly rare blood condition.
Treatment using medications called alkylating agents are usually effective so the disorder is usually easily controlled.
but… as of my knowledge… no further idea.. must try and consult a good oncologist in your city.

No home remedy has been shown to be effective in treating any form of skin cancer
Go to either your Dermatologist or Md first
Skin cancer is nothing to fool around with especially if it’s the potentially deadly malignant melanoma
hoe do you know the difference?

The most common side effect is nausea. Fortunately, medication can be administered to control it if need be. Although nausea as well as general fatigue are the most common, radiation therapy (RT) to treat malignancies present in the region of the neck or throat (pharynx), thyroid, larynx, etc., may bring about side effects including sore throat, changes in “taste”, thickening of the saliva and dry mouth. Also, hair loss can occur– but only within the immediate target radiation field. This is less common, but still possible.

Bear in mind that chemotherapy is often an adjunct to radiation therapy in the treatment of certain carcinomas. If that is the case, the side effects of the chemo will be more severe, including nausea and vomiting, diarrhea, profound fatigue, flu-like symptoms, pain, anemia and of course, hair loss.

There are different forms of skin cancer. The most dangerous one, melanoma, is one that is most concering. Although it is rare.

The symptoms are typically a large, unusual shaped mole that is changing in size and appearence. Often they ulcerate, bleed, and itch also. If the Melanoma is contained to the skin, it is removed by surgery alone. If the cancer has invade the body, lymph system, or any organs, there are various forms of chemo and other treatments that must be taken.

For example, if someone has medicaid or medicare and has been diagnosed with lung cancer…would chemotherapy be covered? I am just curious because I know that the government makes a lot of money from the idiots who smoke (cuz they are so addicted they wont stop buying the damn things no matter how much taxes they have to pay on them). It seems counter productive for them to turn around and use those same tax dollars treating smokers. After all, millions die each years so the majority of the time it is money wasted. Even if they did pull through, they will probably go back to smoking and do we really want someone that stupid wasting space anyway?

I hope it isn’t covered. As a matter of fact NO insurance should cover treatment for smoking related ailments. If they are stupid enough to smoke they should pay for it totally out of pocket. They should just let them all die off. Its evolution, survival of the fittest. That way only the smarter people will go on to reproduce and hopefully eventually people will just stop (after the dumb ones kill themselves of course).

Also..why is it legal to do something that is proven to be deadly? Assisted suicide for people who are suffering is illegal but perfectly healthy people are allowed to give themselves cancer? I just don’t get it i guess.

And by the way…dont compare this to alcohol. MOST people who drink alcohol are NOT alcoholics, but MOSTLY everyone who smokes is extremely addicted. its not the same.

A lot of seniors who have lung cancer developed it early on before there were warning labels on cigarette packs, at a time when most people smoked and did not know it was addictive, let alone carcinogenic due to mass campaign by tobacco lobby to hide the truth. That has past. I wonder why kids continue to smoke these days with all the information available about smoking and how can they afford to smoke at $ 5 a pack? However, we dont discriminate in treating sick people because they did not take care of themselves. We treat the end result and doctors must treat everyone.

Remember that Medicare was paid for by payroll taxes by people who worked for 40 years and continue to pay a share of Medicare every month as well as the usual co-pays and co-insurance.

Whatever you think of subsidized programs, remember that government subsidizes industry for much more than it does people on Medicare.

Experimental Cancer Treatments?

I met a lady who is like a grandmother to me. She was living in north carolina, but now came to Texas to live with us. While in NC, she found out she had 7 brain tumors, and 2 lung tumors. The doctors told her up there that there was nothing they could do after radiation stopped shrinking the tumors. Also, they told her she has less than 2 months to live. I myself, have Cystic Fibrosis and have fought it for 18 years now, Ive several times been told I was going to die, but here I am today. I believe in doctors, but I do not believe in some of them saying “there is nothing we can do” I personally think there is ALWAYS something they can do. Since moving down to Texas, I convinced her to go to MD Anderson in Houston. I go to doctors in Houston, and they are some of the best in the world. They are going to be contacting her soon to tell her if they can do anything or not.
My question is, what treatments or experimental treatments can I ask the doctors about trying for her? I know there is something out there they can try. Price is no object. When they call, I want to be able to ask them if they could try such and such…
Please, if anyone could help I would GREATLY APPRECIATE it.

About 1.5 months ago my cousin got blood cancer, and had to go through chemotherapy. Unfortunately it didnt work. The chemotherapy punctured her lungs, and from that she died. Just out of curiosity, i would like to know whether there better treatments than chemotherapy.

Bone marrow transplants or stem cell transplants are sometimes an option, but sometimes matches cannot be found in time or that treatment wouldn’t be right for that particular case.

My brother had to have a stem cell transplant and we were just lucky that my older sister matched him whenever I didn’t.

My husband has throat cancer and we will be starting treatments soon . 5 days a week of radiation and 1 day a week of chemo for about 6 to 8 weeks. I am worried about what to expect. He is 74 years old and his heart is good and so is his lungs. all in all in pretty good shape except for his throat.

who told you there is no cure for cancers? There is not known medical prevention of cancer but there treatments that cure people once they have one. Check out the statistics www.cancer.org.

The survival rates are improving for many cancers. And they are finding new successful treatments all the time.
