Question by xyz1: Is it possible to have 2 different types of cancers simultaneously and not even know it?
I am wondering if it’s possible to have 2 types of cancers simultaneously and not even know it….as weird or as stupid as that sounds…..I suspect I may have early stage throat or lung cancer since I have alot of weird symptoms (see my other question for details) but I also think I might have stomach cancer as well. I get these SEVERE tummy aches all the time (even when I’m not on my period or due to start it for several days) and can’t help but think of what it is. I don’t think it could be endometriosis but what do I know? I’m no doctor, nor can I afford to see one right now, which is why I’m hoping a doctor could answer my question on here. My tummy also hurts alot before AND after I eat, many times. Is this normal? What’s the deal?

If the person have high-risk forms of HPV ( that cause cervical cancer or genital warts ) Can this rise the risk of other type of cancers? Can you take some type of tests and what kind ,for other types cancer bace on the high- risk forms or HP?

High risk genital HPV types are the genital HPV types that are found in genital cancers. Genital HPV types are found in virtually all cervical cancer. Other genital cancers that are linked to HPV are vaginal, anal, vulva, penile, and oral cancers. These ‘other’ cancers have other links and risk factors.

I am unsure what other cancers you are thinking of. There is no overall HPV test. HPV testing is approved only for the cervix. HPV is not found in the blood.

Most genital high risk HPV types do not progress to any cancers due to the diligent recommendation of our Pap test. Pap tests allow our doctor to see cell changes early, monitor these cell changes, and if these cell changes progress the can recommend a treatment preventing most all cervical cancers. It usually takes years before the virus progress to cancer.

Everything now-a-days causes cancer, but there is a proven association with obesity and cancer. Some types of food has proven to increase your chances of getting cancer for example, bar-b-q, salted meats. just try to eat things that are good for you like fruits and vegetables and stay away from fatty foods.

Hello, I need some help with Biology questions.

Here are the answers that goes with the questions:

Questions:
1. In rabbits, an allele for full color(C) is dominant over an allele for chinchilla (c’) color. Both full colors are dominant over the white allele(c). So a rabbit can be CC, Cc’, Cc, c’c', c’c, etc.
2.The sickle allele, is responsible for a variety of phenotypic effects such as fever, hear, lung, kidney damage and more.
3. Chickens homozygous for the black alleles are black, and chickens homozygous for the white alleles are white. Heterozygous chickens are gray.
4. Independent genes at four different loci are responsible for determining an individual’s HLA tissue type, important in organ transplant and certain diseases.
5. There are three important different alleles for the blood group IA, IB i , but an individual has only two at a time.
6. When graphed, the number of individuals if various heights forms a bell-shed curve.

There are no foods proven to increase the risk of any type of cancer, or to decrease the risk either.

Except that a diet high in red and processed meat increases the risk of colon cancer.

* Chemotherapy is drug treatment which is used to try and kill cancer cells or stop them spreading.
* Radiation therapy uses high powered x-rays or radioactive seeds to kill cancer cells.The specialist in radiation therapy is known as Radiation oncologist.
* LASER treatment is also known as Radiofrequency ablation. The internal cancer can be accessed and destroyed by endoscopic laser surgery. There will be no bleeding by this procedure.
* Cancer immunotherapy attempts to stimulate the immune system to reject and destroy tumors.

I have Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome ( a branch of Dysautonomia) and I have had fainting spells. It has to do with blood pressure and heart rate issues upon standing and during exercise.

It doesn’t actually take a disease or cancer to make you pass out though. Sometimes stress alone can cause this issue.

What other types of chemotherapy will work?

My mom was diagnosed with metastic transitional cell carcinoma. She was given cisplatin and gemzar from April until September. While it brought the cancer volume down, the cancer is progressing. I need to know if anyone has any other idea of any chemotherapy that can work.

There are other chemotherapy regimens that can be tried for metastatic transitional cell bladder cancers (if that is where your mom’s primary tumor was found). Since she has been treated with cis-platinum and Gemzar, she must be under the care of an oncologist. That person – who has full knowledge of your mom’s case – should be explaining alternatives. If you are not satisfied with the answers, you and your mom could certainly get another opinion. But cures with any of the many possible chemotherapy regimens are not likely in this situation.

All cancers have treatment options. Some are just more effective than others.

the lethality of diseases, especially cancer, is often compared by the 5 year survival rate they have.

EG.
Brest cancer caught in it’s mid stages has an 80% 5 year survival rate ( in other words, the person is still alive 5 years later )

lung cancer on the other hand has a 5 year survival rate of around 15% ( though it varies depending on other variables )

I need an urgent response as I have a friend suffering from cancer, and all options with western medicine has run out and we have been offered an alternate offer by a herbalist claiming that his herb concoction can remove the malignant tumour.

Please help… Urgent!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry guys, I forgot to add that my friend suffers from STOMACH CANCER, very close to the opening to the duodenum. It is almost blocking the opening, and it could not be operated, hence the doctor made a by-pass, which works for now. He has already had chemo, but did not shrink the tumor. The conventional physicians say that there is nothing much they can do.

I don’t know what to tell you. When my father had cancer there was nothing that cured it. I know Chemo and radiation are the only ways to cure it. However, it didn’t work for my father he passed away almost 4 years ago.

Smoking does not just cause lung cancer, it causes brain tumers as well as others but it does not cause ALL types of cancer. It isn’t going to cause breast cancer for example

An effective immune system is really not helpful on its own in destroying cancer. For the immune system to do anything, it has to be able to recognise the cancer cells as such. To the immune system a cancer cell looks just like a normal healthy cell – no matter how strong the immune system is. Research is ongoing in developing “cancer vaccines” that are able to trigger immune responses against various cancer types.
