1st we live in Germany and the pediatrician said it was normal in some kids to suffer from bronchitis because of the weather, but now we are in California (we moved 1 month ago) and she has bronchitis again.

Two chemicals known to cause cancer in babies remain in Johnson & Johnson’s baby shampoo sold in the U.S, even though the company already makes versions without them in other countries. The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics has unsuccessfully been urging the world’s largest health care company for 2 1/2 years to remove the cancer-causing chemicals (dioxane and quaternium-15) from Johnson’s Baby Shampoo. Johnson & Johnson said it is reducing or gradually phasing out the chemicals, but it would take two more years to do so. That would be 4 1/2 years from the time it was discovered by Johnson & Johnson.
According to a report, obtained by The Associated Press, one of the suspect chemicals, quaternium-15, is a preservative that works by releasing formaldehyde. Formaldehyde, used as an embalming fluid, was declared a known human carcinogen this past June by the U.S. National Toxicology Program.
Formaldehyde is also a skin, eye and respiratory irritant, and Quaternium-15 is still an ingredient in Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo sold in the U.S., Canada, China, Indonesia and Australia, but research this summer found it’s not in the same product sold in at least eight other countries, from the U.K. and Denmark to Japan and South Africa.
According to Analytical Sciences LLC of Petaluma, Calif., 1,4-dioxane was contained in Johnson & Johnson’s Baby Shampoo, Oatmeal Baby Wash, Moisture Care Baby Wash and Aveeno Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash. Analytical Sciences also tested multiple Johnson & Johnson baby product samples from the U.S. finding the chemicals in many of them. Consumer groups in South Africa, Sweden and Japan stated that quaternium-15 was not being used in products in their countries.
There is evidence that formaldehyde is associated with nose, lung and blood cancers such as leukemia. An infant’s scalp is more permeable than an adult’s, so exposure to the chemicals cause more harm for babies than adults. To expose a child, during a very vulnerable period of development, when the effect is even greater, and at a time when Johnson & Johnson knows of its dangers, it still intends to take two more years before it stops using those chemicals in its products.
Do we need less governmental regulation, so that corporations do not have to go to the trouble of making products safe? According to Republican legislators, we do need less regulation, because it cuts into the profit margin.

maybe there wasnt enough research done to prove that the level of the chemicals were high enoough to cause harm, if there were just trace amounts that were unharmful to babies then they wouldnt have had to remove it. There is radiation all through our houses and that can cause cancer and death but it oesnt effect us because the levels are so low, also with products like that they have to go through legal issues before they can change their product which can cause the process to take a little longer than we would have liked x

I am 22year old male and i have been smoking smoking for 4 years as one or two cigarettes a night. These days i am into little depression that i could get throat or lung cancer due to this! i do not know why i feel this though there is nothing wrong with my physical health yet. I just enjoy having one ,at least , after dinner and i do not want to quit. I know there is chance of getting this lethal disease but can somebody clarify it more with % that how much i am likely to have cancer or any other survey/report regarding that. Moreover nobody had this disease in my family thus family history is also clear. Also how to detect throat cancer with symptoms within its initial stages? Please help me to get out of this tension. I have had this mild shortness of breath problem for the last 1.5 half year, but it comes and goes. Unfortunatelly, the last month I coughed up a small amount of blood several times , have had a strange evening fever several times although a flu has been ruled out, bone pain and severe weight loss/loss of appetite through this last month.
I have read a lot online about lung cancer, so my symptoms made me very concerned. I am going to have a chest x-ray in the following days, but any answer would be welcome, as I really need to calm down.

I never really smoked heavily, I started at 16, but not much more than 2cigarettes/day until the age 18-22 where I smoked a bit heavier. Nevertheless, I calculated a bit more than 2 pack years using the “formula”. I have been smoke-free for over 10 months now. I am ashamed about my stupidity…

you didn’t say what age you starting smoking heavily
lung cancer due to smoking would be extremely rare at your age (but not impossible)
it usually takes several decades for “it” to get ya

My dad has 33 years smoking added up since he quit for a total of 2 years and after that it has been non-stop one pack a day. Regardless of all this he is really fit and eats extremely healthy foods such as onions and garlic which help the lungs and arteries but till some point. He is 53 at the moment, he is still fit and has a lot of muscle but according to the doctor he has 1 lesion on his lung, intoxicated liver, his heart is damaged( i don’t know how though) and he produces almost no testosterone.
So, I wasn’t worried at all till I started hearing his coughs coming from his room since he rarely ever coughs in public and I am creeped out by the way he is coughing so, how long do you guys think he has to live? in what dangers is he at the moment? please I’d really appreciate answers even though I know its hard to tell without examining him first but your opinion helps.

Honestly I don’t think anyone here can tell you how long he has to live. Even a doctor could be off on that to be honest. He is in a lot of danger it sounds, with the liver, heart and the lesion on his lung. I’m sorry that your dad is such an addict, but if he knows what it’s doing to himself then he is bringing his own death.

I know this might sound stupid, but I have been thinking about cancer (leukemia in particular) for the last couple of years. As stupid as it may sound, I really want to die from it…If I could have it instead of others, I would be the happiest…But I know you can’t “just get it”.
Maybe it’s a version of trying to kill myself, combined with feeling very sorry for the children and the young people who suffer from these diseases… maybe I have some kind of psychological disorder, since I keep wanting (but fail) to lose weight (I weight around 125 lbs – 57 kg at 5’8″ – 173 cm). I know that my BMI is towards the lower side of the healthy range, but I really want to get to at least 45 kg – 100 lbs. The weight I am at right now is among the highest I have ever been. I hope that posting this will somehow help me get there…
The problem is I can’t talk to anyone about this. I don’t want to reveal to my friends, my family or anyone I know what I am up to… But I really need help and maybe support from whoever wants to offer it.
You are right to believe that at my 21 years of age I am quite screwed up thinking like this, but I can’t keep it in myself anymore. Still, nobody can take these thoughts out of my head, for now at least.
I am practically a socially inept girl, which means I have few but good friends (I tend to keep people at a distance, to push them back) and I’ve been kissed for the first time only recently. But that only adds pressure on me, because I am so inexperienced.
Could anyone give me some advice?
Any good thoughts would be much appreciated.

At your age you should be enjoying life, you need to relax, don’t look back at the past, think of the good things ahead,,the Bible says God has a purpose for each us, look for it as you go about each day, and smile, you are loved, and the future is bright, don’t ever let anybody tell you any different!!

My husband’s grandfather lived to be 93 “chewing” (he would put this thing in his mouth & spit, not sure what it really is but I know it’s bad.) smoking, & drinking pepsi & beer every night. Whereas I know there are people that could just smoke cigarettes for a few years and die a horrible death. Why is this?

My father smoked in his early 20s, but he gave it up to become healthier. Then, at 48 he passed away from colon cancer. If you ask anyone that knew him they’d tell you what a wonderful man he was. There’s no explaining it. Bad things happen to good people, and good things happen to bad people…it sucks, but hey that’s life, right?

it will come in 2 years. i am personally developing the treatment for hepatitis. i have found active combination of alkaloids that bind to the dna polymerase of the virus and prevents its further multiplication. well i live in india and there is financial problem in developing the drug .it will come to the market some day or if you help me in few months

I’ve had this doctor for 21 years and he was always with me in all my medical crisis’, up until I told him I was BRCA positive and getting preventative hysterectomy and preventative Mastdectomy and that was November 2008. He is primary doctor, and been my doc for over 20 years. Now he refuses to give me my one medication for anxiety, doesn’t call me back, hasn’t billed me in one year since I told him, and told my Aunt and mother that I am “trouble” “have a big mouth” and other hints. When I call his office, his assistant gives excuses but I did get in to see him about 1 month ago and he said, “I made a big mistake in giving you a beta blocker for high blood pressure,” which hindered my lung and they had to cancel my surgery for boob removal. Then my pharmacy started questioning that one medication he has given me for 8 years, and when I told him, he started screaming at me, saying he will never prescribe it again, and that because of me he may lose his license. When we went to see him 1 month ago (my husband and I), he was cold to my hubby and barely examinined me. I had to get the med thru my Gynocologist who is now questioning me saying he can’t keep giving it to me because he will lose his license. So I am looking for new doctor, which is very hard. What can I do, and does this show my main doctor doesn’t want to treat me, and why not just tell me “I can’t treat you, get a new doctor” like a normal person… Why am I the addict now, why am i the bad girl? I don’t get this issue. I need the med. How else can I get it besides doctors! HELP!
“BRCA” is a term for a gene associated with breast/ovarian cancer in women who take this test and have the gene and therefore have to take preventative methods to not get that cancer.

Very few insurance companies cover anyone with existing conditions .
And legitimate ones that do will be over a $ 1000 a month .
If she applied for Social Security Disability , she will get Medicare 24 months after the SSDI starts .

Well then i developed fluids in my ears (i was sooo dizzy, and felt like i was dying!) and then i got some type of stomach virus, with vomiting, i only vomited like 3 times though.. Well i think somewhere in all that worrying i got (health?) anxiety.
Well i just had a check up about 5 weeks ago, he said im very healthy cause i was concerned.
And yesterday i went BACK to the doctor cause i have been having twitching (like spasms kinda?) all over my body, like jerking, ticks, in my arms, legs, HEAD back, shoulders, ect. Plus my head feels shaky sometimes, and sometimes my hands do, this stuff happens even when im not anxious, i dont even really feel anxious until this stuff happens. Well the twitching is worse in the mornings, and happens throughout the day, but when i dont think about it, it dont happen as much. So anyway, This was a diff doctor cause my original one was out of the office. Well she listened to me well, then listened to my heart, lungs, checked my reflexes, asked me questions, turned off the light and looked in my eyes really good, made me follow them with her finger, and then told me that my symptoms are real, im not imaging them, they are like neurogical symptoms ( like the twitching ) but there is nothing neurogically wrng with me, that my mind and body play a big role together, and my mind is making my do all ths thats it is part depression, and some anxiety too.
I have had some stuff going on like, i started a new program at school, my boyfriend whom i am obsessivly inlove with just got locked up, and my parents and i constantky argue. But even worse things have happend, yet i never developed anxiety from anything else, even worse sentiatuions, so why would i get it now all a sudden???
what do you guys think, my mom gets frusterated when i say things like “wht if she missed something” my mom get mad because she has been hearing this for a long time now because i bug her day and night about it.
Also sometmes i get confused, and mix my words up. my head feels like unsteady, moves uncontrollably.
is this normal with anxiety? do you guys think i should listen to my doctor?? or do you think it is something serious i should go get help for.?
my mom tells me im a hypercondriac, which i do sorta agree, but i dont know how to over come this fear somthings wrong with me.
im also ADD so doc put me on Shatarra.
and today i have been feeling spacy and kinda nervous!
is this anxiety/depression, and how do i overcome this??
HAS ANY1 ELSE EXPERIANCED THIS? PLEASE TELL ME IF YOU HAVE I FEEL SO ALONE!

The news is bad no hope chemo and all treatment has stoped after we recived news that the 2nd chemo therapy was working on his lungs now liver and stomake are gone I dont want to say or do anything that will make things worse I only want to be their for my freind. He has not allways been a Angle but have any of us
.Please advise any imput will be a help my flight leaves in AM.

There’s no easy or simple answer as this must be one of the hardest things to deal with. Your friend isn’t looking for you to supply a miracle or even the answer. Just be the friend you’ve been for the last 25 years. You must be one of the best in the world since you’re dropping everything to be by his side. It won’t be about what you say or do, listening is probably 90% of what your friend needs. Your faith, your compassion, your friendship will be your guide. God speed.
